Chapter 265 The Housing Allocation Dispute
Chapter 265 The Housing Allocation Dispute
The cotton mill is renovating a small alley to turn it into a residential compound for its employees.
However, there are too many people, but only a few houses, and many, many eyes are watching these houses.
Song Ying was also envious. In terms of seniority, ranking, professional title, and needs, Song Ying should have a house. But Song Ying knew that if she did nothing, the house would definitely not fall into her lap.
He specifically took Lin Dongzhe back to the compressor factory to discuss the matter with Lin Wufeng.
Lin Wufeng gave Song Ying an idea: he suggested she check if the factory needed refrigerators, and he could get one without needing a receipt. It wouldn't be a standard product, but it would work perfectly.
Song Ying went to find Secretary Zhang with great joy.
Just then, Lin Dongzhe got out of school, so Song Ying took him with her.
Lin Dongzhe looked at this second Qiao Zuwang and found it somewhat amusing. This guy didn't look like a respectable person at all!
The refrigerator issue was resolved quickly, and the factory finally had its own refrigerator.
However, when Song Ying went to the real estate department, she found that she was not on the list.
Secretary Zhang is crossing the river and then burning the bridge; he doesn't want to admit his mistakes!
Song Ying wanted to explode with anger, but she held back. If she lashed out at the Party Secretary, she would definitely lose the house. But she simply couldn't swallow her anger!
He whispered in Lin Dongzhe's ear, "Dongzhe, please stay at Secretary Zhang's house for the next few days. I'll come and pick you up when he's ready to keep his promise!"
Lin Dongzhe was still being held by Song Ying. He wiped away Song Ying's tears and said, "Don't worry, Mom! It's nothing."
Soon they arrived at Secretary Zhang's house, and Song Ying knocked on the door with a flashlight.
It was Secretary Zhang's mother who opened the door. "Who are you looking for so late?"
"I'm looking for Secretary Zhang! Is Secretary Zhang in?" Song Ying asked.
Secretary Zhang and his wife were both woken up and got up to check the situation.
Song Ying barged in and handed Lin Dongzhe to Secretary Zhang. Secretary Zhang didn't understand what had happened, but he still took the child who was handed to him without hesitation.
"If you don't allocate me a house, my son will live in your house!" After saying this, Song Ying disappeared like the wind from Secretary Zhang's doorstep.
The Zhang family was in an uproar, constantly asking where the boy came from and what his relationship was with Secretary Zhang. Secretary Zhang was speechless.
After the group rested for a while, Lin Dongzhe approached Secretary Zhang and whispered in his ear, "Uncle Zhang, I've seen you before, in the grove to the south. But it seems like the woman you were with back then wasn't this aunt."
The sound wasn't loud, but it startled Secretary Zhang.
"You little brat, you've mistaken me for someone else!"
“Uncle Zhang, I know that auntie. I think she’s Aunt Zhu from the dorm next to my mom’s! She’s been muttering to herself the past few days, talking about abortion and suicide. I’m still young, so I don’t understand.” Lin Dongzhe said with a half-smile. “But you probably don’t know, Uncle Zhang, I’m known for being tight-lipped. My mom still doesn’t know where my dad’s secret stash of money is.”
Secretary Zhang looked at Lin Dongzhe suspiciously, "How old are you?"
"Poverty breeds wisdom! That's what my teacher said. Uncle Zhang, I have a classmate whose mother also works at our factory; her name is Huang Ling. It would be great if we could be assigned to the same compound!"
"You're not just precocious, you've become a spirit!" Secretary Zhang said, somewhat intimidated.
Lin Dongzhe stretched and said, "Uncle Zhang, I want to go back to my dorm to sleep! Would you like that?"
Secretary Zhang's wife is too old; it probably wouldn't be comfortable for him to sleep in her arms.
After considering it for a moment, Secretary Zhang, holding his wife and embracing Lin Dongzhe, went to find Song Ying that very night. "The housing management department must have made a mistake. I'll have Lao Song go to the housing management department tomorrow. There's definitely no problem with this."
After repeatedly hinting to Song Ying not to make a fuss, and giving Lin Dongzhe a wink, Secretary Zhang finally pulled his wife away leisurely.
Song Ying carried Lin Dongzhe back to the dormitory with a blank expression. Li Yuping greeted her, "Sister Ying, give Dongzhe to me! I can't fall asleep without holding Dongzhe!"
After placing Lin Dongzhe on Li Yuping's bed, Song Ying reminded her, "Xiao Li, be careful. We've been outside freezing for most of the day, and Dongzhe is almost frozen to the bone!"
"Not bad, look how warm his little hands are!" Holding Lin Dongzhe, she found the most comfortable position, lay down, and covered him with the blanket.
Lying on the fragrant, soft spot, Lin Dongzhe looked out the window. Aunt Zhu was outside, looking at the moon with a hint of melancholy in her eyes.
Lin Dongzhe silently thought to himself, "You only need to wait four or five more days, and your period will come! I only used acupuncture to postpone it for half a month."
Fine, I'll be kind enough to keep an eye on you for the next few days! That way you won't actually commit suicide and cause me to develop inner demons.
Two weeks later, the housing allocation was posted. Song Ying and Huang Ling were among those listed.
When Lin Dongzhe was in school, he asked Zhuang Xiaoting, "Is your family moving to a new house?"
Zhuang Xiaoting looked up. "How did you know?"
"I know everything!" Lin Dongzhe smiled confidently. "After school, I'll go to your house with you to meet your parents. We've been assigned to the same compound."
After school, he asked Xu Ergou, Zhao Lujiaren, and Sun Siwen to each pass on a message to Song Ying, telling her that he was going to a classmate's house for dinner that night.
Lin Dongzhe was afraid that if he only sent one person to deliver the message, it would be lost.
If Song Ying couldn't find her child after school, she would be frantic with worry.
However, when they arrived at Zhuang Xiaoting's house, Zhuang Chaoying's expression was rather unpleasant.
"Hello, uncles and aunts! My name is Lin Dongzhe, my mother's name is Song Ying, and you should know Aunt Huang!" Lin Dongzhe loudly introduced himself.
Huang Ling greeted Lin Dongzhe warmly, "Hello, Lin... what was Lin again?"
"His name is Lin Dongzhe!" Zhuang Xiaoting reminded her mother.
Huang Ling gave a slightly awkward laugh. "Right, right, Dongzhe, have you told your mother yet?"
She was also worried that the child might have come on their own, causing concern for the parents.
“I already said that! Uncle and Aunt, are you going out?” Lin Dongzhe pointed to two vegetable baskets filled with meat by the door.
The hard times were not completely over yet, and meat products were still subject to limited distribution and sales; people wouldn't buy meat unless there was a special reason.
Zhuang Chaoying interjected, "Little Dongzhe, tonight we're going to Xiaoting's grandma's house."
The implication was that he wanted Lin Dongzhe to be sensible and go back on his own.
Lin Dongzhe said, "Grandma? Grandma is great! I've never met my grandma before. I'll go see Xiaoting's grandma and see what she looks like."
Zhuang Chaoying scratched the back of her head, feeling utterly exhausted. She had never expected a first-grader to understand her.
