Chapter 340 Not Accepting Apology
Chapter 340 Not Accepting Apology
"It's not to settle things for me, it's for you," Old Mrs. Gu corrected Gu Yinshen in a serious tone.
Hearing this, Gu Yinshen sneered, "So should I thank you now? You're the one who let me know that Ji Mengran has left the basement of my villa?"
"Yin Shen, we are mother and son, don't speak so hostilely." Old Mrs. Gu placed her hand on the back of Gu Yin Shen's hand with a slightly nervous expression.
Gu Yinshen glanced down at her and immediately pushed her hand away.
Seeing that she only pushed her hand away and didn't say anything, Old Madam Gu deliberately softened her demeanor, "Yin Shen, Mom knows she was wrong. I was confused back then and didn't understand your relationship with Ruolan, but now Mom understands. Your happiness is the happiness of our Gu family."
"Do you really understand?" Gu Yinshen stared at Old Madam Gu's face.
The questioning tone made Old Mrs. Gu feel a little guilty.
"Yin Shen, I know that what happened before hurt the relationship between my son and me, but now I really want to mend our relationship," Grandma Gu said sincerely.
Gu Yinshen didn't take these words to heart at all. He still spoke expressionlessly, "I understand. Is there anything else? If not, you can go back."
The blatant act of driving her away instantly shattered the smile on Old Madam Gu's face. She took a step forward, raised her hand, and looked at Gu Yinshen, who had turned away, keeping his distance from her. "Yinshen!"
She called out in a cold, desolate voice, but all she got in return was Gu Yinshen turning around and opening the study door.
Grandma Gu stood there, watching him leave the study without even looking up.
He said he understood, which means he would send someone to bring Ji Mengran back?
Or did he find out and simply not want to have anything to do with her anymore?
The first option would be perfect for Grandma Gu. But the second option would mean she would be constantly harassed by Ji Mengran.
Grandma Gu looked up at the corridor outside the door; Gu Yinshen had already walked far away.
Downstairs living room.
Hearing the footsteps, Aunt Xue and Aunt Ping immediately looked up at the steps.
Seeing Gu Yinshen come down alone, they felt both curious and puzzled.
Where is Ruolan?
No sooner had Gu Yinshen finished asking than Ruolan poked half her body out of the kitchen, saying, "I'm here."
"Why are you still busy in the kitchen?"
"Mom's here now, and you're back from work. I was thinking of preparing a few more dishes so we can have lunch together at home."
Gu Yinshen was somewhat surprised by Ruolan's words.
Back then, Old Mrs. Gu hurt her so cruelly. Didn't she hold any grudge in her heart at all?
Upon hearing this, Gu Yinshen gave a helpless, bitter smile. Her memories hadn't fully returned, so how could she possibly harbor resentment?
"Yin Shen, what's wrong?" Ruolan looked at Gu Yin Shen's sudden bitter smile and couldn't help but feel puzzled.
Approaching Ruolan, Gu Yinshen brushed away the stray hairs beside her face. "It's nothing, I was just thinking about some things at the company."
After saying that, she looked at the fresh vegetables prepared on the cabinet and said, "There's no need to prepare so much, she's not staying for lunch."
Just as she finished speaking, Old Madam Gu happened to appear on the steps. Following the direction of the sound, she saw Gu Yinshen stroking Ruolan's arm with a tender expression.
Ruolan was puzzled by his words. "Why? It's already lunchtime."
"She has plans," Gu Yinshen casually offered as an excuse.
"I canceled it." Grandma Gu quickly came down the steps. "I just canceled my appointment."
"Great! I've just prepared a few more dishes. We can wash our hands and get ready to eat."
As Ruolan spoke, Aunt Ping and Aunt Xue immediately went into the kitchen and brought out the plated dishes, placing them on the dining table.
Grandma Gu didn't give Gu Yinshen a chance at all. She quickly pulled out one of the dining chairs and sat down on it.
She was determined to have this meal.
Grandma Gu turned around and looked at Gu Yinshen and Ruolan, who were still standing there without moving. Like the mistress of the house, she reached out and invited them, "Don't stand there, come and sit down."
Ruolan tugged at Gu Yinshen's arm and led him to sit down at the dining table.
Gu Yinshen's face was long; he didn't understand why Old Madam Gu insisted on staying for the so-called lunch.
"Ruolan, how have you been lately? Are you feeling alright?"
Ruolan was taken aback by Grandma Gu's sudden concern. In her memory, she seemed to have never been shown any concern by Grandma Gu before.
Could it be that her memory is confused and she's made a mistake?
Worried that a long response time might not be appropriate, she quickly cleared the jumbled thoughts from her mind. "It's fine."
"That's good. Seeing that your relationship with Yinshen is still as good as before, I feel at ease." Grandma Gu's words made Gu Yinshen's face darken even more.
He picked up the chopsticks in front of him, took a bite of food, and placed it on the plate in front of Old Mrs. Gu, saying, "Try it."
"Okay." Grandma Gu immediately picked up the chopsticks next to her, picked up the food, and put it in her mouth.
How could she not know that Gu Yinshen suddenly serving her food was just a way to shut her up from her constant chatter?
Grandma Gu didn't take it seriously and chewed happily.
Following Gu Yinshen's example, Ruolan picked up the serving chopsticks and put some food on Old Madam Gu's plate. Facing Old Madam Gu's gaze, she gently explained, "Mom, my cooking skills aren't very good. Please don't blame me if it's not to your liking."
"It's delicious," Grandma Gu said approvingly.
Aunt Xue and Aunt Ping, watching from the side, felt a pang of sadness. They had been at the Gu residence for more than a year or two, and they had witnessed everything that had happened before.
Now, Old Madam Gu is taking advantage of Ruolan's loss of her previous memories to pretend to be a good person, which is really frustrating to listen to.
Apart from Old Mrs. Gu enjoying the meal, neither Gu Yinshen nor Ruolan felt relaxed or at ease.
Gu Yinshen, in particular, would watch her very warily whenever the old lady spoke, fearing that she might deliberately say something she shouldn't.
Fortunately, the meal passed peacefully.
Gu Yinshen didn't let Old Madam Gu stay long. He took her with him on his way to the company and left the Gu residence together.
In the car.
"Next time you need something, call us. Don't show up at the Gu residence so casually, and don't meet with Ruolan without permission," Gu Yinshen warned coldly.
Grandma Gu, shameless and feigning sadness, said, "Yin Shen, I've already apologized to you and admitted my mistake. Haven't you forgiven me yet?"
"What you did can't be erased with a few apologies." Gu Yinshen gradually pulled the car over to the side of the road.
