The most powerful wizard in the magic world

Chapter 226 Action Change

Chapter 226 Action Change

The residual smell after the battle still lingered around Gerlin, the strong smell of gunpowder and rust intertwined, creating an uneasy atmosphere. The spoils were scattered around, but Gerlin couldn't completely relax. He observed the magic items and a sense of vigilance surged in his heart.

"These things look dangerous." He frowned and pointed at several weapons that were shining with strange light. "When the enemy fights, they are likely to use some means of controlling magic. If these magic items are cursed, the user is likely to suffer backlash."

Kelly came over, her eyes wandering over the mysterious items, and she seemed to be worried. "You mean, we have to check them one by one to make sure there is no hidden hand buried in them?"

"That's right," Gerlin nodded seriously, "We can't let our guard down, especially before someone realizes our location. Any curse or magic left behind will pose a potential threat to us." He slowly squatted down and carefully examined a dagger that was flashing with a cold light.

"This dagger seems... not clean." He ran his fingers gently over the runes on the blade and found that some of the symbols began to dim. "These runes are used to increase damage, but I feel that there is a breath of dark magic hidden in them."

"Then what should we do?" Kelly said anxiously, "Should we destroy it directly? But doing so might attract the attention of other enemies."

"Put it aside first, don't let it touch our other items. Maybe we can dismantle them in a safe place." Gerling looked up and saw Eagle beside him, who was also busy checking the spoils. "Eagle, did you find anything?"

"There are several bottles of potions and a magic ring here." Eagle excitedly showed what he had found, "But I don't know what effect this ring has."

"Take a close look at the runes on the ring." Gerlin's tone became serious. "It should have special properties. We can't use it without permission, otherwise it will become uncontrollable like these magical items."

Eagle quickly turned the ring over and carefully observed the symbol that was flickering with a faint light. "I've seen this symbol before. It's a defensive magic. I heard that it can temporarily enhance the user's ability to resist and avoid direct damage." He said, his tone revealing a hint of excitement, but also mixed with hesitation.

"We still have to be careful," Gelling warned. "Even seemingly harmless items may hide dangers. Rather than blindly using them, it is better to save them for analysis in a safe environment in the future."

Kelly took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. "In short, we must remain vigilant. Even the smallest clue may be the key to our success."

Gellin slowly stood up and looked into the distance, where he could hear slight footsteps and low voices. He immediately became alert and urged his team members to keep quiet. "Did you hear that? We need to find cover immediately, otherwise we might be discovered by the enemy."

"Quick, let's hide behind the stone pillar over there." Kelly pointed to a hidden area next to the battlefield, and the three of them moved quickly there, nervously but quickly.

"Are there more loot around here?" Eagle was trying to hide his eagerness. He was still dissatisfied with not being able to plunder more.

"Don't worry," Gellin whispered, "Safety is the most important thing now. We can't take any risks. We have to wait for the enemies to leave before we can proceed with the next plan."

At this moment, Kelly's eyes suddenly fell on a green vine badge a few meters away. The badge was embedded in the chest of a fallen enemy. It was shaped like a blooming flower, but it exuded a unique aura. "Wait a minute...what is that?" She said timidly, "It looks a little unusual."

"That's the iconic symbol on Gados..." Gerlin's expression changed slightly, and he felt a complex emotion in his heart. Gados, his name lingered around like a shadow, representing the contract and curse with the abyss. This vine emblem should not be underestimated.

"If we rob him directly, it may cause unnecessary trouble." He whispered to the team members, "Our current mission is to obtain intelligence rather than provoke him."

"But it looks very tempting, and it may enhance our strength." Eagle advised softly, hesitantly. "And we can complete the mission faster, so..."

"It's dangerous." Gerling interrupted him. "If this item is not properly controlled, it may lead to the opposite effect. What we want now is safety, not falling into the enemy's trap again."

Kelly also nodded, and after careful consideration, she said, "Besides, Gados is no ordinary enemy. He is ambitious, and his obsession with the power of the abyss will bring huge consequences. Rather than taking risks, we might as well save this badge for later countermeasures."

Garlin agreed silently. Although he was slightly tempted by the utilitarianism in his heart, he knew that he must not lose his mind now. "So, we will keep it," he said to Kelly and Eagle, "and continue to move to a safer place, always paying attention to the surroundings."

The team members nodded and moved forward, carefully avoiding possible dangers in the shadows, but Gerling was still uneasy. He knew that although the badge was abandoned here, it would become a hidden worry in the future.

After several tense sneaks, they finally found a more secluded location, far away from the battlefield. It was a small hill where they could rest for a while and analyze the spoils at hand.

"Now we can safely check the items we found before." Gelling paused and looked around. "Make sure each item is safe, sort them, and then plan the next course of action."

Kelly and Eagle quickly began to sort out the information, while Gerling sat down and carefully thought about the contents of the black-red cover notebook in his hand. He knew that the enemy was not just a simple hostility, but probably had a more complicated background and tricks than they imagined.

"We need to find a way to decipher these ancient runes, if possible." Gerlin whispered to himself, his misunderstanding and paranoid thoughts gradually turning into clear revolutionary actions.
