Chapter 301 Argument

Chapter 301 Argument

"What? What did you say?" Morgan Lima's face was filled with astonishment, his voice unconsciously rising an octave. "You said this car accident might have been orchestrated by the American Bureau of Investigation? How is that possible! They are our allies, and we have an offensive and defensive alliance!"

He stared at Morgan Lima with wide eyes in disbelief, as if he had heard the most ridiculous thing in the world. Morgan Lima, however, looked calm, as if he had anticipated David Li's reaction.

"Who told you that nonsense?" Morgan Lima continued to roar, "You actually believed all this? Is your brain out of whack?" His face turned red with anger, and the veins on his forehead bulged.

"You even told us not to carry out the plan we just made, lest you profit from the conflict." Morgan Lima's tone grew increasingly contemptuous. "I really don't know how you became Prime Minister. You don't even understand such a simple principle."

David Li's anger was completely ignited by Morgan Lima's words. He suddenly stood up from his seat and clenched his hands into fists. "You...are you questioning my ability?"

However, despite the rage threatening to burst forth, David Li forcibly held it back. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He knew that his rise to the position of Prime Minister was entirely due to the support of Morgan Lima's grandfather, Philip Lima. If it weren't for the influence of the Lima family, he wouldn't have been able to achieve his current position.

So, even though Morgan Lima was just an arrogant young man, David Li couldn't get angry with him. He could only sit back in his chair silently, suppressing his anger, but his expression still looked a little stiff and unnatural.

Seeing that Morgan Lima was still trying to argue, David Li stopped arguing and quickly turned his gaze to Mrs. M. He smiled and asked politely, "Madam, what does MI5 think about this matter?"

Mrs. M didn't respond immediately, but instead glanced around. Her gaze was as sharp as a hawk's, seemingly piercing everyone's heart. Everyone present, scrutinized by her, felt awe, afraid to meet her gaze.

After a moment's silence, Mrs. M finally spoke slowly: "I agree with the Prime Minister's point of view." Her voice was low and powerful, with an unquestionable majesty.

Then, Mrs. M continued, "According to the intelligence we received from the Hong Kong branch and America, the American Bureau of Investigation is indeed implementing a plan to target Hong Kong's return."

As soon as she finished speaking, a murmur erupted in the conference room. Everyone was whispering, clearly shocked and concerned by Mrs. M's words. After all, the American Bureau of Investigation's operation involved something as significant as Hong Kong's return to power, undoubtedly an extremely sensitive and important topic.

Most people initially favored Morgan Lima's view. However, as head of MI5, Mrs. M's expertise and experience in the intelligence field were unmatched. Her position of authority was significant, and her opinions were naturally valued. Therefore, when she expressed a different view, while others remained skeptical, they hesitated to contradict her for fear of offending this important figure.

Mrs. M, smiling, quietly watched the discussion unfold. She seemed in no rush to interrupt, patiently waiting for the discussion to subside. After about five minutes, the noise in the conference room gradually subsided, and everyone's attention returned to Mrs. M.

At this point, Mrs. M cleared her throat and continued, "According to our think tank's in-depth analysis, China is adopting a conservative and tolerant strategy in the face of this major event of Hong Kong's return. Their primary goal is to ensure Hong Kong's stability and prosperity, not to cause chaos and disorder. This is of paramount importance to them."

She paused briefly, giving everyone time to digest her words, then continued, "Because of this, despite our earlier tactics, the Chinese side didn't react strongly. They're willing to make a considerable compromise to maintain Hong Kong's stability. They won't resort to radical tactics until things get out of hand."

Mrs. M's analysis was like a stone that stirred up a thousand waves, causing some of the nobles present to nod in agreement. However, Morgan Lima was not convinced. He thought to himself, "Hmph, this woman is just showing off her eloquence." So he decided to stand up and refute her, if only to show his uniqueness.

Morgan Lima gracefully raised his hand and gently tapped the table, making a crisp sound. This action attracted everyone's attention, and everyone turned their eyes to him. He raised the corner of his mouth slightly, revealing a faint smile, and then said slowly: "Madam, your analysis is indeed ingenious and admirable. However, it is only theoretical after all. Now the facts are in front of us. Such a tragic car accident occurred in Hong Kong. The casualties are all citizens of our Great Eagle Empire! Moreover, as far as I know, there was not a single Chinese person at the scene. It seems that those Chinese are undoubtedly the biggest suspects. Analysis is important, but at this critical moment, what we need more is solid evidence. If you insist that it is the Americans who are behind this, then please provide strong evidence, otherwise, your remarks are nothing but empty talk."

Morgan Lima's remarks were clearly directed at Mrs. M. His tough stance stemmed from his disagreement with her views and from his family's close ties to America. The Lima family held numerous businesses in America, investing in numerous American companies and maintaining close ties with political and business figures. Any disruption in America would undoubtedly result in significant losses for the Lima family. Therefore, Morgan Lima was determined to protect America's image to avoid unnecessary trouble for his family.

Just as Mrs. M was about to speak, the door to the conference room suddenly opened again. Everyone's eyes turned to the door, only to see a handsome young man with blond hair and blue eyes stride in.

The man was tall, well-dressed, and exuded confidence and charm. He walked directly to Mrs. M, leaned over, and whispered something in her ear. Mrs. M nodded slightly, indicating understanding, and then the man turned and quickly left the meeting room, as if his presence was solely to deliver these words.

Mrs. M coughed lightly and tapped the table with her hand, calling everyone's attention. Her voice was clear and powerful. "Okay, now let's get the latest news out. Hong Kong police have reported that they have located the vehicles involved in the accident: three dump trucks. However, worryingly, the drivers of all three vehicles are missing. Hong Kong police are currently fully mobilized and are searching for the three drivers."

Morgan Lima suddenly interrupted Mrs. M before she finished speaking. He frowned and asked anxiously, "Madam, have you found out the ownership of these three cars and the relevant information of the drivers?"

Mrs. M didn't take Morgan Lima's rude behavior seriously. She responded calmly, "Currently, the Hong Kong police are conducting an in-depth investigation into this matter. According to the information we have, the three vehicles involved were all involved in three construction sites near the Hong Kong Governor's Palace. The contractor for these three sites is none other than the Hong Kong Longteng Company, a Chinese-owned enterprise that has risen in recent years."

Mrs. M paused and continued, "Longteng Company has a very close relationship with mainland China, and there are a lot of business transactions between them. However, the specific information about the driver has not yet been found."

Morgan Lima heard this and couldn't wait to interrupt, "Oh, Longteng Company, I've heard of them. I heard they're actually a special agency set up by the Chinese government in Hong Kong. So, isn't the evidence now obvious? These vehicles belong to a Chinese company, and the casualties are all citizens of our Great Eagle Empire. Isn't this enough to prove that this was done by the Chinese?"

Morgan Lima became more and more excited as he spoke. He was full of confidence in his own inference, as if he had already uncovered the truth of the incident.
