He carried his son and placed him on the living room sofa.

"Sit here quietly for a bit, I’ll take mommy to apply some medicine, and I’ll be back soon."

Though Yu Shuo’s voice was gentle, everyone could hear the unnaturalness and stiffness in his words.

Ruirui’s eyes were innocent and didn’t respond or make any move, obediently sitting on the sofa.

Father and son stared into each other’s eyes, as if it were a confrontation.

Yu Shuo wanted the child to speak, but Ruirui’s gaze was pure and naive.

In the end, it was Ruirui who couldn’t hold on and looked up to his mother for help.

Yin Yufei pursed her lips, showing guilt and unease on her face.

Her voice hoarse, she said, "Ruirui cannot speak."

Yin Yufei didn’t dare meet his gaze, lowered her eyes, and repeated, "Ruirui cannot speak but he can hear."

The expression in Yu Shuo’s eyes shifted from complex to shocked, showing heartache and sadness on his face.

He stared at Yin Yufei as if his gaze were a branding iron, making her tremble all over.

If she could, she would want to grab Ruirui and run for the door.
