Chapter 301 Fugui's Mission
Chapter 301 Fugui's Mission
After a long while, Fugui'er was the first to look away.
He lowered his head and adjusted his glasses again, as if it were just an ordinary gesture.
When he looked up again, his face had regained its usual calm, tinged with a sense of detachment.
"Understood," he replied briefly.
“Very good.” Hui seemed satisfied with his cooperation. “Then, I’ll wait for your news. Remember, don’t keep me waiting too long, and don’t try anything funny. For Qinghan’s sake, I think you know what to do.”
Having said that, Hui said no more. He stepped back and, as if melting away, disappeared into the dense shadows once more, vanishing without a trace, as if he had never existed.
In the wilderness, only Fugui'er remained.
He stood alone in the cool moonlight, his shadow stretched long.
He remained motionless for a long time, simply gazing in the direction where the comet had disappeared. Behind his glasses, his eyes were as deep as an ancient well, utterly calm.
A night breeze swept by, carrying the distant howls of unknown wild beasts.
After a long while, he turned around, transformed back into a king cobra, and silently swam back the way he came, disappearing into the vast night.
The wilderness returned to silence, as if the secret and dangerous transaction just now was merely an illusion cast by the moonlight.
------------
Tiger and Lion City, Castle Gardens.
The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow on the carefully tended flowerbeds and lawn.
Qianqian was sitting under a tree full of pink flowers, with a tanned animal hide spread out on her lap, and a charcoal pencil in her hand, carefully drawing something.
Little White stood on the grass next to her, tilting its head, its black bean-like eyes curiously looking at the picture book, occasionally chirping as if making a comment.
Ajin, not far away, leaned against a smooth rock, a blade of grass between her teeth, her gaze seemingly casually sweeping across the garden.
Since being caught eavesdropping by Di Lin that day, he has indeed never gone near the floor where the secret room in the castle is located.
But the unease that lingered in his heart did not disappear; he simply hid it very well.
"Ah Jin! Ah Jin! Come and see!" A soft, sweet voice interrupted his thoughts.
Ah Jin spat out the grass stem and walked over: "What did you draw?"
"Look, I drew Little White!" Qianqian held up the sketchbook.
Although the charcoal drawing is immature, it captures the essence of the little white creature's round, fluffy appearance, especially its pair of bright black eyes, which are drawn with great spirit.
Next to it was a simple drawing of a little girl, clearly Qianqian herself, smiling as she reached out to stroke Xiaobai's head.
"Hmm, not bad." Ah Jin glanced at it and gave a fair assessment, but her gaze involuntarily drifted towards the main building of the castle.
Everything seemed normal, but he just felt that something was happening.
"It's just okay?" Qianqian pouted unhappily. "I think it's drawn very well! Don't you think so, Xiaobai?" She turned to ask the little bird.
Xiao Bai immediately chirped twice, jumped onto Qianqian's shoulder, affectionately rubbed her cheek, and then gave Ajin a look that said, "You have bad taste."
Ajin was amused by the chubby little bird that was "spoiled and arrogant".
He reached out, seemingly casually wanting to poke Little White's round belly, but Little White immediately jumped away alertly, landing on a slightly higher branch and making two "cooing" sounds at him, as if in protest.
"Ah Jin, stop bullying Xiao Bai!" Qianqian protectively beckoned Xiao Bai back to her hand and gently stroked its fur.
"I didn't bully it at all. I was training its reaction ability." Ajin said this nonsense with a straight face, but her gaze drifted away again.
He recalled that day at the entrance to the secret chamber, Di Lin's golden eyes that seemed to see through everything, and his final warning.
"Ah Jin? Ah Jin!" Qianqian waved her hand in front of his eyes. "What are you thinking about? You seem so engrossed."
Ah Jin snapped out of her daze and met Qianqian's clear, concerned eyes, her heart softening slightly.
This innocent little girl, who regarded him as her best friend, was the only one in this unfamiliar city who made him feel warm and relaxed.
He didn't want her to get involved in those complicated and dangerous things.
"Nothing," he shook his head, changing the subject, "I was just wondering if they'd have those delicious honey-glazed chicken wings today."
That was his favorite dish after he came to Tiger Lion City.
Qianqian's attention was indeed diverted, and her eyes lit up: "Of course! Daddy Tiger knows you love to eat, and he said yesterday that he would prepare more today. Come on, let's go to the kitchen together."
She packed up the picture book, picked up Little White, and excitedly ran towards the castle.
Ah Jin watched her carefree figure disappear into the distance, sighed softly, and followed after her.
------------
Only after Qianqian returned safely to Tiger Lion City did Yuan Xiao's heart finally settle down.
These days, although the little one still occasionally wakes up from nightmares, with her older siblings by her side and her mother in her arms, the unease of surviving a disaster gradually fades away, and a bright smile returns to her face.
The sun was shining brightly that morning.
Yuan Xiao sat in the garden under the parasol that Ze Hui had specially made for her, enjoying a leisurely time.
It was an umbrella carefully made of animal hide and thin bamboo, with lovely patterns painted on its surface.
She held a cup of warm fruit tea, ate the fresh fruit she had picked that morning, and looked at the grass not far away, where Qianqian and Ajin were practicing short-distance flight with Xiaobai.
Little White fluttered its wings, stumbled and flew a short distance, then landed with a thud on the soft grass, rolled twice, then wobbled to its feet and continued to flutter about defiantly.
Qianqian clapped her hands to encourage it, while Ajin stood by with her arms crossed, occasionally offering a few pointers.
This heartwarming scene brought a smile to Yuan Xiao's face.
She took a sip of fruit tea, then suddenly remembered something and gently put the cup down.
"Come to think of it, it seems like it's been a long time since I've opened and looked at that task interface."
A thought flashed through her mind, and the familiar semi-transparent interface appeared before her eyes.
At the top of the interface, the words "Fugui'er's Task" are still clearly visible.
Yuan Xiao leisurely flipped through the task list, her finger lightly tracing over the completed and incomplete items.
Suddenly, she stopped moving.
"what?"
She blinked and looked closely.
In the completed task list, in addition to the previous items, two more records have appeared at some point.
"Ding! Congratulations on completing the Rich Child Task 10. The reward has been issued. Please check your account! Unlock the next task: Accumulate 5000 gold crystals."
"Ding! Congratulations on completing the Rich Child Task 11. The reward has been issued. Please check your account! Unlock the next task: Accumulate 8000 gold crystals."
Yuan Xiao tilted her head and thought for a moment. It was probably because the number of residents in Tiger Lion City was increasing, so it was becoming easier to accumulate wealth.
