Chapter 49 Mans's Ingenious Plan
Chapter 49 Mans's Ingenious Plan
The dark green sleeves fluttered in the wind, and azure light emanated from Su An's hands.
Like the energy blasts from Dragon Ball, the massive beam of light pierced through the water's surface and directly penetrated the dragon beneath.
There wasn't even a wailing sound; the dragon was annihilated by the pillar of light.
Dragon blood floated on the water like tar, seemingly attracting something beneath the Bronze City.
"Listen carefully, can you hear crying?" Su An suddenly asked.
Mans paused for a moment, then suddenly felt a splitting headache.
The sea breeze carried the cries of babies to his ears. Hundreds and thousands of babies cried in the sound of the waves, their cries so heart-wrenching, like steel knives scraping against his eardrums.
The lights from the Moniach shone on the sea, illuminating the dense shadows that gradually emerged on the water.
Their long tails were intertwined, and the scales on their bodies gleamed with a metallic blue light.
They huddled together, vying for the dragon blood on the water's surface. Sometimes they were tossed into the air by their companions, and other times they were pushed underwater. They kept wriggling, fighting with all their might for a little bit of dragon blood.
The unknown creatures resembled a swarm of snakes intertwined and mating, yet they emitted cries like those of infants, echoing across the vast sea like a dirge sung by ghosts from hell.
Mans trembled violently, barely able to hold the sniper rifle handle.
Su An grabbed Mans's wrist, stopping his trembling. His voice remained calm, "There's nothing to be nervous about. Those aren't ghosts or monsters, but mermaids from the mythology of the Classic of Mountains and Seas."
"Mermaids?" Professor Mans was stunned.
He had heard of merfolk; legends of merfolk existed in China from very early times. During the Wei and Jin dynasties, accounts of merfolk became increasingly numerous and detailed. They were mentioned in the poems and writings of Cao Zhi, Zuo Si, and Zhang Hua. Legend has it that merfolk lived a mysterious life. The *Sou Shen Ji* records: "Beyond the South Sea live merfolk, who live in the water like fish, yet they do not cease weaving. When they weep, pearls come out." Although scholars have continuously attempted to establish merfolk as marine animals or mermaids, no real merfolk have ever been discovered.
It turns out that the merfolk were hiding in Prince Norton's Bronze City, guarding him. The bursting blood of several dead dragon servants awakened them from their slumber, and they reappeared in the world.
Mans observed carefully and found that the merfolk were different from the mermaids in Western mythology. They had fish tails and human bodies, were five or six feet long, and looked like humans. Their eyebrows, eyes, mouth, nose, hands, feet, and faces all resembled those of beautiful women. Their skin was very white, without scales, and had fine hair. Their hair was like a horse's tail.
Most importantly, they all have extremely pretty faces.
Mans muttered, "This absolutely must not be seen by the vice principal."
"A pretty face is just an illusion," Su An said softly, her blue eyes shining.
As soon as Su An finished speaking, the merfolk all stared intently at him.
The merfolk's faces suddenly changed; their pretty faces were torn open by claws, revealing their ugly appearances.
Their eyes bulge out, their blood-soaked mouths are filled with sharp teeth, their chests display disgusting folds of flesh, and their long, thin tails resemble those of pythons.
"There are more and more merfolk," Su An said.
Yes, the shadows beneath the water grew larger and larger, swarming together like locusts. Countless golden eyes shot out a cold light from underwater, illuminating almost everyone on the deck.
The merfolk were chuckling and whispering something. Su An could understand the dragon language; it was a simple phrase inscribed in the fifth column of the eighth row on the dome of the Bronze City, meaning "Dinner is served."
"You really see me as your prey?"
An excited gleam appeared on Su An's lips as he pulled a hammer from his clothes.
"It's that hammer! You actually subdued it!" Mans held a high position in the Execution Department, and he recognized the hammer's origin at a glance. But in terms of dragon bloodline, all these merfolk combined were not as noble as this hammer.
But how could Su An possibly subdue such a dangerous hammer?
Su An laughed wildly as he raised the hammer, the pounding of his heart transmitting through his fingers.
He felt a boiling fighting spirit burning within him, and the hammer's will transmitted to him, yearning for a thrilling battle.
"Cover me up!" Su An roared as he charged toward the water.
He raised the hammer, twisted his arm, and swung it fiercely across the water, the powerful and domineering shockwave instantly spreading outwards.
A large group of merfolk at the epicenter of the tremor exploded instantly, their blood and shattered internal organs splattering into the air and falling like murky rain.
The merfolk, located on the periphery of the tremor, were less affected. Dragging their wounded bodies, they rushed toward the Moniah.
These merfolk were more cunning than imagined; they recognized who the easy targets were.
They only pick on the weakest ones.
Mans flung open the hatch and yelled inside, "Too many merfolk! Sniper rifles are too inefficient. What other weapons and equipment do we have?!"
"Only depth charges left!" the first mate roared in response. After Suan returned, he took the helm again, and the engine, running at full power, made the Moniah lurch like a mad swordfish. Sweat beaded on the first mate's forehead as he focused all his attention on the complex instrument panel.
"We're disguised as a tugboat now. To avoid trouble during inspections by navigation authorities, we've removed all our weapons and equipment, leaving only 10 miniature underwater bombs," the second mate, who was monitoring the sonar, explained, "Besides that, we don't even have a single mountain gun."
"Damn it! We can't be a burden to Suan, we have to do our part too!" Mans roared. "Then the underwater bombs! Prepare to release!"
Mans turned around and continued firing the bullets that trailed cold blue light into the water. These bullets, forged from alchemical materials, were the exact opposite of the "Frigga Bullets." Upon contact with the blood in a living organism, they would immediately explode, and the deadly toxins would attack the heart through the bloodstream.
While using the alchemical bullet to hinder wave after wave of merfolk, Selma glanced at Su An's large-scale massacre of weaklings in the distance.
She murmured, "How can there be such a huge difference between mixed-race people?"
Professor Mans patted her on the shoulder: "Don't think you can do it just because Su An is so easy at crushing newbies."
That was the most terrifying S-class control and the most terrifying alchemical weapon; Su An's power was far too exaggerated.
The merfolk were supposed to be Norton's most prized legion. They were bestowed with dragon blood by a noble being, their scales strengthened, their muscles and bones reshaped, and they were given sharp claws. Norton had done so much to build this great army, but he probably never imagined the existence of this giant hammer.
The bullets might not even penetrate its body, and even if a few bullets did, the toxins would only enrage it.
However, Mance no longer cared about offending him; either he killed the thing, or the thing killed them all. The thing was getting faster and faster, and if it weren't still trying to dodge Mance's bullets, it probably would have already caught up.
"What a thrilling battle!"
Mance smiled slightly, and Selma thought he had some brilliant plan, but Mance shouted into the microphone:
"Suan! The Monyach is in crisis! Requesting backup! Requesting backup!"
Selma also realized what was happening and yelled at the boy swinging the hammer in the distance, "Help! Help! Help!"
