Chapter 49 Cooperation in the Lower City
Schwarz's red mechanical eyes blinked steadily as the core processor rapidly analyzed Chen Feng's words and the current environmental data.
The energy reaction of the star core has indeed completely disappeared, the rift creations have ceased their activity, and the rift threat to the entire Yalilo VI has been completely eradicated—all of this information is clearly recorded in its database.
After a brief silence, Schwarz's deep, steady, synthesized electronic voice rang out: "Command confirmed: External threat star core" has been eliminated by the target individual: Chen Feng. The trigger condition for "core command protecting the city's living forces during the star core crisis" has expired.
Its mechanical head turned towards Chen Feng, the crimson light focusing: "Analysis conclusion: Highest priority external threat neutralized. Core command status: Neutralized."
Schwarzkopf's massive body slightly adjusted its posture, as if unloading an invisible burden. Although its movements remained mechanical, the oppressive feeling it gave off seemed to lessen somewhat.
"Based on the new environmental parameters, we are reassessing our survival strategies," Schwarz continued, adding that its core logic was beginning to load new task modules. "The primary objective now is to assist residents of the lower city in post-disaster reconstruction and recovery."
"Available resources include: mechanical corps maintenance, regional defense networks, underground mineral exploration data, and historical technical archives in the local database."
Chen Feng nodded in satisfaction: "That's right. Your strength and knowledge are invaluable to the lower district right now. You can rest assured about Clara's safety; with me here, no one can hurt her. Of course, you must also protect her yourself."
He smiled as he looked at the spontaneous little girl hiding beside Schwarzkopf's legs.
Clara nodded vigorously, her small hand gently tugging at Lasvaro's cold, metallic fingers. "Mr. Lasvaro, Clara wants to help too! We can work together to make our home a better place, right?"
Schwarz lowered his head, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded slightly.
Bronya watched this scene with a mix of emotions.
With the threat of the rift that had plagued the Lower City for hundreds of years lifted, even the guardian robot, which had always followed cold commands and sometimes even seemed inhuman, changed its stance and was willing to take the initiative to participate in the reconstruction.
This filled her with new hope and motivation for her future work.
“Mr. Swallow,” Bronya stepped forward, her tone sincere, “thank you so much for your help. Your mechanical legion and knowledge base are crucial to the Lower City’s recovery and rebuilding.”
"Regarding the specific reconstruction plan and resource allocation, I hope to have a detailed discussion with you, Ms. Natasha, Seele, and everyone in the Earthfire as soon as possible." She has begun to assume the role of acting High Keeper, thinking about how to integrate all forces.
Seele crossed her arms, her expression still a little awkward, but her tone had softened considerably: "Hmph, we should have done this a long time ago. Those robots under your command, you iron lump, are better off mining and building roads than just standing around. It saves us a lot of effort."
Although she was sharp-tongued, she clearly acknowledged the significant boost that Schwarzlo's transformation had provided.
Chen Feng looked at the group of people who were beginning to cooperate and rebuild, and especially saw the rekindled determination in Bronya's eyes, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
"Then we should let Natasha and the others know the current situation. Let's go back to Rocky Town. Swallow, you should be able to come with us now, right?" Chen Feng stepped forward and asked.
Schwarz nodded: "The request is reasonable: communicating with [Earthfire] will allow for a faster resumption of reconstruction work."
With the medical supplies they found and Clara, the group returned to the clinic in Rocky Hill, escorted by Swallow.
Pushing open the clinic door, she saw everyone returning and wore a gentle smile. But when her gaze fell on Swallow's massive metal body, her smile froze for a moment, and a barely perceptible hint of wariness and confusion flashed in her eyes.
"You're back? It's great that all the supplies have been found." Natasha's voice was still gentle, but her gaze swept between Schwarzkopf, Chen Feng, and the others.
"Mr. Schwarz? This is a rare visitor. Is there something you need, Clara?" She instinctively put Clara's situation first, assuming that Schwarz had come because of Clara.
Before Clara could answer, Seele stepped forward first, her tone still a little awkward, but much gentler than before: "Natasha, don't be nervous."
"This big iron block—cough, Swallow isn't here to cause trouble." She pointed at Chen Feng, "He's the one who solved the previous problem; now the situation is different."
After Swallow explained the situation again, Natasha looked a little confused when she learned the truth, but she quickly understood.
She stepped forward and solemnly extended her hand to Schwarz's cold, metallic body: "Welcome to us, Mr. Schwarz. Your strength and skills are a godsend for the Lower City right now."
Schwarz's red mechanical eye blinked, as if analyzing the social implications of this "welcome".
A moment later, it stiffly raised a huge metal arm, not to grasp Natasha's hand, but to gently touch the back of Natasha's outstretched hand with its palm, producing a slight metallic clinking sound.
Agreement: Cooperation. Goal: Reconstruction. Efficiency: Maximize.
This clumsy yet well-intentioned "handshake" drew knowing smiles from everyone. Even Seele, who was standing to the side with her arms crossed, twitched her lips slightly, as if she wanted to laugh but was forcibly holding it back.
"What? What? Did I miss something?!" At this moment, the door next to her was pushed open. Xing was stunned when she saw the scene in front of her, and then she quickly asked.
March 7th and Danheng followed closely behind, looking at the crowd with expressions of astonishment and curiosity.
"Let me explain—" Bronya stepped forward and explained the current situation to the train crew.
"Huh!!!" Xing was completely stunned after hearing this, turning to look at Chen Feng: "Doesn't that mean you've solved everything, Dad? What chance do we have then?!"
Upon hearing this, Chen Feng seemed a little embarrassed and scratched his head, saying, "It seems, probably, that's how it is."
Chen Feng hadn't expected to run into Schwarz. Since he'd already encountered him, he figured he might as well deal with it once and for all. He'd completely forgotten that the original purpose of bringing Xing and the others down was to resolve this matter.
"We really didn't feel like we were part of this pioneering trip," March 7th rarely complained.
Dan Heng didn't reply. In fact, he didn't care much. Or rather, given Belloberg's current situation, Chen Feng's approach was indeed the best. The longer it dragged on, the worse it would be for Yalilo VI.
