Chapter 56 Is Dumbledore really a good person?
Kane was wearing a horned hat, and because of the horns, he couldn't properly squeeze into the lounge, so he had to tilt his head and squeeze in.
After finally getting inside, they saw Harry and his two companions gathered around the exit, each with a strange, restrained smile on their face.
"So...you really do have a cross-dressing fetish, right?" Ron said quietly.
"So that explains why you used to wear flower wreaths," Harry said knowingly.
As for Hermione, since she didn't know much about Kane, she just kept laughing.
"Ah, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to laugh at me, but I won't take it to heart, because I'll find a chance to tear up all of your homework." Kane said casually as he took the food bag that Harry handed him.
Just as he was about to tear open the bag to eat, Harry crawled straight out through the hole.
"...Did it really take me this long to make a hat?" Kane sighed and hung the food bag on the hat's horn, then tilted his head and climbed out again.
Because of the Quidditch match, everyone was heading towards the Quidditch pitch, and almost everyone who saw Kane's distinctive hat would come over to greet him warmly and touch the horns on it.
As for those who aren't so enthusiastic and are a bit more introverted, they're also staring intently at the two cow horns on the hat.
If they hadn't seen Kane riding Walnut out of the Forbidden Forest from a great distance, they would have thought Kane had murdered Hagrid's cow.
"Hey Kane, why do you insist on wearing that hat?" Hermione asked curiously. After all, the temperature-regulating spell on Kane's robes was already enough to keep him from getting too hot or cold, so why would he need to wear that hat...?
It can't really be a transvestite, can it?
"Want to see?" Kane asked, his eyes half-moon-shaped.
Hermione nodded.
Kane didn't play games; he played it real. He grabbed the two bull horns with both hands and lifted them up. In just an instant, he felt all the heat in his body being drained away.
His face, which had previously retained some human color, turned as white as marble in an instant, and upon closer inspection, it even appeared bluish.
Kane timed it perfectly, putting his hat back on almost a second before he started losing health, and then turned up the power of the heat stone to make up for the heat lost in that instant.
"So now you know why I'm wearing this hat," Kane explained before continuing toward the Quidditch pitch.
Hermione nodded, her lips twitching. She now truly understood just how afraid Kane was of the cold.
As for why he's so afraid of the cold... it's understandable. He's a blue-blooded noble, after all. To distinguish himself from commoners, he always comes up with a whole bunch of unpredictable tricks.
And these Celestial Dragons, the nobles of the magical world, might also do some strange things to their bodies in order to maintain that so-called superior status.
The four soon parted ways in the Quidditch stands. Harry took his broom and headed towards the team, while the other three sat in the stands, waiting for the game to begin.
As time went by, Quidditch might have seemed interesting to other young wizards, like Ron, who found himself inexplicably excited watching the butts flying around in the sky.
However, Kane and Hermione had absolutely no interest in a match with rules they couldn't understand; they were only there to support Harry.
"You'd be better off reading in the library," Kane said with a touch of melancholy, not knowing why Slytherin had given him another five points.
"Who says it isn't..." Hermione said, then suddenly stopped, because Harry in the sky, for some reason, seemed to have lost his broomstick and was suddenly flying around like a headless fly.
"What's going on? Is Harry's flying broomstick malfunctioning?" Hermione asked, frowning with concern.
Ron, who was standing nearby, also noticed the problem. After thinking for less than a second, he concluded: "It's Snape! Before today, I always thought Snape just disliked Harry and was making things difficult for him in class, but now it seems that Snape probably really wants to get rid of Harry!"
Kane raised an eyebrow at Ron, whose face flushed and paled in turns: "Why did you say that?"
"Use this telescope." Ron carefully handed the telescope to Kane, letting him see Snape's incessantly chattering mouth through it: "Snape is chanting a spell."
Kane only glanced at Snape for a moment before moving on to the next target, and sure enough, Quirrell, like Snape, kept his mouth moving.
"It should be Quirrell, not Snape. At least Dumbledore has hinted to me more than once that Quirrell isn't a good person, but he's never once spoken ill of Snape to my face. Isn't that Hermione? You know Quirrell, he... Hermione?"
..........
"Where's Hermione?" Kane frowned and was about to take off his binoculars when he saw Hermione through the binoculars.
Right beneath the railing of Snape's seat, she burned Snape's respectable new robes with an evil expression that didn't suit her face at all.
Ron, who was also watching this scene through binoculars, swallowed hard.
"Hermione is such a great friend, so relatable."
"Who can argue with that?"
Although Hermione's target was a bit off, the effect was surprisingly good. Because Snape suddenly burst into flames in the stands, he successfully turned the entire Professor's Stand into chaos.
Now not only Snape, but Quirrell can no longer complain either; Harry has successfully regained control of his broom.
"How is it? Is Harry's broom working again?" Hermione asked excitedly when she returned.
What could Kane and Ron do? They could only exchange a glance and simultaneously give Hermione a thumbs up.
"That's realistic enough."
This is their only assessment of Hermione at this moment.
Harry, having tamed his broomsticks again, lived up to expectations, defeating the Slytherin in just twenty minutes.
Of course, he still didn't know how he was killed. Kane, who was sleeping soundly in his chair, was suddenly awakened by the sound of the explosion from the Gryffindor stands. He then saw Harry walking over in a cheerful manner and realized what had happened.
The four of them walked down from the stands. Their original plan was to go back to the Gryffindor common room to have a good chat about why Harry's broom had malfunctioned. However, just then, Hagrid arrived on Walnut to pick them up, intending to give Harry a good celebration for his successful debut.
Soon, in Hagrid's hut, even with a campfire beside him, he still wore his horned hat and didn't move an inch while the others chatted enthusiastically.
Harry, looking at him with some confusion, patted him and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Kane realized what was happening and, seeing the people around him, ultimately didn't say what he wanted to say, even though the things Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid were talking about were also very important.
The mysterious fourth-floor secret room, what Dumbledore hid, and who exactly was planning to murder Harry.
But compared to that, what Kane was thinking was more important.
Is Dumbledore really a good person?
This problem troubled him all afternoon, until late at night, when the stone statue guarding Dumbledore's office door was moved aside with a clatter, and Kane walked up the steps to the door of Dumbledore's office.
He knew he couldn't possibly figure this out himself, so he decided to ask directly.
