Chapter 92 The Ball
"Ah—I think this one is the most similar." Flitwick raised an eyebrow, glanced at the Hamilton professors, and then pointed to a student next to Loira.
"Hey! Mr. Frivi! I'm the real one!" Roy instinctively wanted to say something, but she immediately realized what she was doing and covered her mouth.
"Thank you for your participation, Professor Flitwick." George, whom McGonagall had just recognized, smiled and bowed slightly.
"Who should we go see next?" asked another student, presumably Fred's student.
"How's Hagrid?" a student suggested. "He's quite familiar with Professor Hamilton."
"Yes! Hagrid might be a good candidate!" George nodded as well. "We can also ask him about Professor Hamilton while we're at it."
"I heard she's sick, isn't she?" a student asked casually.
"It seems so." George and Fred exchanged a glance. "But we've been to the school hospital before."
"She's not there—"
Ah—Professor Hamilton is right next to you—Loira looked at the students with a wry smile; she wanted to run away.
I want to sit on the professor's chair like Dumbledore, doing absolutely nothing, instead of being swept along—
"Hagrid!" George walked up to the giant-like man and said, "We need to talk to you. Who do you think most resembles Professor Hamilton?"
"Huh?" The giant-like man turned his head, revealing an eight-eyed spider mask on his face.
"By Merlin!" Roy and Hagrid murmured almost simultaneously.
Why would Hagrid disguise himself as a spider? Loira felt terrified just looking at the mask, after all, they could talk!
And Hagrid is still... talking.
"Are you all dressed up as Professor Hamilton?" Hagrid shook his head slightly. "Fred, and George, I think this seems to be the right thing to do! Yes! Criticize them!"
Hagrid was speaking when he suddenly noticed Professor Hamilton standing in the corner, and then he frowned: "Hamilton, little—oh—nothing—nothing..."
He waved his hand at Loy's shocked gaze and pointed at Loyra with his finger.
"This one—I think this one is the most similar!"
"You've got two votes already!" George patted Roy on the back, making her instinctively flinch.
Why don't I feel happy at all?
Hagrid! Hagrid... please save me!
However, Roy was suddenly a little happy that Hagrid recognized him at a glance, at least it meant that his friend hadn't mistaken him for someone else. "Thank you, Hagrid." This time it was Fred who bowed slightly and thanked him.
"We also happen to have something else we'd like to ask you."
"What is it?" Hagrid handed the cup to the spider's mouthparts and drank it all in one gulp.
Where is Professor Hamilton recently?
"puff!"
Hagrid spat out the wine in his mouth. To the students' astonishment, he opened his mouth as if to say something, but could only manage a slightly embarrassed sound.
"Sorry!" He stammered for a while before apologizing, then—he glanced at Loira huddled in the corner and said, "You—you should ask her yourselves—"
He waved his hand, saying, "I—I need to talk to Professor McGonagall about something—I can't talk to you anymore."
Fred and George exchanged a glance as they watched Hagrid walk away.
"He's acting really strange today."
"He's strange every day."
"Just like us!" "That's right! Just like us!"
"And then, then we went to find—"
"Lola?"
Suddenly, a light, melodious voice rang out, causing all the Hamilton professors to look up.
"Ah." Roy trembled upon hearing the voice and looked toward its source.
It is Miss Luna Lovegood.
She was wearing a white robe and a black mask, but even so, Roy recognized who she was.
But what kind of outfit is that?
"I'm dressed up as a fire sprite."
Fire sprites definitely don't look like this, right?
Looking at the petite figure in white robes before her, Luo Yi pursed her lips and glanced at the others.
"Looks like you two know each other?" George and Fred exchanged a glance, then looked at Luna and said, "Sorry, we were thinking of bringing this student in..." "But she had something to do," Luna said softly, tilting her head. "Right?"
"Ah—yes—yes—." Loira quickly lowered her head and said, "I also want to—"
"So you're giving up the match?"
"Mmm... Mmm!" Roy nodded so quickly for the first time.
"Alright then." George and Fred exchanged a helpless glance. "But—please wait a moment!"
George beckoned to a student in the corner, "Get your camera out, Colin."
"Take a group photo of us," Fred added. "This was part of our plan."
"Plan—okay?" Loira paused, not understanding what she meant—a keepsake?
"I must look terrible in photos." Roy, who graduated early, didn't have a graduation photo and had never taken a picture before, but that didn't stop her from feeling a little worried and scared.
"Professor Hamilton hasn't shown up for a month," said the short Hamilton slowly. "We're a little worried about her."
"That's right!" Another slightly overweight Professor Hamilton nodded. "Although Professor Hamilton never speaks, she replies to our letters and answers our questions very seriously."
"It's a pity Miss Granger isn't here," one of the students muttered. "She's a huge fan of Professor Hamilton."
"And when we met Professor Hamilton at Hogsmeade, she even paid for our tickets." George and Fred exchanged a smile. "She also always fixes our headbands when they accidentally break."
"Professor Hamilton's courses are also very interesting." Another Hamilton professor nodded in agreement. "Much better than Lockhart's!"
Don't say that all of a sudden!
Their words made Roy instinctively take a few steps back. She had never considered herself a good professor—after all, she wasn't the one teaching them.
"So we wanted to give Professor Hamilton a gift," George said, lowering his voice, "as a Christmas present!"
"That's our group photo." Fred nodded slightly. "Don't tell Professor Hamilton, okay?"
"The real one!"
"I," Loira really wanted to tell the students that she already knew. "Okay, let's take a picture!" Colin had already taken out the camera and handed it to Luna.
"Could you take a picture for us?"
"I'm honored." Luna nodded lightly and picked up the camera.
"Kapomi!"
"Miss Lovegood, how did you know which one was mine?"
In a corner of the auditorium, Roy, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly asked.
"Doesn't Roy know which one is me?" Luna chuckled and shrugged. "I haven't even said who I am yet."
"I...I heard a sound," Roy said shyly in a low voice, "Your voice is like...like a wind chime..."
"Very...very unique"
"Thank you, Loira," Luna said softly. "Because we're friends."
"Um?"
"I said because we're friends," Luna said, sniffing slightly, "and I can smell you—"
"Is that so—"
Roy nodded slightly, wanting to say something more, but suddenly she heard the violin music change, from a melodious banquet tune to a dance.
The ball was about to begin, and she was still there. She instinctively wanted to walk to the professors' table, but Luna stopped her.
"I-.-"
"Shall we dance together?" Luna said, tilting her head. Even through the mask, Roy knew there was a smile behind it.
"But—" Loira whispered, "First-year students can't—" She had already learned this bad news on the way, and she had been looking forward to Miss Lovegood dancing for a long time!
That damned Dumbledore.
"It's alright." Luna shook her head slightly. "They won't know I'm Luna Lovegood."
"It's as if they wouldn't know you're Roy Hamilton."
As she spoke, she took Roy's hand: "I think—Headmaster Dumbledore probably thinks the same thing, right?"
Ah...he...he definitely didn't think that way. "I...I'm not very good at dancing—"
"It's okay," Luna said, shrugging. "I don't know how anyway."
"Is this... like this?" Roy muttered, glancing at Dumbledore, who sat alone on the high platform.
He seems a little pitiful.
Dumbledore, of course, had no idea what Miss Hamilton was thinking. He simply sat there quietly, watching the students dance in the center of the dance floor with a smile, and then offered a soft round of applause.
"Not bad, Miss Hamilton," he muttered, then looked at the house-elf standing to the side.
"Bibby, please inform Professor Hamilton," he said, a smirk playing on his lips, "that she won second place in the Professor Hamilton impersonation contest. Also, please tell her that the first place winner is Miss Izeris of Gryffindor."
