Chapter 28 Centaur, Tepo Warthog, Eight-Eyed Giant Spider
Chapter 28 Centaur, Tepo Warthog, Eight-Eyed Giant Spider
A flash of white gold streaked through the bushes, and the hurried hooves of horses pounded the ground.
Ferenze dared not turn around, fearing he would see the ferocious dragon head appear behind him and swallow him whole.
"Ferencer, what's going on? Didn't you go check on the giant spider's movements?"
A deep, melancholy voice suddenly rang out, and only then did Ferenze relax, his body involuntarily falling backward.
"You run too fast."
A pair of strong arms steadily supported him, and Ronan, with his red hair and beard, came to his side and asked with concern:
"What happened? Those spiders shouldn't have scared you like this."
"There...there's a dragon," Ferenz said in a hoarse voice, then repeated loudly, as if afraid Ronan might not have heard him: "I saw a dragon!"
"A dragon? Are you serious?"
A slightly disdainful voice came from the woods. Bain, bow and arrow in hand, strode up to Ferenze, followed by Margaret and Isabel, who were also on patrol.
"Ferenze wouldn't joke about something like this." Ronan gave Bain a reproachful look, signaling Bain to control his temper.
"I can't be mistaken!" Ferenze finally regained his strength, steadied himself against the tree trunk, and said to the crowd, "That was a green dragon. I don't know exactly what kind, but it was over ten feet long!"
"Another one of Hagrid's pets?" Bane stomped his feet in frustration, his tail thrashing wildly. "Damn it! Those damned spiders are enough to give us a headache, and now he's got a dragon? Does he think the Forbidden Forest is his home?"
"Ten feet..."
Ronan remained calm, pondering a solution.
"It might still be an immature fire dragon. Before it grows up, if we gather all the tribes, we should be able to easily take it down."
"No," Ferenze shook his head gravely. "That green dragon can not only talk, but it has also conquered the trolls to the east. Even its goblins can use a strange alchemical artifact that the trolls, with their massive physiques, cannot withstand!"
"In short, that green dragon is intelligent and not easily killed! We may have to ask Dumbledore for help."
"You're a centaur, not a donkey under a human's ass!" Bane roared, his black beard trembling slightly with rage. "The Forbidden Forest is centaur territory, it was, it is, and it will be! We don't need the disgusting pity of wizards. A bunch of trolls and dragon whelps—I'll lead the way, and we'll drive them away right now!"
"Calm down, Bane."
Ronan put his hand on Bane's shoulder. "Those ever-expanding swarms of eight-eyed giant spiders are the tribe's real threat."
"I recall that the troll's territory seems to be right on the spider's expansion route. In that case, we might as well wait and see, letting the eight-eyed giant spider and the troll wear each other down, just like the bright sparks last night..."
Although they had different ideas, Bane and Ronan were in complete agreement on refusing the intervention of wizards, leaving Ferenze with no choice but to sigh helplessly.
"Why not talk to that dragon?"
A clear female voice suddenly broke through, and the young centaur Isabel looked in the direction Ferenze had fled, her oak-colored eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Look, since Ferenze said that the green dragon can talk and rules over the troll tribe, it proves that it is intelligent. Perhaps we can take the initiative to talk to it and join forces to fight against the eight-eyed giant spider. Anyway, that place was never our territory to begin with."
After Isabel finished speaking, she did not receive the agreement she had expected. All the centaurs looked at her strangely, and Bain made no attempt to hide the contempt on his face.
"The eight-eyed giant spider is intelligent, perhaps even smarter than that dragon. Should I throw you into their lair and have a good talk with them?"
"Uh... never mind."
Isabel recalled her painful attempt and how she almost ended up wrapped up like a dumpling.
"Isabel, put away your foolish curiosity," Bain said sternly. "In this world, only centaurs can be trusted. Now, come back with me and inform the people to prepare for battle!"
……
Beside the babbling brook, a series of footprints suddenly emerged from the soft mud. A small group of Tebo warthogs cautiously observed their surroundings, and only after confirming that there was no danger did they finally dispel their cloaking.
Recently, for some unknown reason, the giant on the other side has started to expand its territory wildly, even taking over the surrounding water sources. Only the Tepo Warthog dares to use its invisibility ability to cautiously come and drink a sip of water.
However, something seems to have happened in the troll's territory.
The older warthog recalled the explosion it had heard earlier. It didn't understand what it was, only that the trolls were going to be in trouble.
The troll tribe's misfortune meant they would have some breathing room and be able to eat fresher grass.
The older Tepo warthog pondered that perhaps it was time to lead his herd away from this place.
But before that, let's quench our thirst first...
It bent down, and the spring water was exceptionally clear today. The shimmering surface of the water blurred the reflection of the sky, as if it had brought the entire blue sky into the water.
But what is this little black dot?
A piercing shriek that tore through the air came from high above, and an instinctive sense of crisis gripped its heart.
In just a moment, the well-informed warthog leader raised its head and let out an alarm howl, its dark brown body gradually turning transparent.
But it was too late!
Persona stared intently at the scattering warthogs, folding its wings to its back, its extreme descent even creating sparks in the air!
He extended his dragon claws, his movements as precise as a surgeon's, yet as light as a dragonfly skimming the water.
With a simple swoop, four Tepo warthogs were already in his paws. Although their exact appearance could not be seen, their heavy weight was undeniable.
"Unfortunately, these guys reacted too quickly."
Persson shook his head regretfully. Magical creatures were never so easy to catch. In the blink of an eye, the other Tepo warthogs had completely disappeared without a trace.
No, it's not that there are no traces at all.
Just as Poisson was about to leave, a piercing howl reached his ears.
An unlucky warthog, perhaps not knowing its way around, plunged headlong into the dense forest.
It was precisely because of this that Poisson was able to notice that the forest was covered with fine spider silk, like a large net, capturing any creature that dared to approach.
Invisibility obviously didn't help the Tepo warthog escape the web. Accompanied by an unsettling clicking sound, several giant spiders, fifteen feet long and as big as elephants, crawled out and easily locked onto the warthog's location based on the vibrations of the web.
These are the most dangerous creatures in the Forbidden Forest, level 5X eight-eyed giant spiders...
