Higashino's voice rang out clearly, eerily calm.

Having read the original work, he wasn't particularly fond of Accelerator. No matter how much the later plot tried to whitewash him, the fact that he personally killed the Misaka Sisters remained unchanged. (Note 2)

Anyone can choose to forgive him, including many readers from the previous life. But Misaka is the only one who should absolutely not, and could never, forgive.

Note 1: Surprisingly, although the younger sister is recorded as dead, she's not actually quite dead yet; she's probably somewhere between life and death. (The reason will be explained later.)

Note 2: Accelerator did not actually kill his sister, but he himself was unaware of it.

However, Accelerator remained completely still. Higashino's fist was held firmly in place by an invisible, distorted force field, less than ten centimeters from the tip of his nose.

The terrifying kinetic energy was like a mud ox entering the sea; not only did it fail to shake the opponent in the slightest, but an overwhelming and irresistible reaction force surged back along Higashino's arm!

Accelerator laughed wildly as he walked step by step toward Higashino, who was slumped against the wall.

"This is absolute power! Your pathetic tricks are as laughable as children's toys in front of me! Protection? Termination? You think you can do that?"

Higashino struggled to stand up, but the excruciating pain in his internal organs and the immense mental exhaustion made him move slowly.

The power contained in Accelerator's attack could not be completely eliminated even with the all-out resistance just now.

He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes still sharp as knives, staring intently at Accelerator without flinching.

"I haven't lost yet!"

"Hehe...hehe..."

Accelerator walked up to Higashino, looking down at him with a mocking gaze.

He felt that several of his ribs were broken and that his internal organs were bleeding profusely.

Accelerator leaned down, his pupils staring intently at Higashino's face, which was contorted with pain, and a ferocious grin spread across his lips.

"Is it painful? Is it hopeless? This is the consequence of overestimating your abilities!"

He increased the pressure on his feet, and was pleased to hear Higashino's suppressed groan of pain.

He was in a very good mood at the moment. Another arrogant piece of trash had been trampled under his feet. It was much more interesting than dealing with those puppets who didn't even know what fear was.

"Now, beg for mercy like a dog. As long as you beg me, admit you're a piece of trash, admit you can't protect anyone, I'll take pity on you and let you suffer less, sparing your life. How about that? Pretty good deal, right?"

Accelerator felt he was being far too kind, actually letting this scoundrel who provoked him off the hook, and hoped the guy wouldn't be ungrateful.

Higashino felt as if his lungs were being squeezed so tightly he couldn't breathe, and each heartbeat brought a tearing pain.

Higashino also struggled to turn his gaze, and through the billowing smoke and dust, he saw two familiar figures at the tunnel entrance.

Misaka Mikoto stood at the very front, her body crackling with violent blue-white arcs of electricity, her hands still poised to fire the Railgun.

Her face was deathly pale, her lips were tightly pressed together, and her eyes were fixed on Higashino, who was being trampled underfoot by Accelerator and whose life was unknown. Her eyes were filled with disbelief, heart-wrenching pain, and a raging fire that could burn everything!
