Chapter 4 Prologue
Chapter 4 Prologue
It was as if in the blink of an eye, I had arrived in this unfamiliar place, and then inexplicably, I could speak a language I had never heard before…
All of this left Huo Yuhao feeling extremely confused, yet he couldn't find any explanation. At the same time, a situation arose in his mind that terrified him.
While Huo Yuhao was standing there in a daze, the middle-aged man came up to him carrying a wooden box.
Then he said to the boy in front of him, "Kid, help me carry this."
Upon hearing this, Huo Yuhao looked up at the other person and subconsciously reached out to take the wooden box.
The wooden box was quite heavy, making it difficult for Huo Yuhao to carry. Looking at the unfamiliar objects inside, Huo Yuhao's suspicions grew closer.
However, Huo Yuhao didn't say anything, but simply followed the middle-aged man out of the cave.
As Huo Yuhao left the cave, he saw the scene outside: a larger cave beyond a thin wooden door.
Inside the cave, there were several people dressed in the same clothes as the middle-aged man, but the double-headed bear pattern on their clothes puzzled Huo Yuhao.
They were carrying something made of wood and iron pipes on their backs, searching for something in the cave. At the same time, several corpses dressed in different clothes lay on the ground, blood flowing from their circular wounds.
This scene made Huo Yuhao's heart tighten, because he seemed to realize what would happen if the middle-aged man's attack had hit him.
Of course, he knew in his heart that the other party did not intend to kill him, but he did not know what would happen next.
Upon hearing the approaching footsteps, the others inside the cave instinctively turned their heads to look at the boy carrying the wooden box next to the middle-aged man.
One of them didn't look like a normal human being; it looked more like a shriveled, wrinkled corpse that had lost its skin, its nose was gone, and it had no hair or eyebrows.
And this guy was saying to him in a mocking tone, "Hey, Captain, did you bring in a child laborer to do the work?"
Upon seeing this person's appearance, although Huo Yuhao was mentally prepared for any possible situation outside, he was still startled by the person speaking. After all, the other person didn't look like a normal human being at all.
However, seeing the boy's startled expression, the other party showed no disgust or anger, but instead smiled at him.
The middle-aged man who had overheard the other's teasing glanced at the guy as if he were an idiot. Instead of answering directly, he took the wooden box from Huo Yuhao's hand and said, "There aren't many supplies inside, just some junk and this much useful stuff..."
As he spoke, he placed the wooden box on the ground, and the others in the cave gathered around to look at the things inside.
Then, among the group, a girl with brown hair looked up at the captain and gestured for him to tell her about the boy next to her.
The captain paused briefly before continuing, "This brat is probably going to be sold into slavery. We'll take him back later. By the way, do you know of a place called Xingluo?"
Upon hearing his question, everyone else instinctively stopped what they were doing and shook their heads.
However, just as they stopped, the captain quickly bent down, reached into the wooden box, and grabbed a few items, stuffing them into his person.
The others exclaimed that they had been tricked, while the captain retorted that it was their own fault for not thinking straight.
While these people were continuing to divide up those things...
Standing to the side, Huo Yuhao subconsciously moved to the side. To him, what was happening before his eyes still felt strongly unreal, and he even wished it was just a dream...
At this moment, the captain turned his attention back to Huo Yuhao, looked him over, and then said to the brown-haired girl next to him, "Serene, go get a set of clothes and change this kid out of these rags."
Huo Yuhao was momentarily stunned upon hearing this, wondering where to find clothes, but he soon realized the answer.
Upon receiving the order, Thane immediately ran towards the corpses, grabbing a shirt from one side, a pair of pants from another, and even taking a pair of still-wearable shoes from one of the corpses. In this way, he pieced together a set of clothes that were not soaked in blood from the corpses.
Then she took the clothes, stood in front of him, compared them, drew her dagger, cut off the excess length, and threw them to him.
Looking at the clothes thrown at his feet, the boy couldn't help but twitch his lips, after all, this action was a bit too wild.
However, he still hid behind a rock and changed into these clothes. Although they still smelled of blood, they were better than the rag-like thing he had just worn.
After Huo Yuhao changed his clothes, the others had already taken all the supplies they could from the cave.
Upon seeing him come out, one of the blond youths asked him to help carry a box, and then told him to hurry up and follow him away.
Just as he was about to catch up with them and leave with the box, he subconsciously turned his head to look at the corpse in the cave and asked, "Are we just going to leave it here like this?"
Hearing this, they looked at him as if he were an idiot. The blond youth said to him in a very ordinary tone, "Don't bother with that. In this kind of cave, it won't be long before owls or fire ants come and eat these corpses until only bones remain..."
Hearing this answer, I didn't know what to say for a moment, and just silently followed in their footsteps.
Leaving the cave didn't take long; it was just a matter of walking up a small hill before arriving at the cave entrance.
When I actually stepped out of there, I was greeted by dry air, and then the sunlight outside was so bright that I could hardly open my eyes.
Just as I gradually got used to the sunlight outside and saw the scenery in front of me.
Almost instantly, a sense of powerlessness spread throughout my body, leaving me feeling somewhat lost and helpless.
When the others saw him like this, they couldn't help but laugh. They all thought he had been locked up for too long and was so weak that he didn't have the strength to climb the earthen slope just by carrying a box.
Only he knew the true situation: the sun was scorching the earth from the sky, and what lay before him was not vegetation like that of the Starry Sky Forest, nor was it an environment he was familiar with.
Before me lay a desolate desert, with barren mountains in the distance and a road beneath my feet that I had never seen before.
This was a scene Huo Yuhao had never imagined; everything here was that earthy yellow color.
At that moment, only one question remained in Huo Yuhao's mind: Where did they bring me here...?
