Chapter 70 Moving
Hu Yi and Li Baoqing immediately remembered that the man in front of them was the young man who claimed to be the Prince of Morocco in Building 6. He had shaved off his stubble and looked much younger, so they didn't recognize him at first glance.
The prince smiled and opened his arms: "It's me. Are we going to be neighbors again?"
"I live here, and they're here to help with the cleaning." Hu Yi walked to the door, stepping over the trash. "Do you live in room B?"
"That's right." The prince pointed to the person who had just come out of the bathroom: "We share a room." The person was of medium build, with a complexion similar to milk chocolate, and two round, bright eyes that gleamed with a shrewdness. He looked rather mischievous.
"Good heavens, those Vietnamese—they're a menace." He wiped his face, glanced at the feet and behind the four people in the room, and looked up to ask, "Who lives here?"
"Me." Hu Yi squeezed in front of him: "Hello, my name is Anton, I'm Chinese, and I'm a first-year student in the Languages Department."
"Hello, my name is Du Shan, a third-year medical student from Mauritius." Du Shan glanced at Hu Yi's hand, seemingly unintentionally, with a slight awkwardness on his face. He seemed to want to shake hands with him, but was clearly very concerned about whether Hu Yi had touched the trash on the ground earlier.
"What happened just now was an accident, I'm very sorry." Hu Yi knew that medical students were very hygienic, so he smiled and raised his hands: "Our hands aren't very clean, so let's not shake hands today."
"No problem, no problem." Du Shan breathed a sigh of relief, turned around, opened the door, and went into the small house next door. The prince followed behind him, turning back to ask, "Do you need help cleaning?"
"No need, a few of us are enough." Li Baoqing grinned. "This place is too dirty; we can't let the prince do it."
The four of them worked non-stop from noon until after six in the afternoon, cleaning up all the trash in the house. Fortunately, there was a dirty carpet underneath the trash, which protected the floor of the room.
They rolled up the tattered carpet and threw it into the garbage chute, then swept the floor several times and wiped the tables, chairs, and beds clean. The room looked clean, but even after Xia Yan sprayed almost half a bottle of air freshener, the nauseating stench of decay and mold still lingered.
Hu Yi opened the window and stepped out of the room, waving to the three of them, "No, this room isn't safe to live in yet. Let it air out for a couple of days. Thanks for your hard work today, come on, let's go eat!"
The Arab restaurant downstairs in Building 6 was already packed. The four of them strolled over to the restaurant downstairs in Building 11. Remembering that they hadn't seen Yu Feifei for a while, they decided to ask her to come along.
Yu Feifei occasionally takes on tour guide jobs during the summer vacation, and she bought a cell phone for easier communication. When Hu Yi called, she had just finished eating, but she still happily agreed to chat with everyone for a while.
The restaurant downstairs in Building 11 is not large. It mainly serves Arabic food and also offers some Indian dishes. However, it doesn't seem to be very popular, and its location is a bit out of the way. Therefore, it is not as popular as the restaurant in Building 6 and appears quite deserted.
Zhou Dali looked around at the empty tables and chairs, frowned, and said, "Is this shop any good? It looks like it's about to go out of business."
"
Li Baoqing laughed and said, "Going bankrupt? If it goes bankrupt, just take over the shop and open a Chinese restaurant! Anyway, your old man gave you so much money, there's no point in keeping it."
"That's right!" Hu Yi looked at Zhou Dali seriously, "I'll chop the vegetables, and Baoqing will be the chef, giving everyone a live demonstration of how to flip tomatoes and eggs in a wok!"
The three of them burst into laughter. Xia Yan chuckled blankly a few times, then asked curiously, "By the way, isn't there a Chinese restaurant nearby? Why don't we go there?"
"Sixth Brother's shop?" Zhou Dali shook his head: "We ate there once, the taste was just so-so."
Li Baoqing chimed in, "The price is too high. A plate of hot and sour shredded potatoes costs 160 rubles, which is equivalent to five Turkish kebabs."
Just as Hu Yi was about to summarize, he saw Yu Feifei walk into the restaurant while answering a phone call, her expression very troubled: "—It's okay, I'll try to arrange a time. Okay, I'll get back to you as soon as possible."
Hu Yi got up and moved over to make room for Yu Feifei: "What's wrong? What's the matter?"
"I can't schedule a job anymore." After greeting everyone, Yu Feifei sat down and spaced out for a moment before turning to Hu Yi and asking, "Hey, by the way, are you free next Saturday?"
Hu Yi casually chuckled, "I'm free. What's up? Want to go on a date with me?" As soon as the words left his mouth, he immediately felt that he had been a little presumptuous. He subconsciously glanced at Li Baoqing and saw that he was looking down and playing with a napkin, looking slightly uncomfortable.
Last Christmas Eve, Li Baoqing confessed his feelings to Yu Feifei but was rejected. Soon after, a theft occurred. Yu Feifei returned to China for winter break, and after the start of the new semester, they went to work at the Huanghai Hotel. They didn't return until midnight every day, so they saw each other very rarely.
After finishing his exams, Li Baoqing moved out of the dormitory. It had been a long time since he had seen Yu Feifei. Hu Yi felt that his impulsiveness from back then had passed, but now that he had blurted out such a sentence out of the blue, it still made him feel a little embarrassed.
Yu Feifei didn't seem to care much, and gently covered her mouth with a smile: "A date? No rush, we can talk about it later."
"Hey, I was just kidding." Hu Yi chuckled twice. "So, what's up?"
"I'm taking on a tour group next week, from Thursday to Saturday, a three-day trip within Moscow. But on Saturday, I've been assigned to translate for an exhibition group. Could you help me lead that tour group for just one day?"
"Sure!" Hu Yi blurted out, then hesitated, "But I have absolutely no experience with this, is that alright?"
"No problem, the itinerary is all arranged. There will be a professional tour guide from China accompanying them. You just need to accompany them, help them buy tickets, translate, and give some explanations of the attractions. I have printed out the explanations." Yu Feifei smiled and said, "There will be a shopping session that day, and some people may go to the casino in the evening. All the commissions and service fees will be yours."
"That's great!" Hu Yi was happy but also a little embarrassed. He turned to Li Baoqing and said, "Hey, there's money to be made! Are you short on cash? Why don't you go?"
"No, I'm not going. My Russian isn't as good as yours, and I might embarrass myself again." Li Baoqing shook his head and said, "Besides, I'm staying at Dali's place, so I'm definitely better off than you. You should go."
"Alright then." Hu Yi nodded, picked up the menu, and slammed it on the table. "It's on me today, you guys order!"
Two days later, the new semester began. The stench in Building 10 had mostly dissipated, and Hu Yi moved all his luggage in, enjoying the life of living in a single room by himself.
Most of the students in the preparatory class successfully advanced to the first year and continued to attend classes in the same class. At the beginning of the new semester, there weren't many courses offered, and the learning atmosphere was actually more relaxed than in the preparatory class, which made Hu Yi even more confident.
Thinking about how he had endured two years of hardship in Moscow and was now finally a proper university student, and how he had moved from the inconvenient Building 6 to live alone in Building 10, Hu Yi was filled with mixed emotions. Two years ago, he was single-mindedly focused on selling computer parts with Dongzi, and he never dared to believe that he would have the opportunity to go to university in his lifetime.
