Chapter 89 Perfume
Chapter 89 Perfume
People who live a simple life are always easy to find. Idelia found the person she was looking for in a corner of the library with almost no effort.
This time, having come prepared, she didn't intend to be polite and went straight to sit down in the empty seat next to Elhesen.
As she expected, Al-Hysen didn't even raise his head, completely unconcerned about who was beside him. She couldn't help but feel sorry for those guys who had been intimidated by his aura and only dared to watch from afar at the next table.
I'm sorry, but only those who take initiative have a future.
Idelia was overjoyed inside, but she didn't forget to maintain her composure as a senior student, and calmly opened the book she had brought.
She had dressed up specially before coming, and Idelia was sure that the distance was enough for Elhesen to smell her rich but not cloying fragrance.
This is the most popular perfume in Sumeru City. She queued outside the store for a full three hours to buy it, and she doesn't usually use it unless it's for a big occasion.
Elhesen would absolutely not be able to resist this temptation. Just one glance at her would be enough to make him fall at her feet, just like everyone else!
Idelia was lost in her beautiful fantasy; if she had a tail, it would probably be wagging its tail in the air by now.
After a long pause, she quickly raised her hand to barely cover the corners of her mouth that had unconsciously turned up.
After patiently waiting for quite a while, there was still no movement from the side.
Idelia refused to believe that anyone could dislike this perfume, and stroked her chin, wondering if Al-Hysen had just fallen ill this weekend and couldn't smell anything because of a stuffy nose?
She couldn't help but steal glances at the scene over there.
This glance immediately made her furious. It wasn't that Elhesen couldn't smell it; he could smell it very clearly and even seemed disgusted by it.
The boy frowned slightly, and at some point turned to face the wide-open window, trying to dilute the complex fragrance in the air around him.
Idelia really wanted to grab his shoulders and shake him, and give him a good talking-to about why his aesthetic sense had to be so different from everyone else's!
But no, she's there to seduce people, not to discourage them.
So Idelia reluctantly closed the book and slunk off to the toilet.
Unbeknownst to her, her act of sitting next to Elhesen without being kicked out set a precedent for the other restless individuals in the library. Not long after she left, someone had already tentatively sat in the empty seat on the other side of Elhesen.
Unaware of the situation, Idelia was rinsing the remaining perfume off her wrists and neck with water.
She sniffed it and felt that there was still a scent, so she wandered around outside a few more times until she was sure that the remaining perfume scent had mostly dissipated before returning to the library.
At this moment, the once empty desk was now full of people, and only her original seat was saved because she hadn't taken the book with her when she left.
But people would still glance at her spot from time to time, as if lamenting why such a close spot to Elhesen wasn't theirs.
Idelia felt suffocated.
Now it's not just Alheisen who wants to get some fresh air through the window; she wants it too.
But this minor incident was not enough to discourage her. She returned to her seat and tried to find a more appropriate way to get closer to Elhesen, hoping to persuade her rivals to back down on their own.
Idelia tried hard to find a breakthrough.
As the saying goes, perseverance pays off. While she was squinting and peeking at the book that Al-Hysen was reading, she finally recognized it by a familiar chart.
"A detailed account of Sumeru's three hundred years? You're reading a book by the Yin-Yang school?" She was somewhat surprised, because she clearly remembered that the booklet said that Elhesen was a member of the Mysterious Theory school.
She couldn't help but move her stool closer.
Al-Hysen subtly stepped back, demonstrating his rejection of her presumptuous behavior.
Idelia immediately retreated to her original position, trying to salvage her precarious image.
Al-Hysen replied calmly, "Answering a question that lacks substance is to condone the questioner. When the answer is obvious, I'm more curious about how you manage to ask the question so frankly."
This was the first time Idelia had been subtly criticized for lacking manners, and she retorted defiantly, "It's just an instinctive reaction to shock. Haven't you ever done that before?"
"This is you, don't project your behavior onto me." Al-Hysen calmly closed the book, got up and left.
Idelia persisted, following him relentlessly: "I don't think it's time for class yet, is it? Are you planning to go home so early today?"
"I just want to find a quiet place again."
Elhesen hadn't originally intended to answer these random questions, but Idelia seemed determined to get him to talk, so to avoid potentially worse trouble later, he decided to reply: "But it seems unnecessary now."
He glanced at Idelia, whose mouth was opening and closing and making a commotion, and the implication in his words was self-evident.
Idelia shut up in embarrassment.
When she's not speaking, the corners of her lips droop naturally, even appearing somewhat aloof, which contrasts sharply with her vibrant red hair and warm yellow eyes.
Al-Hysen thought that, putting aside the noise, the other rumors about this jewel of the Yin-theory were quite accurate.
People tend to be more tolerant of beautiful things, and Al Heisenberg was no exception. Although he always considered himself to be rational, he was not so sure that he would exclude himself from the realm of humanity.
However, he was only distracted for a moment, and quickly turned his attention back to the book in his hands.
"A Detailed Account of the Three Hundred Years of Mount Sumeru" is a classic text of the Yin-Yang school, and almost every Yin-Yang scholar owns a copy.
Even Al Heysen's deceased mother, whom he barely remembers now, left a copy at home, but considering his age at the time, it was a specially purchased abridged version.
Al-Hysen loved books and had browsed through all the books on the bookshelf since he was very young, so he naturally didn't miss this one. He knew that the contents were mostly about the major events that happened in the history of Sumeru and some scholars' comments.
He wasn't particularly interested in these kinds of things, but when he accidentally discovered that the book "A Detailed Account of Three Hundred Years of Sumeru" in the Sumeru Library was more than ten times thicker than the one at home, he still curiously started flipping through it.
The contents were far more complex than he had imagined, and the omitted, more detailed interpretations of the connections between historical and social phenomena piqued his interest.
Just as he was engrossed in studying some of the interesting theories, a slender white hand landed on the line of text he was reading.
"There's something wrong here." A girl named Idelia approached from somewhere.
Before Elhesen could reply, Idelia, as if worried he wouldn't believe her, quickly explained, "Perhaps you've heard of the scholar from a hundred years ago who suddenly appeared a few years ago—the senior, Farusan?"
El-Hysen nodded.
"About two years ago, I collaborated with the senior Farusan and the Shahavara Academy of the Myo-rok school to explore the Red King's relics that had trapped the senior for a hundred years. We just got results six months ago. One of our research directions at the Vahumana Academy is the theory of the Red King's remnants, and our mentor immediately set up a project team to go there."
This refers to the project that Idelia just finished participating in.
"...In short, due to the discovery of new evidence, we have found some inaccuracies in this sage's theory. It's best if you don't read this for now; wait until the revised edition is published."
She explained it to him in detail, but worried that Al-Hysen might not understand the overly technical language, so she simply summarized it for him in plain language.
Al-Hysen seemed to be deep in thought.
Idelia waited for ages but he didn't respond, so she waved her hand in front of his face: "Hey, did you hear me?"
"I heard you." Al-Hysen closed the book with a calm expression.
Although he enjoys studying knowledge in books, he doesn't like to take detours because of other people's mistakes. Idelia really helped him this time.
He thought about it and decided to offer some help to the other party as well.
"Today's perfume doesn't suit you. You're better suited to a light floral-fruity scent than something too sweet. See you next time, Senior Idelia."
