Chapter 390 If it's arranged, you have to go.
"These deer have just arrived in their new environment and need a few days to adjust," Li Xiangyang explained to the village officials. "Don't let too many people get close for the first few days, so as not to startle them. Once they've settled in, I'll teach everyone how to take care of them."
Zheng Dehou nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes, do as Li Xiangyang says. Our deer farm is what it is today entirely thanks to his abilities!"
After settling the live deer, the next step was to deal with the dead one.
Each member of the hunting team received a portion, while the remainder went to the production team.
"The hide of this dead deer needs to be completely removed," Li Xiangyang instructed as he worked. "The hide is very valuable, and as for the meat, although it was bitten by wolves, it's still edible if it's cleaned and cooked."
The villagers watched with great interest, and many of them learned from the scene.
The hunting party members had already begun distributing the meat, and everyone's face was filled with the joy of a bountiful harvest.
Li Xiangyang carefully wrapped up his share and carried it on his back.
He had been running around in the mountains for several days, fighting and battling wolves, and he was really exhausted.
"I'm going back now," he said to Wang Ergou and the others. "I'll come back to check on the deer tomorrow."
“Go on, go on,” Wang Ergou waved his hand, “Your Xiaoyun is waiting for you! I’ll keep an eye on things here.”
Li Xiangyang smiled and nodded, then turned and walked home.
Xuanmao and Xiaohu followed closely behind him. Although Xiaohu had been injured in the fight with the wolf, he was still in good spirits.
Before they even stepped inside, Li Xiaoyun's voice rang out: "You're back? I heard from the villagers that you're back, and you brought lots of deer with you!"
She stood at the door, one hand supporting her slightly protruding belly, her face full of anticipation.
Seeing Li Xiangyang return safely, her smile became even brighter.
"I missed you so much!" Li Xiangyang stepped forward and hugged his wife tightly. The familiar scent of her body seemed to dispel much of his fatigue from the journey.
Li Xiaoyun patted his face: "Look at you, you've gotten so unkempt in just a few days. Come in, I've boiled some water for you, take a bath and change your clothes."
Li Xiangyang lifted the package in his hand: "I brought you venison; we'll stew it later."
"Great!" Li Xiaoyun's eyes lit up. "It's getting cold, let's stew some venison to nourish ourselves."
Once inside, Li Xiangyang found the house to be warm and cozy.
The heating system installed last year is working well, making the house warm and cozy.
"By the way, did anyone look for me while I was away?" Li Xiangyang asked as he took off his coat.
"Yes, there really is. While you were away, Director Zhao from the Forestry Bureau sent someone to look for you twice."
"Looking for me?" Li Xiangyang asked as he ladled hot water into the bucket. "What's up?"
"He didn't say anything specific, just that he wanted to discuss something with you," Li Xiaoyun replied while preparing the cutting board. "He seemed quite anxious."
Li Xiangyang nodded, a few thoughts flashing through his mind, but he didn't dwell on them and first took a refreshing hot shower.
As hot water poured over his body, Li Xiangyang sighed comfortably, closed his eyes, and enjoyed a rare moment of relaxation.
After taking a shower and changing into clean clothes, Li Xiangyang felt completely refreshed.
He walked to the stove and saw Li Xiaoyun busy preparing dinner.
“Here, I’ll do it.” He took the kitchen knife from his wife. “You go and rest.”
Li Xiaoyun shook her head: "It's nothing, I'm not tired. But you, you must have suffered a lot these past few days on the mountain, right?"
“This is nothing,” Li Xiangyang laughed. “Leave it to me; my skills are really good now.”
As he spoke, Li Xiangyang got busy, and soon a pot of fragrant venison stew with potatoes was served.
Li Xiangyang placed a large piece of venison into Li Xiaoyun's bowl: "Eat more, it's good for you and the baby."
"You should eat more too," Li Xiaoyun said, looking at him with concern. "You've lost a lot of weight these past few days, exposed to the wind and sun on the mountain."
After finishing their meal, Li Xiaoyun, while clearing the dishes, casually asked, "The Forestry Bureau is looking for you; will they ask you to go on another long trip?"
Li Xiangyang rubbed his hands together, looking at his wife's slightly protruding belly, and said softly, "It's hard to say, after all, we're getting paid. If it's arranged, we have to go. But don't worry, if it's a long trip, I'll have Mom take care of you."
Li Xiaoyun smiled slightly: "Silly boy, I'm not made of paper. It's just a pregnancy, don't bother your mother. If you're going on a long trip, just remember to have someone send me a message."
That night, the two slept in each other's arms, but Li Xiangyang couldn't fall asleep. He wondered what the Forestry Bureau wanted to see him about.
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, there was a series of urgent knocks on the door.
"Xiangyang, Brother Xiangyang, are you up yet?" Wang Ergou's voice came from outside the door.
Li Xiangyang rubbed his eyes, put on his clothes, got out of bed, and opened the door.
"What's all the noise so early in the morning?" Li Xiangyang opened the door and saw Wang Ergou outside, his face still showing signs of sleepiness.
Wang Ergou exhaled a breath, rubbed his hands, which were red from the cold, and shook off a few snowflakes from his clothes: "The forestry bureau contacted me. My wife said they seemed quite anxious. I was thinking that we're just people who get paid..."
Li Xiangyang nodded: "I know, Xiaoyun told me yesterday. It seems like something urgent has happened."
"Shall we set off now?" Wang Ergou asked.
"Let me tidy up and have breakfast before I leave." Li Xiangyang turned his head and looked into the house. Li Xiaoyun had already gotten up and was busy cooking in front of the stove.
Smelling the delicious aroma, Wang Ergou swallowed hard: "Shall I have some breakfast too?"
Li Xiangyang rolled his eyes at him, annoyed: "From the day you got married, I knew Ma Hongxia was going to suffer. How lazy can you be to get up so early and not even cook a meal?"
Wang Ergou chuckled, didn't reply, patted the snow off his chest, and followed Li Xiangyang into the house.
Those who are family know their own situation. Unless the conditions in the wild are harsh, Wang Ergou can manage to cook things, but as for cooking, he really doesn't have that talent.
He made the same thing, saying even a dog wouldn't eat it, but it really was awful.
"Ergou's here! Perfect timing, let's eat together." Li Xiaoyun greeted him with a smile, carrying a large bowl of steaming pork porridge.
After having breakfast at Li Xiangyang's house, the two said goodbye to Li Xiaoyun and headed to the Forestry Bureau.
On their way into the city, the two rode their bicycles, braving the biting cold wind.
In the dead of winter, the road was quite icy, and the wheels made a crunching sound as they rolled over it.
"What do you think the Forestry Bureau wants from us?" Wang Ergou asked as he rode his bicycle.
Li Xiangyang shook his head: "I don't know, it shouldn't be related to Cishan. They already have a professional team there."
"I think so too, but no matter what, if we're paid to go, we have to go."
