Chapter 328 Truly a Blessed Life
Chapter 328 Truly a Blessed Life
Just as they were about to set the table, there was a knock on the door.
"It must be Godfather!" Li Xiaohua cheered and ran to open the door.
Sure enough, it was Wang Jingyun outside the door, carrying a paper bag in his hand.
"Uncle Wang, you've arrived." Li Xiangyang stepped forward to greet him.
Wang Jingyun nodded and handed the paper bag to Li Xiangyang: "It's just a small token of my appreciation. Congratulations on becoming a father."
Li Xiangyang took the bag and found that it contained several cans of high-end nutritional supplements and some snacks.
"Uncle Wang, you're too kind," Li Xiangyang said, touched.
"Of course." Wang Jingyun smiled, walked into the house, and saw Li's mother busy at work. She quickly greeted her, "Sister Lin, you've worked hard."
"Jingyun's here! Please have a seat," Mother Li greeted warmly. "The food will be ready soon. Have some tea first."
Dinner was plentiful and warm, with the family sitting around the table in a harmonious atmosphere.
"Xiaoyun is pregnant. When are you planning to go back to visit her?" Wang Jingyun asked while picking up some food.
“I’ll go back tomorrow,” Li’s mother answered quickly. “I’ve taken three days off to visit the child and bring him some tonics.”
Wang Jingyun nodded: "I'll go see her when I have time. Xiaoyun is a good girl; she's strong-willed and has her own opinions."
“Yes, my sister-in-law is amazing,” Li Xiaohua interjected proudly. “Whenever I have a question I don’t understand, I ask her, and she knows the answer.”
Everyone laughed, and the atmosphere became even more lively.
After the meal, Wang Jingyun said to Li Xiangyang, "By the way, Xiangyang, about that training thing, if you don't have time, just forget about it. Xiaoyun is pregnant, you should spend more time with her."
Li Xiangyang was both amused and exasperated. These elders were all more nervous than he was, even more worried than he, the soon-to-be father.
"Uncle Wang, don't worry, I'll definitely go. If I don't go because Xiaoyun is pregnant, she'll definitely yell at me when I get home," Li Xiangyang said with a smile. "She doesn't like me around; she always thinks I'm making a fuss over nothing."
Upon hearing this, Wang Jingyun and Li's mother both laughed.
"You're good; you know how to respect women." Wang Jingyun nodded. "Mutual understanding is important, but you must be careful, as a pregnant woman's temper may become more unstable."
Li Xiangyang nodded earnestly: "I understand, Uncle Wang."
As night deepened, Wang Jingyun rose to take his leave: "Then I'll take the two girls back with me. Xiaohua, stay at my house for the next few days until your mother returns."
Li Xiaohua looked at her mother, and after receiving a nod, she happily followed Wang Ying to stand next to Wang Jingyun.
"Thank you for your help, Jingyun," Li's mother said gratefully.
"Don't mention it, Xiaohua is such a sensible child, she's no trouble at all." Wang Jingyun waved his hand with a smile.
After seeing Wang Jingyun and the two little girls off, Li Xiangyang and his mother cleaned up the dishes and prepared to set off for the village early the next morning.
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Li Xiangyang got up and packed his luggage.
Li's mother also got up early and carefully packed the tonics she bought last night and the gifts for her daughter-in-law.
Li Xiangyang smiled as he watched his mother's busy figure, his heart filled with emotion.
In his previous life, he failed to protect his mother, which led to her death from illness.
Now reborn, he not only wants to ensure his mother's comfortable life, but also to let her enjoy the joys of family life and be surrounded by her grandchildren.
"Mom, let's go, or we'll miss the train," Li Xiangyang said softly, picking up his luggage.
Li's mother nodded, checked the doors and windows one last time, and then followed Li Xiangyang out the door.
Sitting on the bumpy bus, watching the scenery rushing past the window, Li Xiangyang's heart had already flown home.
When the bus finally arrived at Xiaoliang Village, it was already afternoon.
Li Xiangyang carried his luggage and helped his mother walk slowly towards their home.
"Xiangyang's mother is back?" A villager greeted them with delight upon seeing them.
"Yes, Xiaoyun is pregnant and came back especially to visit," Li's mother replied with a smile.
Along the way, many villagers came to greet us with sincere smiles on their faces.
When Li Xiangyang and his mother arrived at their doorstep, Li Xiaoyun was hanging laundry in the yard. Seeing them, she was initially startled, then delighted, put down the clothes and hurried over to greet them.
"Mother, what brings you here?" Li Xiaoyun hurriedly took the bundle from her mother's hands, saying somewhat flusteredly, "You've come all this way, it must have been so tiring."
Mother Li looked her daughter-in-law up and down. Seeing that her complexion was rosy and her spirits were high, she breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "I heard you were pregnant, how could I be at ease? I had to see you with my own eyes to put my mind at ease."
A blush crept onto Li Xiaoyun's face as she gave Li Xiangyang a reproachful look: "Why did you tell Mother? I'm only a little over a month old, how could you tell her so early?"
Li Xiangyang shrugged, looking completely innocent: "This is a good thing, why can't I tell Mom? Besides, if I wait until your belly gets really big before telling her, I'll be scolded to death!"
Mother Li took her daughter-in-law's hand and looked her over carefully: "Look at you, my child, being pregnant is a happy thing, what's there to be embarrassed about? Come on, let's go inside, I brought a lot of good things for you to nourish your body."
Once inside, Li's mother eagerly opened the package she had brought and introduced each item to Li Xiaoyun: "This is honey, to be taken with warm water every morning; this is calcium tablets, for calcium supplementation, Xiangyang bought them specially; this is..."
Li Xiaoyun was overwhelmed by her mother's enthusiasm, but she was too embarrassed to refuse, so she had no choice but to agree to everything.
Li Xiangyang watched from the side, a smile unconsciously spreading across his face, his heart filled with warmth and happiness.
"Mom, don't bother, take a break," Li Xiaoyun said considerately. "I'll cook, we'll have a good meal today."
"Oh dear, how can I let you do this? You're going to be a mother soon, you need to take good care of yourself," Mother Li quickly stopped her. "I'll do it, you sit and rest."
Li Xiaoyun was both amused and exasperated: "Mom, I'm only a little over a month old, it's not like I'm in postpartum confinement. Moving around a bit is good for my health."
Watching the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law "argue" over who should cook, Li Xiangyang couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Alright, alright, I'll cook today, you two can rest."
Li's mother rolled her eyes at her son: "What can you do? Let me do it."
"Mom, don't underestimate me. I've been cooking a lot lately, and Xiaoyun even praised my improved skills," Li Xiangyang said with a smile. "Just sit back and watch what I'm capable of."
Ultimately, under Li Xiangyang's insistence, Li's mother and Li Xiaoyun had no choice but to agree.
In the kitchen, Li Xiangyang skillfully chopped and cooked vegetables.
"Xiaoyun, have you been feeling unwell lately?" Li's mother asked with concern in the courtyard.
Li Xiaoyun shook her head: "No, I'm just a little sleepy sometimes and want to go to sleep."
“That’s normal,” Li’s mother nodded. “I was the same when I was pregnant with Xiangyang; I was drowsy all the time. But you need to be careful to rest now and not overwork yourself. Let Xiangyang do the heavy work, and if he can’t, your older sister can help.”
Li Xiaoyun smiled and replied, "I know, Mother. Xiangyang is so attentive now, he'll rush to do all the chores, afraid I'll get tired."
Speaking of her son, Li's mother's face was full of pride: "That child, he's been sensible since he was little, it's just that before..." She paused, then continued, "But now it's all good. With you by his side, he's changed a lot, he's matured and become more stable."
Li Xiaoyun sensed the hesitation in her mother-in-law's words and knew she was referring to the foolish things Li Xiangyang had done for Su Yan.
But that's all in the past; Li Xiangyang is completely different now.
"Mother, don't worry, Xiangyang is fine now, we'll be alright," Li Xiaoyun comforted softly.
Looking into her daughter-in-law's gentle eyes, Li's mother felt both gratified and grateful.
This daughter-in-law is not only hardworking and capable, but more importantly, she is sensible, filial, and kind-hearted. My son is truly blessed to have married such a wonderful girl.
