Chapter 147 Mother Tiger Protects Her Cubs
Chapter 147 Mother Tiger Protects Her Cubs
The snow crunched underfoot, and the bushes swayed constantly.
Under the moonlight, a huge dark shadow gradually appeared.
This is a black bear that has just woken up from hibernation.
It was clearly starving and followed the scent of blood all the way here.
The appearance of Hei Xiazi made the situation even more delicate.
Although it moves slowly, it is enormous and incredibly strong.
Even the Amur leopard had to retreat and change its position.
"This is going to be interesting," Li Xiangyang said in a low voice.
Black Bear walked straight toward the dog's corpse.
The wolf pack immediately dispersed, but did not completely retreat.
The Amur Leopard circled around to a favorable position, ready to strike at any moment.
Even the weasels stopped squeaking.
Black Bear slowly paced around the elk's corpse, his nose twitching incessantly.
The enormous creature, which had just awakened from hibernation, seemed to be aware of the tense situation and did not rush to eat.
The wolf pack paced back and forth in different locations, occasionally letting out low howls.
“This wolf king is very experienced,” Li Xiangyang said softly. “Look, it deliberately scattered the wolf pack to distract the other predators.”
Wang Ergou observed carefully: "It really is! Look, the bear's head is turning this way and that; it doesn't know which side to guard against."
A cold wind swept through the valley, swirling up snowflakes.
Suddenly, the Amur leopard's ears twitched.
It alertly raised its head, its gaze fixed on the valley above.
The other wild beasts also sensed something and tensed up.
A deep tiger roar came from afar.
The power contained in that roar silenced the entire valley.
Surprisingly, the whistling sound had no effect whatsoever; instead, it stimulated the bear to immediately begin eating.
"That's interesting," Li Xiangyang said. "The tiger's here; I wonder if these wolves will fight Black Bear?"
The wolf pack tightened their encirclement, making it more compact, and chose to give way.
Upon seeing this, the Amur leopard darted over like lightning and began to eat.
Although its appearance provoked a roar from the black bear, the black bear also chose to remain silent.
The moonlight shone on the snow, casting a huge shadow.
It was a Siberian tiger over three meters long, slowly walking down the hillside.
The Siberian tiger's massive body looked particularly terrifying under the moonlight.
Its eerie green eyes swept across the valley, and wherever its gaze fell, all the wild beasts involuntarily lowered their stance.
Li Xiangyang and Wang Ergou held their breath, gripping their guns tightly.
Although they had a campfire as a shield, they all knew how fragile the sense of security provided by the firelight was in the face of the overlord of this mountain forest.
"Don't move," Li Xiangyang whispered a reminder. "It won't notice us for now."
Wang Ergou nodded, cold sweat already beading on his forehead.
This was the first time he had seen a Siberian tiger so closely.
The Siberian tiger stopped about ten meters away from the elk carcass, its eyes scanning among the various wild animals.
The wolves, the bears, and the Amur leopard all took a few steps back in unison, giving the dominant predator some space.
But unexpectedly, the black bear suddenly roared and showed no sign of backing down.
"This black bear is probably in for some trouble," Wang Ergou said softly.
Li Xiangyang frowned: "Something's not right. There's something wrong with this tiger's gait."
Before he finished speaking, Hei Xiazi had already stood up straight and assumed an attack stance.
The Siberian tiger let out a low growl, but did not immediately launch an attack.
"It's injured!" Li Xiangyang's eyes lit up. "Look at its right hind leg; it's constantly trying to avoid impact while walking."
Sure enough, upon close observation under the moonlight, a noticeable wound could be seen on the Siberian tiger's right hind leg, causing it to walk with a slight limp.
This injury, ironically, puts it at a disadvantage.
The black bear must have realized this, which is why it took the initiative to charge at the Siberian tiger.
A thrilling battle ensued.
Despite being injured, the Siberian tiger's fighting instincts remain formidable.
It nimbly dodged the black bear's pounce, while retaliating with its sharp claws.
However, the black bear's fur is extremely thick, making it difficult for the Siberian tiger's claws to inflict fatal damage.
Instead, it was Hei Xiazi's brute force that knocked the Siberian tiger to the ground.
"Oh no!" Wang Ergou whispered.
This scene caused the entire situation to spiral out of control instantly.
The wolf pack seized the opportunity and moved in a fan shape to encircle the Siberian tiger.
The Amur leopard was not to be outdone and waited for its chance to strike.
A chaotic battle unfolded on the snow, with roars and howls rising and falling.
Snowflakes were swirled and flew about, turning the moonlit valley into a scene of carnage.
Just then, Li Xiangyang noticed a detail.
“Something’s not right.” His gaze was fixed on the battle formation. “This tiger’s behavior is too abnormal.”
"What's wrong?" Wang Ergou asked in a low voice.
Li Xiangyang's eyes were sharp: "Watch that tiger's movements closely. It keeps moving in one direction, and every time it's attacked, it retreats in that direction."
He pointed to a rock face on the east side of the valley.
Wang Ergou suddenly realized: "It's looking for a way out?"
“No,” Li Xiangyang shook his head, “Its nest is over there.”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a young tiger's roar came from the direction of the rock wall.
Although the sound was soft, it startled the Siberian tigers in the battle, causing them to unleash unprecedented ferocity.
It suddenly sprang up and swatted a wolf away with a single paw.
Immediately afterward, disregarding its injuries, it pounced repeatedly, tearing the throats of both wolves.
This sudden and fierce attack startled the besieging beasts.
"It's a tiger cub!" Wang Ergou finally understood. "It's protecting its young."
Li Xiangyang frowned deeply: "The situation is even more dangerous now."
Sure enough, the Siberian tiger became extremely ferocious upon sensing the threat posed by its cubs.
Even wounded, it still tumbled across the snow like the wind, forcing even the black bear to retreat several steps.
But the wolf pack did not retreat.
The loss of several companions only fueled their ferocity.
The wolf king howled incessantly, directing the pack to split into two groups: one to contain the Siberian tiger, and the other to attempt to approach the rock face.
The situation on the battlefield is becoming increasingly tense.
Although the Siberian tiger was injured, its instinct to protect its cubs allowed it to unleash astonishing fighting power.
Each of its pounces could tear a wolf's body apart, and as its claws flew, blood stained the white snow.
The black bear is also constantly looking for an opportunity to deliver a fatal blow to the Siberian tiger.
But the Siberian tiger always used its body to block the rock wall, not giving any wild animals a chance to approach.
“That’s a live tiger cub! What do you think, should we…” Wang Ergou gripped his gun, eager to try.
"No way," Li Xiangyang immediately interrupted him. "Open fire and things will fall apart. This valley isn't that big. Once we run out of bullets, these guys will go berserk, and we'll be sitting ducks."
