Chapter 1211 - 1250: Did I Really Hurt You That Much?
She is his destiny, they are destined to rely on each other, how could they not be suitable?
Mabel Quinn lowered her eyes. Some things happen by chance the first time, become inevitable the second time, but what about the third time? They have already been unsuitable twice. If she had truly separated from him after their first breakup, never reuniting, then maybe she wouldn’t have suffered those hurts later.
But if that were the case, there wouldn’t be Ivy... Does this count as gains and losses?
At dinner, Katherine Quinn was well-behaved, eating her food without needing coaxing like some children do, and she wasn’t very picky. Mabel helped serve her daughter some dishes, and the little one just buried her head in eating. But after all, she is a child, and before long, her mouth was covered in rice and food stains. Mabel, intent on fostering her daughter’s independence, didn’t wipe her little face but let her use a tissue to clean herself.
So Kyle Kinston watched as his daughter, like a little cat washing her face, rubbed her face with tissues.
After wiping her face, the little one jumped down from the chair, then scampered off to the bathroom with her tiny stool.
"What’s she doing?" Kyle asked.
"Washing her hands," Mabel replied.
"You’re not going to accompany her?" He seemed a bit surprised.
She said, "Kids at this age need to develop some independence."
Kyle looked thoughtfully at the woman in front of him. She was not just someone he had loved before, not just his wife, but also the mother of his child.
Alone, she raised a child, avoiding him, living in an unfamiliar city for six years... Suddenly, Kyle felt a bit dazed. It all seemed so similar to when his mother left his father, gave birth to him in a strange city, raising him on her own.
But back then, his mother never smiled at him, only beatings and scoldings, whereas their daughter...
"By the way, did you have anything to do with what happened to Mrs. Tian’s husband?" Mabel suddenly asked.
"What?" Kyle looked up puzzled, "Which Mrs. Tian?" His expression showed he had almost forgotten this person.
Mabel said, "The woman who slapped our daughter in kindergarten and had to apologize to Ivy. Her husband, surnamed Tian, works as a director in the Education Bureau."
"Oh, that woman." Kyle suddenly realized, "What happened to her husband?"
"Her husband was transferred from a director position to a regular employee in a small place, and he might never have a chance for a promotion in this lifetime," Mabel explained.
Kyle slightly raised an eyebrow, "What, do you think I did it?"
"Didn’t you?" she countered.
"If I say I didn’t, would you believe me?" he said, his dark phoenix eyes steadily gazing at her.
Mabel fell silent, momentarily unsure of what to say.
Kyle smiled faintly, "If I really did intervene, then Mrs. Tian’s husband wouldn’t just be transferred. But if I did employ such tactics, you wouldn’t be pleased."
Mabel was a bit surprised, not expecting him to say such a thing.
