Chapter 770: Honey, I Was Wrong
Chapter 770: Honey, I Was Wrong
Selena Kensington sat in the car parked at the front.
She recognized it as the car Sterling Norwood often used.
After sitting in the passenger seat, she lowered her eyes, concealing the expression in them.
Internally, she wasn’t too upset about Sterling Norwood’s actions.
After all, she hadn’t provided him with enough security.
Understanding was one thing, but having her loved one test her for so long still caused feelings of grievance and discomfort.
If it weren’t for her rationality and resolve, having never planned to leave with Cole Vaughn initially.
Otherwise, with Sterling Norwood’s current unstable temperament, Selena truly wouldn’t know how to handle it.
Plus, the incident with Cole Vaughn just now had left Selena somewhat agitated.
Fortunately, at the crucial moment, she calmed down.
It was okay to let Cole Vaughn and the others leave, but she must have Felicity Dalton stay.
Just now, to form that talisman, Selena expended considerable energy.
That’s why she remained silent after accomplishing everything and immediately got into the car.
Because she was afraid that if she delayed any further, Sterling Norwood would notice her slightly fatigued posture.
Selena leaned against the seat, breathing quietly.
When she heard the car door next to her open, her eyebrows moved slightly.
But Selena did not raise her head to look beside her.
She continued to lower her eyes, slightly closing them.
Sterling Norwood saw Selena remain silent, his eyelashes quivering slightly.
He carefully leaned closer.
"Darling..."
Sterling called softly.
His voice carried a hint of flattery and caution.
After he said those words, the atmosphere plunged into silence.
After a while, Selena slowly lifted her head to look at him.
Sterling’s eyes lit up, just about to speak further, but noticed Selena slightly furrowing her brow.
"Drive."
She said these two words calmly, no other expression on her face.
Sterling hesitated, seeing Selena’s indifferent eyes, but instead of retreating, he thick-skinnedly leaned closer.
"I’m sorry..."
He reached out, pulling Selena completely into his embrace.
Sterling then rested his chin gently on Selena’s shoulder, tilting his head slightly, his breath causing a tingly feeling on Selena’s ear.
Selena slightly tilted her head, her voice carrying a trace of helplessness, "Stop messing around."
Seeing that Selena was finally willing to acknowledge him, Sterling’s eyes lit up and he leaned closer.
He nuzzled against Selena’s neck, his voice lingering softly, "I’ll accept any punishment, just don’t ignore me, okay..."
If you listen closely, his deep voice had a hint of a whine.
With the nuzzling gesture, it easily made Selena’s heart soften.
And indeed, Selena’s heart softened.
Truth be told, from the moment Sterling leaned over, her heart softened.
But outwardly, she remained calm, casting a glance at Sterling.
Under his expectant gaze, Selena gradually raised her hand... then pushed him away.
"..."
Pushed away, Sterling took a few seconds to recover.
He dared not make a sound, only silently watching Selena.
His pair of bright blue eyes unblinking, hoping to see a softening in Selena’s gaze.
But Selena’s response was to look forward again and say once more, "Drive."
"..."
Sterling noticed a hint of fatigue in Selena’s eyes, immediately reminded of the ability Selena had just used.
He didn’t question why his wife hid so much from him that he didn’t know, but asked worriedly, "Was it because the ability drained your energy?"
Selena nodded.
Sterling pursed his lips slightly, no longer insisting on her forgiving him, and started the car.
"Lean back and take a nap first."
He said softly to Selena after starting the car.
Selena nodded slightly.
Then she leaned back against the seat, closed her eyes, and went to rest.
*
When Selena woke up, she found the sky outside had already darkened.
And the place she was in was her and Sterling’s bedroom.
Selena looked around but didn’t see a trace of Sterling.
She picked up the phone on the bedside table and randomly tapped the screen a few times.
It remained black.
She realized the phone was dead.
Selena felt worried that Vivian Sutton might still be waiting for her at the mall in The West End, so she quickly plugged in the phone to charge.
Once the phone powered on, Selena saw several missed calls and texts.
All were calls from Vivian Sutton.
Without delay, Selena immediately called Vivian Sutton back.
The call was quickly connected.
"Hey, Selie, you scared me to death!"
As soon as the call connected, Selena heard Vivian’s voice, sounding relieved.
"You’re okay now, right?!"
Vivian continued to ask.
Selena was puzzled; did Vivian know something had happened to her?
"You know what I went to do?"
She voiced the question in her heart.
Vivian replied quickly, "Yes, didn’t you go to see Quinn and then went to find her? You really scared me. If it weren’t for your husband showing up later, I was about to call the police."
Selena realized from Vivian’s words that Sterling had already handled it.
That was also good; it kept Vivian out of it.
She exhaled slightly.
"I only just remembered when I saw her. Sorry for worrying you. Next time, let’s go shopping properly as my makeup.
Selena said with a smile.
Vivian’s tone abruptly became much happier, "You said it, no backing out! I’ll hold you to it!"
"Yes, I won’t."
After that, the two ended the call.
Selena placed the phone back to continue charging.
She lifted the covers and got out of bed.
Selena turned on the bedroom light, adjusting to it for a moment.
Then she walked to the door, intending to open it, but just then it was being opened.
Startled, Selena instinctively stepped back.
Yet due to the sudden action, she lost her balance slightly.
Her body leaned slightly backward.
Selena was startled.
At the same moment, Sterling Norwood, who opened the door, saw this and his pupils shrank slightly. He instinctively moved behind Selena, steadying her leaning body.
His voice held a trace of regret, "Did I scare you?"
Selena stabilized herself in his arms. Once she regained her balance, she shook her head slightly.
Then, Selena remembered something else, "Quinn..."
She hadn’t had the chance to check on Felicity Dalton’s situation due to her earlier exhaustion.
"She’s temporarily at the training camp. Sean and the others are figuring out if she’s lost her memory or being controlled."
Sterling obediently answered her question.
