Chapter 452 - 375: Black Wind of the Abyssal Sect
Chapter 452 - 375: Black Wind of the Abyssal Sect
Sun’s massive form blotted out the sky, and its golden Dragon Mighty pressed down like a physical force.
Below, Elvin and the Abyssal Mage both felt a chill and looked up at the sky.
Seeing this, the Mage from the Abyssal Sect knew things were bad. He abandoned the fight. His Black Wind Domain contracted violently, completely enveloping him. He transformed into a black gale and shot recklessly toward the distant mountain forest.
"Sun,"
Raylo gave a short command.
"Stop him."
The Golden Dragon let out a sky-shaking roar and opened its massive maw.
Dragon Breath, like a torrential flood, blocked the black streak’s path of escape.
To evade the Dragon Breath, the Mage, shrouded in the black wind, was forced to a halt.
At almost the same time, a colossal figure appeared at the edge of the horizon.
Kado had finally arrived.
He looked at the Mage who had just landed, grinned to reveal a mouthful of stark white teeth, and without a second word, swung his arm in a wide arc, fiercely hurling the eight-meter-long Javelin in his hand!
VMMMM!
The Javelin, whistling as it tore through the air, was launched later but arrived first, landing precisely less than half a meter in front of the Mage.
The immense Power drove the entire Javelin deep into the rocky ground, leaving only the shaft humming from the violent vibrations.
The powerful gust from the Javelin blew back the Mage’s hood, revealing a deathly pale face.
He looked up and saw the Griffin and Golden Dragon circling in the sky, and not far away, a Giant striding toward him like a moving mountain.
Three Domain Level opponents!
The sky was partitioned by the wings of the Golden Dragon and the Griffin King.
On the ground, the Hill Giant Kado stood like an insurmountable peak, blocking the retreat to the Black Stone Mountain Range.
The confrontation between the Frost Domain and the Black Wind Domain had ceased, leaving only the bone-chilling wind created by Elvin still swirling on the battlefield.
The Mage from the Abyssal Sect stood rooted to the spot, his hood having fallen to reveal a pale, gaunt face.
His gaze swept over the Giant Dragon in the sky, then to the Giant not far off, before finally landing on the still-trembling Javelin.
Despair, terror, or perhaps madness...
Raylo expected to see these emotions on his face, but there were none.
The Mage’s mouth twisted into a grin. It started as a silent twitch, then erupted into a sharp, bizarre laugh that echoed in the cold wind, sounding particularly jarring.
"Haha...!"
To Raylo’s astonishment, the Black Wind surrounding the Mage collapsed inward like a punctured balloon, finally dissipating into a few wisps of black smoke.
Without the protection of his Domain, Elvin’s frigid wind instantly enveloped him. A layer of white Frost immediately formed on the Mage’s thin black robes. He shivered from the cold but paid it no mind.
He raised his hands in a gesture of surrender.
"I surrender."
His voice was still hoarse, but the desperate, fight-to-the-death tone was gone, replaced by an almost playful calm.
This sudden turn of events stunned everyone.
Kado had just pulled another Javelin from his back, preparing to unleash his Triple Pearls technique, but he paused and scratched his head in confusion.
Raylo’s brow furrowed. He had anticipated a fierce battle, expected a desperate last stand from a cornered enemy, but he had never imagined such a quick and clean surrender.
’Something’s fishy. This Mage is no coward who clings to life, or he wouldn’t have fought Elvin for so long.’
Elvin urged his Frost Giant Bear slowly forward, his expression also holding a trace of surprise.
He leaped down from the Giant Bear’s back. At some point, a set of Secret Silver Chains, shimmering with Magic Runes, had appeared in his hands.
"Smart move."
Elvin walked up to the Mage and unceremoniously bound him tightly with the Magic Chains.
The Mage was extremely cooperative, even proactively extending his wrists to let the cold chains bind his hands, all while making a clicking sound with his tongue.
"The Thunder Dragon Duchy certainly has a grand way of welcoming guests. Three Domain Level experts, and His Highness the Crown Prince himself, here to greet a nobody like me!"
Raylo leaped down from Baofeng’s Back.
"Why did he surrender?"
Raylo walked toward Elvin, his gaze never leaving the nonchalant prisoner.
"Because he knows he won’t be killed."
Elvin sneered.
"Being killed on the battlefield and being executed after surrendering are two completely different concepts," Elvin explained. "Dying in battle means your skills were inferior. The Abyssal Sect might seek revenge, but it’s still within the rules of engagement. But if we were to kill a prisoner who has surrendered, the nature of the act would change. It would be tantamount to declaring war on the entire Abyssal Sect."
He paused, a hint of helplessness in his tone.
"The guy was right about one thing just now: the Abyssal Sect always takes revenge. They’re a bunch of madmen, vengeful madmen who will retaliate for the smallest slight."
Raylo became thoughtful.
He was beginning to understand the crux of the matter.
"Most importantly," Elvin lowered his voice,
"his crimes in the Thunder Dragon Duchy this time aren’t punishable by death. He was only spreading some rumors about the Black Stone Territory among the various fiefs to incite panic. It’s disgusting, but according to the Duchy’s laws, it only warrants a few years in prison."
"The Duke would never order the execution of a Domain Level Mage from the Abyssal Sect over something like this and make a sworn enemy of the entire sect."
"The Light Holy See is already being aggressive, so the Duke doesn’t want to make another powerful enemy. In fact... at certain times, the Abyssal Sect could even serve as a counterweight to the Holy See."
