Chapter 119 The Hero Who Was Schemed Against
Chapter 119 The Hero Who Was Schemed Against
After leaving the church, the bishops did not go their separate ways, but instead went to a church in the inner city.
"The saintess makes it sound so easy, but how are we supposed to send a hero to defeat Diana!"
"I heard they seem to know each other; Diana even saved the hero once!"
The bishop in the middle, who was at the head of the group, said with a smile:
“I know Enoch very well. He’s a man who hates evil. All we need to do is let him know that Diana is the evil queen, and then let Diana kill his family. He will naturally be determined to fight Diana to the death!”
The female cult leader was somewhat puzzled.
“We have absolutely no evidence that Diana is the Demon Lord! Besides, it’s simply impossible for her to kill Enoch’s family!”
The leading bishop revealed a sinister smile.
"Some things don't necessarily have to be true; it's enough if others believe they are true!"
The other bishops exchanged glances, their eyes filled with mockery.
"That's right! If we make her real, then she is real!"
A few sinister laughs echoed from inside the sacred church.
Early in the morning, Enoch left his manor as usual, intending to go to the palace to seek guidance from the Sword Saint on swordsmanship and also to visit Princess Lana.
He always ran along the same route to the palace, which allowed him to breathe in the fresh morning air and also to exercise.
However, there have been fewer and fewer people on the streets lately, making the wide streets seem rather deserted.
Suddenly, he saw a somewhat familiar white figure flash by and enter an alley.
Driven by curiosity, Enoch ran over, but before he could even greet them, he heard faint conversations coming from the alleyway. He stopped in his tracks after hearing a few sensitive words.
"My lord! Most of the people in the capital are already on their way to Oliver City. Your plan has been a great success!"
Enoch frowned slightly and moved a little closer, trying to hear more clearly, but the alley fell silent.
Just as he was wondering what was going on, a voice rang out beside him, startling him.
"Enoch! What are you doing here?"
Enoch took a few steps forward, glancing around the alleyway out of the corner of his eye, but didn't see anyone.
"Miss Diana, it's been a long time! I'm on my way to the palace, what about you? What are you doing here?"
Diana smiled and walked over.
"Oh, I see! I was also planning to visit Master Sword Saint, wanna come along?"
Enoch cautiously took a few steps back, creating some distance between them. He gripped the hilt of the sword and used Appraisal. A fork appeared before him, but he could not appraise it.
A necklace worn by Diana inside her clothes trembled slightly, and she gave a playful smile.
"It seems you've heard something you shouldn't have. I advise you not to meddle in other people's business, or you'll regret it!"
After saying that, Diana almost imperceptibly crushed a crystal engraved with an array in her palm. Instantly, a white magic circle appeared beneath her feet, and then she disappeared from the spot.
'How is this possible! It really is Diana!'
"not good!"
Enoch suddenly remembered something, turned around instantly, and sped towards his manor.
He is quite far from his manor, and even though he has pushed his speed to the limit, it will still take him some time to get there.
Enoch's worries grew heavier, and he even wore cracks into the cobblestone pavement beneath his feet.
When he saw thick smoke rising from the manor in the distance, his eyes became bloodshot, veins bulged on his forehead, and he increased his speed even further.
When he rushed into the manor, he was stunned. Everywhere he looked, there were severed limbs and broken bodies, not a single one intact. The grass was almost entirely stained red.
Those familiar faces were filled with terror.
Enoch rushed into the still-burning house, which was still a scene of utter devastation. He gritted his teeth, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
He recognized each face: his biological father, stepmother, and several half-brothers. It seemed he had found everyone, yet he continued searching every corner of the house. Even though the thick smoke blurred his vision and the high temperature made his skin ache, he did not give up.
As the house was about to collapse, he finally managed to get out, but he didn't see that familiar figure—his younger sister.
For some reason, he felt a sense of relief, but it was quickly replaced by anger. His aura suddenly surged, and he actually leveled up!
Enoch knelt before the collapsed house, remained silent for a moment, then suddenly stood up, his eyes resolute.
"I will definitely avenge you!"
"Isia! I will find you!"
Because Enoch's manor was quite remote, no one knew what was happening there, and he wouldn't tell anyone, especially since his sister's fate was still unknown.
'Isia is probably being held captive; she's being used as leverage against me. They seem to know me quite well.'
Once Enoch calmed down, he felt something was amiss. If that person really was Diana, with her strength, why would she go to all this trouble? She could have easily taken him down.
Although he believed that with his strength, he wouldn't be taken down so easily, given Diana's fearless personality, she would definitely take action directly!
Unless, of course, everything was an act by Diana, and everything she did was just a performance, then she was truly terrifying!
'No matter who you are! I will find you!'
Enoch began cleaning the body; many parts were no longer distinguishable, so he dug a large pit in the manor and buried them all together.
After doing all this, Enoch observed his surroundings, and then his figure gradually blurred until he disappeared completely. He used the invisibility skill, a light-attribute skill that achieves invisibility by altering the refraction of light around him.
Enoch waited near the manor for a while but didn't find anyone.
The longer it went on, the more anxious he became, and his thoughts became increasingly chaotic.
Suddenly, Enoch thought of someone.
'If it were her, perhaps she could find some clues!'
With his sister's life at stake, he dared not trust anyone now, not even his own teammates, except for that one person.
Enoch headed toward the palace.
······
In a simple room in the palace, Lana was intently reading a book. Her hand paused slightly as she turned the pages, then she naturally moved on to the next page.
A figure slowly appeared in front of her, and Lana dropped the book in her hand, looking terrified.
"It's me! Your Highness Lana! Things happened so suddenly, I'm so sorry I can only come to see you like this!"
Enoch, feeling guilty for having frightened Lana, bowed and apologized.
"Oh, it's you! Enoch, it's alright!"
"You're acting so strangely, something really difficult must have happened! Sit down and rest for a bit! Tell me slowly!"
Lana gestured for Enoch to sit down and poured him a cup of tea.
Enoch felt his agitated mood suddenly calm down a lot. His eyes were a little moist. Princess Lana was still as gentle as ever. It was always comfortable to be around her.
Enoch recounted what had happened in detail.
Lana looked regretful, then said seriously:
"What's done is done, and there's no going back. The most important thing now is to find Isia!"
"As you said, there are only two possibilities!"
"The first possibility is that Diana did all of this, but there's a question here. Given Diana's strength and personality, she could have easily killed you to silence you, but she didn't. Instead, she provoked you in this extreme way!"
"It's like she wants you to fight her to the death! What's the point of her doing this!"
"As you guessed, everything Diana did before was an act. That means she was extremely cunning and scheming. How could someone like her let you discover her plans so easily?"
Enoch fell into deep thought. 'Indeed! That doesn't make any sense at all!'
Lana took a sip of tea.
"The second possibility is that someone wants to use you to get rid of Diana, and it's a trap they deliberately set!"
Enoch's eyes were sharp.
"Who! Why would he do this?!"
Lana's eyes had a touch of allure as she met Enoch's gaze.
"You already know who it is, don't you!"
The two words were spat out by Enoch through gritted teeth.
"church!"
