Chapter 122 Variables

Chapter 122 Variables

Just as Lorraine jumped off the cliff, Archmage Atarik leisurely walked up to his attendant.

He stared at Lorraine's retreating figure, lost in thought. Judging from their appearances, Eileen, dressed as a mage apprentice, and the black-clad bodyguard were clearly from Dalaran.

However, upon closer reflection, Joseph and his disciples had been missing on Fenice Island for many days.

Erin's sudden return, claiming to be from Southshore, yet wielding the Dalaran Scrolls to incite the soldiers to resist, is clearly suspicious.

"Where's Eileen? Have you found her?"

"Miss Eileen has not been found; it seems she has already left..."

The guard answered hesitantly, avoiding Atalik's furious gaze...

.......

Lorraine has already run away, but there's still Eileen.

She was located near the kitchen. Upon hearing the report, the Grand Master immediately sensed something was amiss and sent people to check the food and water.

The magic-resistant potion developed by the master apothecary is colorless and odorless when dropped into water, and animals and livestock show no reaction after drinking it.

Archmage Atalik was puzzled.

Unable to understand, he could only blame the group of apprentice guards for their incompetence in letting Lorraine escape right under their noses.

The servants and guards muttered to themselves, "If Archmage Atalik himself isn't taking action, what can they do... Besides, they heard that strange cat say that Lorraine is a grandmaster of magic."

In Dalaran, the Grandmaster of Magic is a mythical figure.

Ordinary guards are rarely seen; it is said that only members of the Council of Tirisfal could reach that level.

In the current Kirin Tor Council of Six in Dalaran, only Khadgar, Krasus, or the leader Rhonin possess that level of expertise. The others are all archmages, and most members of the Violet Eye are merely ordinary mages.

How can one capture a true master of magic?

This is no joke!

So no matter how much Archmage Atarik scolded them, they remained silent with their heads bowed.

.......

"Ah, it's alright, Master Atalik. He's just a spy sent to gather intelligence. My men have already told me he's an undead imposter."

"Huh? An undead!"

General Barry nodded with a smile; his trusted aide, Inval, had already transformed back into human form. But having successfully allowed Lorraine to escape, his arrogance vanished instantly, leaving him looking like a clown...

Invar walked up to the two men and nodded to Archmage Atalik as a greeting.

Atalik was surprised that the Crimson Knight seemed to be an elf, except that a turban covered his pointed ears. His fiery red hair, distinctive eyes, and ornate leather armor looked vaguely familiar.

I feel like I've seen this bloodthirsty killer somewhere before.

"Master, please don't mind him. Mr. Invar is a hero who came from your Dalaran."

"Invar! The Spellbreaker. The Blood Elf..."

Atalric remembered that back when the high elf prince Kael'thas & Sunstrider were still members of the Kirin Tor, there were many elven mages in Dalaran, and even the red dragon Krasus was a blood elf.

Of course, the members of the Violet Eye already know that Lord Krasus's true identity is actually the companion of the Red Dragon King, and the youngest genius dragon language mage of the Red Dragons.

Krasus has always helped Dalaran, which is why the Blue Dragonflight has always been wary of the Red Dragonflight...

To be precise, it was out of fear of Krasus the Red Dragon alone.

Rhonin, the leader of Dalaran, was Krasus's disciple, and the blood elf mages also revered Krasus as their mentor. Krasus's true strength was already at the level of a Magister.

His life's flames burned away all evil.

For the undead and demons, attacking Dalaran is much easier now that it has lost the protection of the dragon geniuses.

To avoid weakening its power, Dalaran chose to welcome back the high elf mages. Aethas & the Sunreavers and the mages who had once followed the Blood Elf prince returned to Dalaran.

Within the Silver Covenant, some high elves chose to aid humanity, fighting alongside them against the undead and demons.

Within the Blood Elf faction, Spellbreakers are a force that the Human faction has always feared.

They are elven mages themselves, but primarily study skills that counter magical power. Spellbreakers are a special force among blood elves.

This Invar & Spellbreaker once served alongside the Elven prince in Dalaran. Later, Prince Kael'thas joined the Demon Hunter Illidan, while this renowned commander of the High Elf Royal Guard chose to join the human side.

He joined not the Alliance, but the Scarlet Crusade.

This was a disappointment to the higher-ups in Dalaran, as spellbreakers posed a significant threat to mages.

They are specifically designed to kill magical units...

After confirming Invar's identity, Archmage Atal'ik felt uneasy. It was an instinctive wariness; the opponent was an elven spellbreaker.

The blood elves are known for their treacherous nature, having joined the human alliance multiple times, only to later betray it for various reasons...

They are arrogant, conceited, and selfish...

This was the impression of the human archmage Atal'ar, who personally harbored extreme aversion to the members of the Sunreavers' Temple led by Aethas and the Sunreavers.

The blood elf mages were speaking to the undead and orcs, and they wanted to bring all the Horde mages into Dalaran.

This enraged the human mages, who couldn't understand why Master Rhonin, the current Guardian Lord Khadgar, and Lord Krasus would side with the Horde.

Although these three leaders only stated that they would remain neutral, maintain peace, not participate in any conflict, and even prevent war and magic from ravaging Azeroth again...

The human faction, led by Modra, Ansrem & Ruinvivor, argues that this is unreasonable. Why doesn't the human magical kingdom of Dalaran speak for humanity?

However, compared to their superior strength, the two human Kirin Tor members were merely at the level of archmages...

With Rhonin as the leader, Dalaran's neutrality was a foregone conclusion, 4-2, and would remain unshakable for a long time.

......

Atal'ik was annoyed by all this... The blood elves joined the Scarlet Crusade and became General Barry's henchmen...

"Blood elves are a disgusting bunch, just like the undead! Sylvanas is their leader!"

He grumbled inwardly, but with General Barry right next to him, he could only nod politely in response.

In reality, the atmosphere wasn't very harmonious!

.......

General Barry seemed completely oblivious to the animosity between the two. He laughed heartily, "Master, since we all have a history, that's a good thing. Now that we share a common enemy and are united in purpose, our strength can break through anything!"

“My support forces will be there soon. If Dalaran can hold out for a few more days, those self-proclaimed Forsaken will meet their doom.”

"Don't be upset. Come and try the milk wine I brought from Kul Tiras; it's a unique brew from the island. It'll warm you up and be a good gift! Haha..."

Barry stroked his beard, took Atalik's arm, and walked into the house.

He didn't take the little incident of spies or traitors to heart at all.

Ignored, Tylan and his knights could only put their weapons back and return to their positions dejectedly... The guards resumed their patrols, increasing vigilance and searching...

Aside from Lorraine, who was still shaken after fleeing, the guard who had tried to warn Ambermill that there was no one guarding the rear was reprimanded by Atalik, and left dejectedly...

Only the black cat in the clerk's arms aroused everyone's interest; none of them had ever seen a cat that could talk.

Aside from the night elf druids who can transform into animals...

They stole glances at the cat, but it was fast asleep in the clerk's arms... The clerk, holding the cat, didn't enter the inner chamber where Atalik and Barry were.

He sat on a chair near the porch...

He seemed like a waiter, a guard, or a supervisor...

Everything returned to calm, as if everything that had just happened was just an illusion.

However, Lorraine's escape was only the beginning. A messenger rushed into the Archmage's drawing room. He nearly tripped, his hurried report causing even the cats to prick up their ears:

"It's terrible, Grand Mage! Three airships have arrived, along with a huge swarm of bats. The lakeside seems to have been overrun!"

The messenger had barely finished speaking when the two bigwigs, who were still enjoying their wine and tea, instantly stood up and exchanged a glance: "How is that possible!"

The two were incredulous. The reason Ambermill could now rest easy was because the battlefield of Lordamir Lake had become the main battlefield.

Undercity is facing a three-way attack, with the Alliance army and the Forsaken Legion locked in a standoff on the shores of Dalaran!

The Scourge liches are approaching from the north, and the Scarlet Crusade is also launching surprise attacks near Tirisfal Glades...

"The Alliance camp has been captured?!"

"impossible!"
