Chapter 11 Don't Tell Me You're Pregnant
Behind the desk, Huo Sili jumped up, staring at Jiang Qin with dark, unfathomable pupils.
"Jiang Qin," he called out in a cold voice.
With her back slightly hunched, Jiang Qin felt her blood rush backward, as if she were being immersed in an icy lake, her limbs and bones chilled to the bone.
She wanted to stand up straight quickly so he wouldn't overthink it, but the intense discomfort prevented her from doing so.
She could only watch as the man's shiny black handmade leather shoes appeared in her field of vision, which was visible even when she looked down.
Jiang Qin's body stiffened, and she slowly raised her head. Huo Sili's eyes were dark and deep, and his handsome face was covered with a layer of frost.
"Don't tell me you're pregnant."
His tone was not one of unquestionable meaning, but rather a cold, simple statement, filled with warning and brooking no argument.
Jiang Qin's face turned deathly pale, and in an instant, her heart felt as if it had been thrown into a meat grinder and pulverized into a pile of mud.
Jiang Qin always remembered that Huo Sili had said that they would not have children.
But when the man she loved with all her heart, her nominal husband, so heartlessly said those words to her face, the impact was completely different.
But Jiang Qin didn't have time to feel sad, because she knew clearly the gap between herself and Huo Sili. He was the heir of a top-tier wealthy family in Kyoto, while she was just an ordinary person.
With his power and status, dealing with an individual is as easy as crushing an ant, let alone a small baby.
She knew he could do it. But if they really had a child, why should he be the one to decide the child's life or death?
He is the child's father, but isn't she the child's mother? Moreover, they had been secretly married for four years, and he clearly knew how much she longed for a complete family.
"Don't worry, Mr. Huo, I'm just not feeling well today." Suppressing her discomfort, Jiang Qin straightened up and met Huo Sili's eyes.
My mind was racing, and my pale face wore a businesslike expression. “You had a car accident at noon, and I rushed to the hospital. I was in such a hurry on the way that I felt unwell after signing the papers. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Assistant He.”
Huo Sili looked at Jiang Qin without saying anything, it was unclear whether he had taken her words to heart or simply ignored them.
The wind stopped at that moment, and Jiang Qin's discomfort subsided.
Seeing that he didn't move, she simply took out her phone and decided to call He Xu herself.
Huo Sili frowned slightly, then suddenly interrupted her, "Go to the hospital."
Jiang Qin's hand holding the phone stiffened slightly. She looked up and met Huo Sili's gaze. The man had long, deep eyes and a calm, still look.
"You're afraid to go?"
Recalling the test results from her hospital visit last night and what the doctor had said, Jiang Qin felt reassured and smiled faintly.
"Why don't you dare to go? I've already told you, I'm not feeling well, Mr. Huo..."
As soon as the word "既" was uttered, a sudden surge was felt.
Jiang Qin's expression turned strange for a moment, then she suddenly turned and walked out. Huo Sili raised an eyebrow slightly and followed her.
In the outer office, Jiang Qin put down her bag, quickly opened a drawer, took out a sanitary napkin, and went out.
As she stepped into the corridor, she heard familiar footsteps behind her, and Jiang Qin forced a smile.
How much does he not want her to get pregnant with his child, and why does he want to personally confirm whether her period is real or not?
When she got to the restroom, Jiang Qin, who had been holding her breath for days, finally relaxed completely.
It seems she was overthinking it; she really did come.
When I felt better, I went outside to wash my hands and saw Horst standing in the hallway. He gave me a friendly look.
"Mr. Huo, are you still worried? Should I take a picture and show it to you?"
The headquarters closed on time, and the office area was empty. Jiang Qin walked to Huo Sili's side and said calmly.
However, she said this casually. Although she sometimes couldn't understand Huo Sili's thoughts over the past year, she was clear about some of his bottom lines. Huo Sili wouldn't be so perverted as to actually agree to let her take pictures.
It turned out she did understand him. After giving her a deep look, Horstley changed the subject in a cold tone.
"The things are in the drawer, take them yourself."
After saying that, his two long legs, encased in trousers, strode towards the elevator.
Jiang Qin withdrew her gaze and returned to the president's office. She went into the inner room and opened Huo Sili's drawer as he had instructed.
The gift box was placed inside, with a ribbon tied with a pretty bow that shimmered with colorful light, and it didn't look like it had been tampered with.
After taking the gift box, Jiang Qin slung her bag over her shoulder again, locked the door, and headed towards another elevator.
Just as I pressed the down button, my phone rang; it was Su Lejia.
"Hello? Qinqin, where are you? At the company? I'll come pick you up!"
Jiang Qin was stunned for a moment before she remembered that after learning yesterday morning that Huo Sili had used her as a substitute, Su Lejia immediately said she would come to accompany her, but unfortunately Su Lejia was away on a business trip these past two days, so she asked her to wait for her to come back.
She probably came back today, but so much happened today, and she was completely out of sorts yesterday.
I forgot about it, but it's obviously the perfect time to have dinner together.
"Yes, I'm at the company, just about to go downstairs," Jiang Qin said.
Su Lejia replied in a deliberately lively tone, "Okay, then wait for me for six minutes, I'll be there soon."
At the perfect moment, in the sixth minute, a white BMW stopped in front of Jiang Qin.
As soon as they got in the car, Su Lejia started a conversation about what to eat and drink, and then talked about her experiences on her business trip to another city over the past two days. She didn't stop talking.
Jiang Qin could tell that Su Lejia was trying to comfort her and help her get over the hurt Huo Sili had caused her as soon as possible.
She and Su Lejia were classmates in junior high and high school, and went to the same university. They were best friends and friends for many years. However, Su Lejia later got a boyfriend, and they each had their own jobs, so they naturally lost touch.
Jiang Qin was warmed by these words of comfort. The car stopped at a red light, and after thinking for a moment, Jiang Qin said...
"I'm fine. We've already filed for divorce, and he's agreed. It shouldn't be long before we're no longer connected."
Su Lejia opened her mouth wide, wanting to comfort her, but Jiang Qin, before she could finish speaking, suddenly looked over and smiled at Su Lejia.
"Lele, do you remember that overseas company I mentioned to you? I got an offer from them."
"An overseas company, is it... is it the art position?!"
Su Lejia remembered that company; it was a large, globally renowned company with a wide range of businesses. Jiang Qin had mentioned it to her before, and she remembered that she really wanted to go there.
Jiang Qin nodded, "Yes, that's the one I want to go to the most."
Su Lejia's eyes suddenly lit up, and she instantly transformed into the atmosphere-maker.
"Aww!! Sisters! Let's go! Love can't compare to the allure of a career!!"
As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly caught sight of something out of the corner of her eye and said, "Hey, Qinqin, did you drop something?"
Jiang Qin followed the gaze and looked down. Her eyelids twitched, and she quickly picked up the paper.
Su Lejia noticed the hospital's colorful logo. "The Third Hospital? Are you sick?"
"No," Jiang Qin hurriedly replied, secretly relieved. She had been so foolish yesterday; after folding the diagnosis report, she had carelessly put it in the outer pocket of her bag.
Thankfully, I'm on my period now, otherwise if that thing had fallen out and been seen by Horst, I probably wouldn't be able to explain myself.
"What is that?" Su Lejia asked as she drove the car away after the traffic started moving.
Jiang Qin briefly explained the situation, "That's it, it's okay, it's already here, it's not pregnancy."
Su Lejia's expression turned somewhat unpleasant. "But what about Qinqin?"
Sensing something was wrong, Jiang Qin became a little nervous, "But what is it?"
"Bleeding is possible in early pregnancy, but it varies from person to person. My aunt experienced it, and she told me that it looked like she was getting her period. Later, after a while, she realized something was wrong and went to get checked, only to find out she was pregnant."
During Kyoto's rush hour, traffic was congested, and the white BMW came to a stop again.
Su Lejia turned her head and looked at Jiang Qin, whose face was pale, her gaze showing obvious concern and worry.
"But don't panic, it might just be a delayed period. But I think you should still go to the hospital for a check-up at some time."
