The white man also woke up from his hallucination, but he looked somewhat melancholy and was still a little dazed.
The newly arrived airport security personnel were at a loss, unsure of what to do.
This farce ended with a customer service representative from the low-cost carrier coming to the airport to apologize to Gu Ran.
The airport's security chief also came up to apologize.
They didn't ask Gu Ran and Lu Mingfei to get off the plane, nor did they make them give up their seats.
At the same time, the two also subtly inquired whether there would be any aftereffects from the witchcraft that Gu Ran had previously performed on their colleagues.
It turns out that before the security chief arrived, a customs officer warned him that Gu Ran might be practicing mysterious witchcraft, and that his suitcase contained scrolls recording curses.
Therefore, they all thought Gu Ran was a sorcerer who would cast curses on people.
People with religious beliefs always show great awe towards mysterious forces.
After all, the laws of the United States cannot punish witchcraft murder!
Therefore, they not only felt awe, but also fear.
Gu Ran said in a serious tone, "As long as they treat everyone equally and maintain respect between people, there will be no problem. The Lord is forgiving and will naturally forgive them."
Upon hearing this, the two thanked the customer service representative repeatedly, and the representative even gave Gu Ran and Lu Mingfei ten $200 discount coupons for airfares.
"I'm already planning not to fly with this company anymore, so what's the point of giving me a coupon?" Lu Mingfei complained.
Gu Ran said, "Otherwise, we can give them to our fellow believers around us."
As he spoke, he handed out all the coupons.
Lu Mingfei curled his lip at Gu Ran, "You're a director, an actor, and a charlatan all at once, you've got quite a few identities."
And so, this farce came to an end.
……
Four hours later, Gu Ran and Lu Mingfei finally arrived in Chicago. They picked up their luggage, took a taxi from the airport, and after a bumpy ride, finally arrived at the Chicago train station.
Lu Mingfei had a lot of luggage. He was pushing two large suitcases himself, while Gu Ran carried a large bag for him and also carried a quilt.
Gu Ran had very little luggage, just a single suitcase.
Lu Mingfei thought to himself that he had been following Gu Ran all the way by holding onto his clothes, and at the last stop, he should show his abilities and prove his worth.
So he volunteered to check the departure time of the CC1000 express train and find out where the platform was.
However, after searching the timetable for a long time and asking different staff members, Lu Mingfei was told that there was no information about this train.
If it weren't for the fact that the magnetic card for the ticket could indeed be swiped through the gate, they would have thought Lu Mingfei was there to cause trouble.
Gu Ran knew what was going on and said calmly, "Let's wait a bit. Some alumni should be coming over soon, and we can ask them then."
"Should we wear a name tag around our necks to show that we are new students at Kassel College?" Lu Mingfei looked around to see if there were any cardboard boxes.
He plans to write large characters on cardboard boxes to attract alumni.
Gu Ran placed Lu Mingfei's twelve-hole quilt on the lounge chair and said, "But if you do that, doesn't it look like a pitiful kitten in an anime begging to be adopted?"
Lu Mingfei thought about it and realized it really did seem similar.
Weak, pitiful, helpless.
How embarrassing!
Gu Ran asked him with a smile, "Are you hungry?"
"I'm starving!" Lu Mingfei's stomach was practically flat from hunger.
"There's a Subway over there, let's go get a Subway wrap," Gu Ran suggested.
As soon as the two reached the entrance of Subway, they saw a tall, burly young man walking towards them, begging for food.
"One dollar, just one dollar." The young man begged in English; he had a full beard and was fairly handsome.
If it weren't for that messy, ramen-noodle-like hair.
When Lu Mingfei saw a beggar approaching, he immediately waved his hand and said in English that he was very poor and had no money, and that he should ask someone else for help.
The young man then looked at Gu Ran.
Gu Ran smiled and said in Chinese, "I do have five hundred in cash, but I didn't have change."
Lu Mingfei whispered, "Brother, are you confused? This tall and strong beggar shouldn't understand Chinese."
"I'm not a beggar, I just lost my wallet!" The tall, burly young man immediately switched to fluent and standard Mandarin, "Please, gentlemen, give me some money for food, I haven't eaten nine meals in three days!"
Lu Mingfei complained, "Is the begging industry this competitive now? Do you even need to know several languages?"
"I told you I'm not a beggar!" The burly young man pulled a magnetic ticket from his pocket and showed it to the two men. "Have you ever seen a beggar with such a nice ticket?"
Lu Mingfei's eyes widened. On the black surface of the magnetic card ticket, a lush tree was drawn in silver.
Chapter 90 Fellow Disciples
Lu Mingfei took out his ticket and compared it with Fingel's; they were exactly the same.
Gu Ran smiled and said, "It seems this is the senior we've been waiting for."
That's right, it's Fingel.
"You're freshmen?" Fingel glanced at the tickets in Lu Mingfei's hand and immediately hugged the two of them. "Great! Come on, juniors, treat me to a submarine sandwich first. I'll protect you guys at school!"
The three of them walked into Subway chatting and laughing, and ordered several set meals.
Lu Mingfei, upholding the spirit of thrift, suggested that since Coke can be refilled unlimited times, ordering just one Coke would be enough, and the three of them could share it, saving a lot of money!
Fingel immediately praised this spirit, while Gu Ran said he wanted a latte and that the two of them could share it.
Lu Mingfei thought that following his senior would lead to a bright future, so he chatted enthusiastically with Fingel.
But when he learned that Fingel was in eighth grade, he was completely dumbfounded.
He thought to himself, "I wonder which professor this senior is working with. He's so unlucky that he hasn't graduated after eight years."
After finishing their Subway meal, the three of them went to the train station entrance.
Gu Ran thought to herself that someone had deliberately delayed the school's train schedule in order to test Lu Mingfei.
He could use his A-level privileges to call the train over, but he was also a bit tired from the long journey these past two days.
So Gu Ran suggested, "Why don't we go to a hotel? Waiting here isn't a solution."
"Oh, junior brother, your family is well-off, do you own a mine?" Fingel rubbed his hands together and came over to curry favor. Gu Ran had also paid for the Subway earlier.
Gu Ran laughed and said, "I don't have a mine, but my girlfriend's family does."
Upon hearing this, Fingel's eyes lit up even more: "Oh, amazing, amazing! Junior brother, look at me, I'm not bad looking either. Could you teach me how to live off a woman?"
"This is something you're born with, I don't know how to teach it," Gu Ran said with a smile, spreading his hands.
"No, no, no, junior brother, you must have some special skills. Please teach me!"
Lu Mingfei covered his face, thinking that having a senior brother like this was hopeless.
So the three of them went to a nearby star-rated hotel. As soon as Lu Mingfei saw the hotel’s luxurious lobby, he knew that it was expensive.
He said to Gu Ran, "Isn't this place too expensive...?"
"It's okay, someone's treating." Gu Ran smiled at him nonchalantly.
Lu Mingfei thought he was talking about Su Xiaoqiang, the little angel who was incredibly wealthy and whose boyfriend was abroad, so she must have given him a lot of dowry.
Gu Ran booked a suite with three rooms and then took out a black card to pay the bill.
Upon seeing the card, Fingel snatched it away and, upon seeing the cardholder's signature on the card, exclaimed in surprise, "Isn't this the principal's supplementary credit card?"
"Principal?" Lu Mingfei asked in surprise.
“I’ve always heard that old man Angers has an illegitimate son in China…” As he spoke, Fingel looked at Gu Ran with a strange gaze.
Gu Ran was both amused and exasperated: "This is the compensation that old man gave me after I went on a mission in South Korea."
"Principal? That old man?" Lu Mingfei asked like a curious child. "What's the mission?"
"Oh, junior, you've already been on missions." Fingel put his arm around Gu Ran's shoulder. "Then you're much better than me, your senior. Please look after me from now on!"
"I said, what kind of riddles are you two talking about?" Lu Mingfei shouted at the two of them in a low voice.
Gu Ran told him, "You'll find out when you do college entrance exam tutoring."
After entering the suite, the three of them took a comfortable shower in their respective bedrooms.
After taking a shower, the group, who had traveled a long way, finally felt refreshed.
Fingel, wrapped in a bathrobe from the bathroom, lay sprawled on the sofa, idly pressing the remote control.
Wearing a T-shirt and shorts, Lu Mingfei leaned closer to Fingel and whispered, "I heard that foreign hotels have pay-per-view channels..."
"Hehehe!" The two looked at each other and laughed, then prepared to watch some adult movies.
Lu Mingfei suddenly remembered something: "What if the train arrives unexpectedly and we're not at the station?"
Gu Ran, who was standing to the side, took out his laptop and said nonchalantly, "I've already sent a message to our mentor, Guderian. He'll call us when the train arrives."
"Your mentor is Guderian?" Fingel asked.
“Yes,” Lu Mingfei replied.
Fingel exclaimed happily, "Then the three of us are fellow disciples!"
Lu Mingfei was taken aback: "Your mentor is also Guderian?"
"Yeah! What a coincidence, brothers!"
"It's over!"
Lu Mingfei felt that his future was bleak. His mentor seemed to be a bit eccentric, which made him very uneasy.
Seeing Fingel, an eighth grader, he wondered if he would have to repeat a grade too.
Fingel held the weak, pitiful, and helpless Lu Mingfei, preparing to give him a big hug from his senior.
Lu Mingfei cursed and said, "You German wolfhound, stay away!"
Gu Ran, holding her laptop, watched them fool around for a while.
