Chapter 20 Farewell
Chapter 20 Farewell
Chapter 20 Farewell
A month later.
In the Ice God Valley, Huo Yuhao was releasing his second martial soul, unfurling enormous ice-blue wings and hovering in mid-air. Broken ice spikes and snow chunks were scattered all around him. Judging from the cold sweat beading on his forehead, one could imagine the immense effort he had expended to dodge these attacks.
The Snow Empress looked at Huo Yuhao, who was resting in mid-air, and conjured another huge ice spike in her hand. However, she didn't throw it immediately, but gently asked, "Yuhao, shall we continue?"
Huo Yuhao flapped his wings with all his might, creating another distance between himself and Xue Di. His soul power was almost depleted, but he still had one ability he hadn't used yet. With that thought, Huo Yuhao made up his mind and began to gather his strength.
"The last time!"
Xue Di did not reply. The huge ice spike in her hand was thrown out as if it had no weight, and it rushed towards Huo Yuhao at an extremely fast speed.
A flash of icy blue light streaked past, and Huo Yuhao barely dodged the attack. He had just been forced to use the power of the Ice Phoenix Wings, and with his remaining soul power, he could only barely unleash that skill.
Huo Yuhao had been gathering his strength for a while, and now it was finally over. He cupped his hands in a cradling motion, and ice blue, ice white, and ice turquoise intertwined to form a strange triangular rune. Then, he gently tossed it towards Xue Di.
Xue Di narrowed her eyes. Although she didn't know the function of Huo Yuhao's skill, she still instinctively felt that something was wrong. She clenched her fist in the air, and an ice-blue imperial sword appeared out of thin air.
The Snow Emperor swung her sword at the triangular rune, but strangely, the rune seemed to exist as if it didn't exist, allowing the sword to slide through it. Then, the rune transformed into starlight of ice blue, ice white, and ice green and dissipated into the air.
Xue Di stared blankly at the Emperor Sword in her hand. She could clearly feel that the power of the skill she was using had been reduced by twenty percent!
A Soul Master?
Did it reduce the power of your skill by 20%?
Xue Di was stunned. Her invincible Imperial Sword had actually suffered a great loss against a Soul Venerable today! Even if she had held back beforehand and hadn't used it at its full potential, it was impossible for a Soul Venerable to weaken her! Moreover, she had weakened him by twenty percent!
Xue Di took a deep breath and looked at Huo Yuhao as if he were a monster. "Tell me, how did you do that?"
Huo Yuhao had just collapsed to the ground from exhaustion. Now, he struggled to sit up, scratched his head somewhat awkwardly, and then composed himself, saying, "This is the innate ability of my martial soul, called Ice Seal. Just like its name, the ability is very simple and unadorned, with no offensive power, it's just a simple seal."
"The difference in strength between us is too great, so it's impossible for it to work on you directly. It only seals the soul skill you're currently using to a certain extent, resulting in a weakening effect. As a price, I can't use my second martial soul for a month."
Xue Di walked to Huo Yuhao's side without saying a word, and picked him up in a princess carry while Huo Yuhao was still in a daze.
"Your second spirit is probably still not fully developed. Once it's complete, there shouldn't be so many restrictions. Before your spirit is fully developed, remember to use it sparingly, or better yet, not at all. You're leaving tomorrow, right?" Xue Di said to Huo Yuhao as she carried him toward the ice chamber. Perhaps because they were about to part ways, she seemed to be talking more than usual.
Huo Yuhao's face flushed slightly as he was lifted up by a stunningly beautiful woman. His soul, that of a grown man, was now subjected to a devastating blow.
The soft touch of her body, the delicate fragrance like orchids, and those caring words.
His heart was pounding wildly; Xue Di probably already felt it.
He composed himself slightly and replied in a serious tone, "Yes, I have to go. I don't know when I'll be able to come back next time."
The conversation ended abruptly amidst these subtle emotions and a touch of sadness, and both fell into silence.
The next day, after Huo Yuhao had rested enough, he formally bid farewell to Xue Di. The two parted ways at the edge of the core circle in the far north. Xue Di watched Huo Yuhao walk south until his figure disappeared into the wind and snow before she withdrew her gaze.
Then Xue Di looked to her side, and a silver figure gradually emerged. Although it was just a projection and not her true form, she simply stood there, and the elements of the entire world seemed to have found their master and submitted to her.
Xue Di guessed the true identity of this being, but she said nothing and had no intention of doing so. She was well aware of this being's purpose in visiting the far north, and now that Huo Yuhao had left, she figured he wouldn't stay any longer.
As for Huo Yuhao's safety? If this being truly wanted to harm him, she couldn't stop him, and she could intervene at any time. Having not attacked Huo Yuhao before, she probably wouldn't intend to now. She was simply unsure of what this being truly intended to do.
"I never imagined that the Lord of the Far North would one day become friends with a human. I am quite surprised," the silver figure said in an ethereal voice, initiating the conversation.
Xue Di replied coldly, "It seems you also have the idea of contacting Yu Hao? I wonder how much you actually know?"
The silver figure chuckled softly, "What you know, I know. What you don't know, I also know. Was it just a coincidence that the bug escaped?"
Xue Di was stunned; the implied meaning in those words was a bit too much!
Before Xue Di could respond, the silver figure continued, "I left a mark on that insect, and it shattered when she first ascended to the palace. That human has quite a few secrets, such as a fragment of his divine consciousness sleeping in his spiritual sea."
"Now you know why I'm paying attention to him, right? The entire fortune of Douluo Star is beginning to converge on him, and all those who become his adversaries will become the tide of history. Your far north is fortunate, but will the Star Dou Great Forest become that tide?"
"No, of course we won't do that. At the right time, I will personally orchestrate an encounter, not only to bind the fate of the Star Dou Great Forest to him, but also to forge the entire Soul Beast World into a community of shared destiny with him. That is my purpose."
The silver figure paid no attention to Xue Di's reaction. She walked forward slowly, creating a spatial rift. But she didn't leave immediately. Instead, she turned back and smiled as she said her final farewell to Xue Di.
"Do your best to build a good relationship with him. The future of soul beasts rests on this human. He is the ultimate answer given by the entire plane."
