Chapter 52. Divine Wrath
Chapter 52. Divine Wrath
"What...what did you do to these children?!"
His loud questioning, laced with unspeakable anger, made Daigo almost lose control.
Boss Kim's task for Daegu was very simple: conserve his energy and make a grand entrance at the most opportune moment. The stage was already set up, and the actor only needed to show his most dazzling side to the audience.
But... Daigo's anger was uncontrollable, and the actor roared as he rushed off the stage.
The space inside the witch's pumpkin house is distorted. Daigo and the other members of the Victory team did not set off in the same batch. When an adult steps into the pumpkin house, the scenery he sees is completely different from that of the children. Daigo has stepped into the end of his dream.
It was an amusement park, an amusement park built on a pale white beach.
The amusement park has a shiny carousel, a pirate ship that swings back and forth, and a Ferris wheel that towers into the clouds, but it is missing one thing.
--laughter.
The amusement park belongs to the children, but their laughter is missing here.
"Hey! What's wrong with you? Wake up!"
Daigo shook the child in front of him desperately. The child was pale and bloodless, with the only color on his head being the colorful hat. He looked like a plaster statue, even more human than the people in the posters.
The child's body temperature was frighteningly cold. Daigo felt as if he were shaking a block of ice. He shouted towards the pale, icy plain, but received no response.
"Is this... what happens to children whose dreams have been sucked out?"
Jin Yi's description of Kiranbo to Daegu remained on paper. What people hear and see, even the same thing, can evoke different feelings. The experience of watching pictures of the battlefield is completely different from personally stepping onto the bloody battlefield where limbs are flying.
The withering of a flower, the end of a dream—this is not an empty statement. Before us, a child who has lost his soul and dreams is left only with repetitive, mechanical actions.
Grab a handful of sand from the beach, the sand slips through your fingers, grab it again, it slips through your fingers again, grab it again, it slips through your fingers again, a meaningless cycle that never ends.
Perhaps realizing that provoking the child was pointless, Daigo stopped what he was doing, stood up, and subconsciously looked around.
His heart felt as if it had fallen into an icy wasteland, the cold penetrating almost to his very bones.
What an astonishing number!
The boundless sea, the endless pale sand, and countless pale children scattered like seashells on the white beach.
Without realizing it, Daigo clenched his fist.
A flame began to burn, rising from the fist and spreading to the depths of the heart; the vast ice field melted in an instant, and what followed was an endless rage—
Daigo's parents passed away a long time ago, and the love he received from his biological parents during his childhood only exists in his memories, yet it is touching enough.
Daigo's adoptive parents treated him as their own son, and from his childhood to adulthood, their affection for him was no different from that for his biological parents. It wasn't until he grew up that Daigo realized how difficult it was to treat someone else's child as his own.
It is precisely because they feel deeply loved that the pain is so excruciating when that love is lost.
and so--
When Kiranbo landed miserably on the beach, Daigo forgot all his instructions and plans. All he had to do now was throw out his burning fist!
--------
"Gurgle..."
His nose, which he had finally managed to straighten, was knocked crooked again, along with a mouthful of broken teeth. Kieranbo wanted to say something, but only blood and foam came out of his mouth.
After an unknown amount of time, the barrage of punches finally stopped. He was just mechanically swinging his fists, and even Daigo's well-trained body felt tired.
But he still glared at Kiranbo on the beach, his anger uncontrollable, and grabbed the witch by the collar.
"Ugh... Damn it! Tell me how to turn those children back to their original state!"
"Ugh... Let me rest... for a while..."
The witch's face was contorted as she lay on the beach, panting for a long time before spitting out broken teeth and squeezing out incoherent words.
"No...that's impossible...hehe."
"A child who has lost their dreams... is nothing but shattered pieces. What difference is there between them and an adult? Can an adult... become a child again...?"
"you!"
Daigo raised his fist and bent down, but at that moment, Kiran released his grip and threw out a handful of sand.
"Hmm!"
The sudden sandstorm disrupted Daigo's vision. He instinctively waved his hands, wary of Kiranbo's attack, but when he lowered his arms, the beach in front of him was empty, with only the endless tide washing over the pale sand.
They ran away?!
Daigo turned around mechanically, feeling that everything in front of him was not quite real, only the soreness in his shoulder reminded him that this was not a dream.
"Daigo! Where did you go?! Why did you leave your designated location?"
The sound of Boss Jin's voice came through the headset, pulling Daigo back to reality. He remained silent for a long time before slowly replying.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry."
Daigo stared at his fist, which was stained mostly with the witch's blood, but his skin was also cracked and a little painful.
Do you know what you did wrong?
"..."
He remained silent, but Daigo felt that even if he was punished by Boss Kim for this, he would not regret it.
Without waiting for Daigo's response, the person on the other end of the phone continued.
"Your mistake was that your punches weren't fast enough, and even less forceful!"
What came through the radio wasn't accusation, but something else entirely.
"Remember how you feel right now, Daigo. Sometimes anger isn't a bad thing. What's important is why you're angry. Do what you think is right."
Kim Yi took a deep breath. Like Daegu, Boss Kim entered the Pumpkin House and received the same treatment. Although he left quickly, how could he hide the pale beach and the abandoned children on it from his eyes?
Children from all over the world are scattered there. It hasn't been just one year, or even ten years. Since the birth of Halloween, there have probably been victims. To date, what is the terrifying number of victims?!
With each child lost, Shining Tiga loses a fraction of his power; the sacrifices here number far more than hundreds or thousands.
"Daigo, you're not the only one who's angry—"
Jin Yi walked on the witch's attic. From the other side of the wooden wall, he heard hurried footsteps, interspersed with a few cries of pain.
Jin Yi held his breath, clenched his fist, and threw a punch with all his might!
With a crackling sound, the wall was pierced through like tofu. The witch's footsteps came to an abrupt halt. From the other side of the wall, Jin Yi's hand had already locked onto Kirambo's throat!
