Chapter 88 Wrong Medicine Received
Chapter 88 Wrong Medicine Received
Am I dead?
Danitz's eyelids fluttered a few times, and the yellowish ceiling appeared in his blurry vision. He subconsciously moved his fingers, and was immediately jolted awake by the pain all over his body.
"I'm still alive..." he muttered in a hoarse voice.
"Meow." A meow caught Danitz's attention.
"Awake?" A familiar voice came from beside me.
He turned his head with difficulty and saw Lorne sitting cross-legged in a chair, fiddling with an empty bottle. The orange cat was nestled in his lap, looking at him curiously.
"That hurts." Danitz rubbed his forehead. "Where...am I?"
He tried to prop himself up, but was unable to because of the pain.
"A small hotel, the most inconspicuous kind." Lorne stood up, poured a glass of water, and handed it to Danitz.
"It's not easy to book a room with someone covered in injuries."
To avoid being hunted by the pirates, Lorne dared not take Danitz to a proper clinic and could only carry him to this small hotel in a remote neighborhood.
God knows how nervous Lorne was when he brought Danitz into that little hotel.
First, Danitz was a notorious pirate whose identity should not be exposed, and second, Lorne did not have any valid identification documents.
However, perhaps because Lorne looked exactly like a Rune, the local owner didn't say much and respectfully arranged a room for him.
Lorne was surprised by the obsequious manner; he had inexplicably become a "superior person."
"Tsk..."
As Danitz took the water glass, he felt his body being pulled slightly. He looked down and found that the bandages on his body looked like they had been haphazardly wrapped by an octopus, with some places tied in tight knots and others so loose that they were about to fall apart.
"Damn it, how did you bandage this? It's a mess."
"I'm already being kind enough to snatch you back from the jaws of death," Lorne rolled his eyes. "I risked everything to buy those bandages."
"You're lucky. If I hadn't happened to buy a few bottles of healing potion from the party, you'd probably be done for." Lorne examined the empty bottle in his hand.
Laki meowed at the opportune moment, as if to confirm her owner's words.
"Medicine?"
Danitz looked down at the wounds and found that the most serious penetrating wound had already scabbed over, but the bandaging technique was appallingly crude. He couldn't help but mutter again, "Did you bandage this with your eyes closed?"
Lorne shrugged and didn't say anything more.
Seeing Danitz in such a sorry state, he realized that today's events were not arranged by Danitz, but most likely by the accomplices of the pirates who had been killed earlier seeking revenge.
Of course, if Danitz deliberately put himself in this state to lower his guard, then Lorne would have no choice but to admit defeat.
"Are those pirates' accomplices coming for revenge?" Lorne asked, looking at Danitz who was pulling at his bandages.
"Yes." Danitz nodded. "It's 'Iron' and his men."
Steel… Lorne recalled, “The second mate of ‘Blood Admiral’?”
"That's right, it's that bastard!"
Danitz then began to recount how he was ambushed by "Iron" and his escape until he met Lorne.
"The middleman was introduced by old Lynn."
"I went to the contact point to find him today, but I didn't expect to be ambushed by 'Steel'."
"We need to inform the captain of this immediately, otherwise..."
"Wait a minute," Lorne interrupted.
"Where's my share?" he asked, referring to the bounty on the three pirates.
Uh……
Danitz's lips twitched slightly, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"Then... naturally, they're gone too."
"Hey! Didn't you say it would be fine to leave it to you?" Lorne's tone turned dangerous.
"Calm down! This isn't the time for infighting!" Danitz hurriedly waved his hand. "We should...uh...unite!"
Hearing the word "unity" from the pirates left Lorne somewhat speechless, but he knew now was not the time to complain, so he could only sigh and acquiesce to what they said.
Lorne then told him about his encounter with the extraordinary being named Roykin at the party, wanting to hear his opinion.
"Roy King?" Danitz pondered for a moment, then shook his head. "I've never heard of that name."
"If you want to learn about occult knowledge, you can come to our Golden Dream. Even if you don't join us, we can still give you a lesson."
"Is it reliable?" Lorne was skeptical about learning on a pirate ship.
"Bullshit, otherwise where do you think my knowledge of mysticism came from?" Danitz said angrily when he saw that Lorne didn't believe him.
"That's true." Lorne nodded reluctantly, "But, can you make that decision?"
Upon hearing this, Danitz's expression froze, and he forced a smile:
"I am the boatswain, after all. I can make decisions on this matter."
Seeing his guilty look, Lorne immediately understood—this guy probably wanted to find a bodyguard to escort him back to the ship.
Oh well, what can I do? We're in the same boat... Lorne rubbed his temples, trying to put his annoyance behind him.
A pirate with a weakness is more believable than someone of unknown origin who comes along claiming it's "fate" and wants to be your teacher.
"I don't feel very safe in this hotel. If you can leave, let's get out of here quickly." Lorne lowered his head and pondered the current situation.
Danitz gritted his teeth and tried to get up, but the pain made him break out in a cold sweat: "No...the wound..."
"There's another bottle of medicine." Lorne took a glass bottle out of his bag and tossed it over.
"It tastes awful." Danitz frowned as he drank the potion.
"Good medicine tastes bitter, don't you understand?"
After a moment, Danitz spoke in a trembling voice, "Something feels off to me."
"It's so hot!"
Hot? ...Lorne looked up and saw that Danitz's face was turning red at a visible speed, and fine beads of sweat were seeping from his forehead.
"Water...give me some more water..." Danitz ripped open his collar, his breathing becoming heavy. He stared unfocusedly at the ceiling, his Adam's apple bobbing.
Could it be...? Lorne thought of a possibility and quickly checked the potion that had just been given to him.
Oops!
They gave him the wrong medicine. Danitz drank an aphrodisiac instead of healing medicine, which means he's now...
Lorne felt a chill run down his spine and quickly pulled out "Phantom" from his pocket.
"What are you doing? Calm down."
Danitz's breathing became more and more rapid, and he suddenly rushed forward. Lorne hurriedly raised his gun, trying to scare him away.
The good news was that Danitz stopped in front of Lorne without taking any further steps; the bad news was that he stared blankly at the pistol in Lorne's hand, a fascinated smile on his face.
Oh no! "Phantom" has a bewitching effect.
Taking advantage of Lorne's momentary distraction, Danitz snatched "Phantom" with astonishing speed.
"Hey, that's my gun! What are you doing?!"
"No, don't take your pants off!"
