No matter what others say, Natsu remains steadfast in his belief that the egg is a fire dragon's egg. Perhaps it wasn't laid by Igneel, but it could be laid by another fire dragon!
"But how do I hatch this egg?"
Natsu looked at everyone expectantly, hoping someone could give him some advice.
"I think it should be like a mother hen incubating eggs."
Lisanna raised her hand and earnestly presented her idea.
"A mother hen incubating eggs?"
Natsu looked at the "dragon egg" that was half his height and fell into deep thought. How was he supposed to hatch it?
Natsu tried to straddle the "dragon egg," but Moen grabbed him by the collar and dragged him aside, looking speechless.
"Are you really not afraid of breaking it?"
Moen quipped that even if it were a real "dragon egg," Natsu's antics might cause it to die in the womb.
"The magical energy emanating from this egg is extremely strong; there's no doubt that a magical creature is being nurtured inside."
Moen patted the egg. In his perception, the life growing inside was already quite mature, and the magic power had been condensed quite solidly.
"If I'm not mistaken, the creatures inside should hatch soon."
Moen made a judgment: if it were up to him, there was no need to use any extra methods to incubate the egg; he could just wait, and the egg would mature on its own.
"Using fire? Is that really okay?"
"Of course! Eggs need a very high temperature to hatch! The mother hen incubates the eggs to raise that temperature!"
"Let's give it a try! This is my specialty!"
Moen had barely made his judgment when the other kids came up with a new idea. Mirajane, with a mischievous grin, came up with a terrible idea, and Natsu was actually going to give it a try.
"No. Using magical flames to cook this egg? How is this any different from my initial suggestion to roast and eat it? So you're still going to eat the egg?"
Seeing Natsu's eager expression and the flames already rising from his mouth, Moen protected the egg and made a sarcastic remark.
It's really a reversal of the natural order; now Natsu is the one who has to burn the egg, while Moen is the one taking charge of protecting it.
"Is it not allowed?"
Natsu looked regretful. He genuinely wanted to speed up the hatching of the egg. In the past year, apart from another Dragon Slayer joining, this was the closest he had ever come to news of dragons!
"Of course not!"
Moen glared at Mirajane, who had made the suggestion, while Mirajane stuck out her tongue sheepishly. She hadn't expected Natsu to believe it so easily.
"Is there any magic that can quickly mature this thing?"
With Moen's dissuasion, Natsu abandoned his idea of heating the egg with flames. He grinned and looked at Moen expectantly, then had a new idea: if he could use magic to ripen the egg directly, that would be perfect!
"Natsu, that's impossible. That would be blasphemy against life. Life is born of love, and it's wrong to interfere with life with any kind of magic. We must have reverence for life."
Looking at Natsu, Moen solemnly instructed him, using words that Grandpa Makarov had taught him, which he was now passing on to future generations.
Gray, Cana, Levy, Elfman, Lisanna, Mirajane, and Erza all nodded seriously upon hearing this, while Natsu stood there dumbfounded.
"What are you saying, Moen? I don't understand at all."
Natsu, looking rather silly, spoke up in a very casual manner.
"Bang!"
Before Moen, whose expression was already betraying him, could say anything more, Erza, standing to the side, had already delivered a powerful punch.
"Wow!"
Natsu fell to the ground, seeing stars.
"What Moen means is that you have to hatch it through your own efforts, naturally, rather than trying to use magical power."
Erza spoke up, saying that Natsu had only been in civilized society for a year and was still gradually building his understanding of many things.
Therefore, this child's understanding of many things is indeed different from that of normal people. This does not mean that Natsu is stupid, but that his perceptions are indeed quite different from those of normal people.
"All you do all day is cause destruction. This time, it's your turn to hatch this egg yourself and truly experience the meaning of life!"
Erza spoke righteously, lecturing Natsu. Despite her young age, she already had the air of a "headmaster," making Moen feel as if he were seeing her grown-up self.
"If I'll incubate it myself, then I'll incubate it myself."
Natsu pouted, looking utterly pathetic. Moen and Erza had him completely suppressed, leaving him barely daring to breathe.
Seeing this scene now, and thinking about how Natsu in the future might suddenly become "ambitious" when facing little Moen, it's not surprising. He must have had the same thought when he saw little Erza. Bullying the weak is also a form of revenge!
"You don't have to incubate it yourself. Everyone can help and witness the birth of this new life together, which is also a great experience."
Moen stopped Erza from violently suppressing Natsu. He felt that hatching a monster egg together would be a great experience, at least more meaningful than roasting and eating an egg together. This was something that everyone would remember for a long time.
"Great! Let's all hatch the eggs together!"
The children cheered; they were all quite curious about the strange egg.
"It's better to bake it."
Mirajane grumbled, saying she wasn't really interested in hatching eggs. She was currently considering moving out of the girls' dormitory and building a home for Lisanna and Elfman.
"You guys have fun, I still need to pick up my commission."
Mirajane spoke, and then she was about to leave. Although she had only been in the guild for a short time, Mirajane had already been allowed to go out and take on commissions. Her strength had indeed been recognized. Lisanna and Elfman, on the other hand, were not allowed to do so yet.
"Mira, why don't you spend a day playing with everyone?"
Moen looked at Mirajane and tried to persuade her to stay. Mirajane, wearing a cropped top, blue shorts, and black knee-high boots, looked very youthful and beautiful. Apart from her chest being a little too tight against her back, she had no other problems.
"No, thank you."
When Moen tried to persuade her to stay, Mirajane hesitated for a moment, but in the end she resolutely refused; she had no time to enjoy happiness.
Mirajane felt a heavy burden on her shoulders. She couldn't let the guild support her family of three forever; she would feel uneasy if they did. So she had to quickly take on the responsibility of supporting her family and also take on the share for her younger brother and sister.
Seeing Mirajane insist on leaving, Moen smiled helplessly. This child was too burdened with worries. She was the kind of person whose emotions would affect her deeply and who was more easily swayed by her feelings than the average person.
