Chapter 132 The Shadow of Thanos
Chapter 132 The Shadow of Thanos
Titan.
Once one of the most prosperous planets in the universe, now only ruins remain.
The collapsed building left a huge silhouette on the ground, the shattered dome was scattered all over the ground, the air was filled with the smell of dust that had accumulated over the years, the sky was dark red, and the sun shone down through the remaining atmosphere, making everything red.
After landing, Wanda braced herself against the rubble with one hand to steady herself. Her senses spread across the land, and there were no living things within a radius of several hundred kilometers. Strictly speaking, there were no intelligent life forms, except for a few low-level microorganisms that were barely surviving deep underground.
"This is Titan."
The Holy Lord did not respond. His gaze passed over the ruins and landed on an unusual area near the northern horizon.
Wanda understood the divine gaze, and crimson energy surged from her palms, the patterns of chaotic magic spreading along the ground, seeping into the cracks in the rubble and penetrating the earth's surface.
The realm of chaos.
Wanda learned this from the ancient books given to her by the Holy Lord. It is completely different from the orthodox magic system. It does not emphasize symmetry or require geometric precision. Its core is the word "chaos". The fewer rules the better, and the more variables the stronger.
The Holy Lord stood with his hands behind his back, waiting patiently.
It is 12 light-years away from Titan.
On the main bridge of the Temple II, the holographic screen switched images three times.
The first image displayed was an orbital scan of Titan, with two heat sources suddenly appearing on the surface. The second was an optically enhanced image showing two figures standing on a ruined hill, one with black hair and the other with red hair. The third image zoomed in to facial recognition level.
General Corvus Glaive stood in front of the console, glancing towards the throne.
Thanos sat on that stone chair.
His left hand was clad in the Infinity Gauntlet, with only one gem embedded in it at the moment—the Power Stone, its purple light flickering dimly.
Thanos's fingers tightened slightly on the armrest of the stone chair as he watched the scene. The movement was so subtle that Corvus Glaive wasn't even sure if he had seen it correctly. But the second movement that followed was obvious: the Power Stone lit up.
Purple energy surged upwards along the patterns on the glove and into Thanos's forearm.
This was the first time in thousands of years that Corvus Glaive had seen Thanos actively use the Infinity Stones to stabilize his condition.
"Owner?"
"I know who he is," Thanos said in a low voice.
General Corvus Glaive awaits further developments.
Thanos didn't finish his sentence. There were some things he couldn't describe in words. The memories of that timeline were incomplete, more like a nightmare he had experienced. After waking up, he only remembered fragments. He remembered that he had fought back with all his might but was still easily suppressed by that person. In front of him, he was just a helpless child.
"Ebony throat".
"Here." A tall, thin figure emerged from the shadows, Ebony Maw with his hands tucked into his sleeves, his expression calm.
"Take your advance team down and take a look," Thanos said.
"A test?"
"Find out his background."
Ebony Maw didn't move. He cautiously scanned the scene on the screen. The black-haired man stood motionless in the middle of the ruins, while the red-haired woman around him was arranging something.
"Bring the Dark Raven Matrix," Thanos added.
The Dark Raven Matrix is Thanos's highest-level reconnaissance system, featuring adaptive stealth, quantum-encrypted communication, and the ability to operate independently for over 48 hours in extreme environments.
Ebony Throat bowed slightly and turned to walk towards the hangar.
As Corvus Glaive passed by, he asked in a low voice, "Should I follow?"
"No need." Ebony didn't even reply.
Corvus Glaive watched his figure disappear at the end of the corridor, then glanced back at Thanos.
Thanos's finger was still on the armrest, and the purple light of the Power Stone had not faded.
The surface of Titan.
The Holy Lord could feel those gazes.
At least seventeen different devices were scanning him, some in high orbit and some hidden in the rubble on the ground. Thanos had laid out this reconnaissance network in advance.
"Someone is watching," Wanda said.
Shendu twitched the corner of his mouth towards the void, his expression unreadable, but Wanda, who had followed Shendu for so long, understood his meaning.
Rat Talisman.
The Holy Lord's spiritual power, imbued with spiritual blessing, spread out and landed on the surrounding rubble. The stones trembled at first, then began to move—not by physical force, but by their own accord.
Aggregate of crushed stones.
Small pebbles are first pieced together to form the skeleton, large slabs of rock are attached to form the scales, gravel is used to fill the gaps, and deep underground ore is pulled up to serve as the spine. The whole process takes no more than four seconds.
Six stone dragons.
Each one is over twenty meters long, with a stone body and no eyes; the Holy Lord's spiritual power is their senses.
The nearest stone dragon turned its head and locked onto something that looked no different from an ordinary rock three kilometers away. It was Thanos's ground reconnaissance aircraft, well disguised, with its spectral cloaking reaching level seven.
The stone dragon opened its mouth, but there was no flame inside. With one bite, it crushed the reconnaissance plane, leaving hardly any wreckage. The metal shell was ground into dust in the stone dragon's mouth.
The remaining five stone dragons dispersed.
Of the seventeen signal sources, only three remained in high orbit after eleven seconds; all signals on the ground and in low altitudes were cleared.
The three in high orbit didn't last long either; a stone dragon launched itself out and crashed into and destroyed the rest.
Wanda's chaotic domain was laid out as the stone dragon swept away the stones. Within a radius of ten miles, all the red patterns on the ground were activated, and an invisible barrier rose up, with frequency shielding, spatial anchoring, and energy interference superimposed in three layers.
"It's over." Wanda stopped.
The Holy Lord nodded, still clutching the Cosmic Cube in his right hand. The blue cube emitted a soft light, and the Holy Lord held it up in front of him.
There was no absorption, no integration; it was just watching.
The Space Stone contains a complete set of spatial laws. The Infinity Stones are not tools; they are the embodiment of the rules of the universe. Holding one is like holding the root of a rule.
The Holy Lord flipped the Rubik's Cube over.
The frequency of the blue light changed, and the space within a radius of fifty meters trembled slightly for a moment.
Wanda felt the tremor and took a step back. The direct contact between chaotic magic and spatial laws would produce a repulsive reaction.
"When does the master plan to use it?"
"No rush." The Holy Lord casually placed the Rubik's Cube into his storage space.
A vanguard spacecraft cut into the atmospheric debris from high altitude. The spacecraft's hull was dark gray, with a Chitauri-style design, and was equipped with additional communication antennas and shield modules.
The cabin door opened, and Ebony Maw stepped out first.
His feet did not touch the ground, hovering about three meters above the ground, his hands still tucked into his sleeves, followed by two squads of Chitauri soldiers, twelve men each, a standard advance force.
Ebony Maw's gaze fell on the Holy Lord.
He had prepared a set of words, starting with the ownership of Titan, then Thanos's grand ambitions, and finally the possibility of peaceful coexistence. He had used this set of words no less than a hundred times, and the effect had always been good. His mental abilities could add hints to every word.
A second before he opened his mouth, the Holy Lord raised a finger.
Ebony Maw's prepared words were all stuck in his throat. It wasn't that he didn't want to speak, but his body reacted in a way that he hadn't expected. He stopped, and everyone else stopped.
