Chapter 90 Two Days Early
Chapter 90 Two Days Early
Wanda was taking a walk alone in the gardens of the Golden Palace.
The garden to the east of the Golden Palace is a greenhouse maintained by magic. Wanda stopped by the Jade Fountain, her fingers gently tracing the surface of the water. Chaotic magic appeared between her fingers, creating ripples on the water.
"This power is beautiful." Loki's voice came from behind her. Wanda didn't turn around but continued to watch the ripples in the water.
"What are you doing here?" Wanda asked coldly.
Loki walked over to her and sat down by the fountain, his dark eyes fixed on her: "I just wanted to talk to you about the Holy Lord."
Wanda stopped what she was doing with her fingers, not because of Loki's words, but because she sensed the presence of Shendu on Loki. This man had just met Shendu, and Shendu had left a mark on him.
"What are you trying to say?"
Seeing Wanda's tone change, Loki's own tone softened as well: "I want to ask you, do you really understand him? I can see you're willing to do anything for him, even sacrifice your life, but what about him? Does he care about you?"
Wanda turned her head, chaotic magic burning in her eyes: "You don't understand me, and you don't understand him either."
Loki shrugged. "Maybe, but I've seen too much loyalty. Absolute loyalty to one person often ends in failure. I just don't want to see you get hurt."
Wanda's voice turned cold: "Hypocrite, you're trying to create a rift between me and my master."
Loki's smile froze as he noticed Wanda's earlier address of the Holy Lord as "Master."
Wanda turned to face Loki, and chaos magic erupted from her body, coalescing in the air into a scarlet chain that bound Loki's limbs.
Loki's expression changed. He tried to break free but found that his strength was useless against the power of chaos.
"You..." Loki's eyes widened.
"You think you can sow discord between me and my master?" Wanda's voice held a hint of sarcasm. "You think your sweet words can sway my loyalty?"
Wanda approached Loki, her chaotic magic scorching his entire body: "God of Mischief, let me tell you something. The Holy Lord is my master, the path I chose, and the one I willingly follow. My master said I will always stand by his side."
Loki wanted to say something, but Wanda's finger was already pressed on his forehead. Chaos magic invaded Loki's consciousness, and Loki's memories appeared before Wanda's eyes without any concealment.
Wanda closed her eyes and saw a blue baby lying on the cold floor of the golden palace, a tall, one-eyed man picking up the baby...
Wanda opened her eyes and loosened her fingers. Loki, pale-faced, staggered back, staring at Wanda with undisguised fear in his eyes.
"What did you do!"
Wanda calmly said, "I only saw some of your memories: a descendant of the frost giants, an orphan adopted by Odin. Is that why you crave the throne? To prove you deserve a position that doesn't belong to you?"
Loki opened his mouth but said nothing.
Wanda turned and walked out of the garden: "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Your secret is worthless to me. My master already knows about it. But remember, don't try to sow discord between me and my master again. Next time, I won't just be looking around."
Loki stood there watching Wanda's figure disappear through the garden gate.
Loki's hands trembled uncontrollably, the anger of being seen through humiliating him: "Lord, the people around you are quite interesting."
Late the next night, the Holy Lord stood alone on the terrace of the Golden Palace.
Loki leaned against the railing, still fiddling with the dagger in his hand, looking like he had been waiting for quite some time.
"You've come," Loki said calmly. "I thought you wouldn't come again."
The Holy Lord walked to his side: "I never break my word. On the contrary, you, knowing that Asgard would not know that I was going to do something to you, still came."
The Holy Lord looked at Loki, whose face was grim, and said, "So, you, son of the Frost Giants, son of Laufey, and rightful heir to Jotunheim, what other tricks do you have up your sleeve?"
Loki frowned. "Wanda told you? She said she wouldn't tell anyone."
The Holy Lord looked at the distant moon: "She didn't tell me, but I know everything about you, including that so-called Father of the Gods."
Loki gripped his dagger tightly and took a deep breath: "What are you going to do?"
The Holy Lord said calmly, "It's very simple. I want to make a deal with you. You help me obtain the magical fragments from Odin's Treasury, and I will help you sit on the throne of Asgard."
"What did you say?" Loki could hardly believe what he had just heard.
The Holy Lord continued, "I know you crave the throne, but you also know that Odin will never give it to you. In his eyes, only Thor is worthy of that position. But I am different; I can help you."
Loki's pupils shrank: "You can do it?"
The Holy Lord said calmly, "It's very simple. The key is whether you are willing to cooperate with me."
Loki remained silent for a long time before finally extending his hand: "Deal."
The countdown to the celestial conjunction has reached its third day.
Beneath the observatory's crystal dome, a group of Asgard's leading scholars gathered, debating a massive star map. The map marked the current positions of the Nine Realms and their future trajectories.
The Holy Lord stood before the star map with his hands behind his back, his golden vertical pupils staring at the points of light, but he showed no interest, after all, he already knew the result.
"The Nine Realms are accelerating," an old man with a full head of white hair said, pointing to the points of light on the star map. "At this rate, the celestial bodies will converge two days earlier than expected."
Another scholar shook his head, refuting his conclusion: "Impossible. Our calculations are based on data from thousands of years ago; it's impossible for us to be wrong."
"Data is static, but individual celestial bodies are dynamic."
"Are you questioning the science of Asgard?"
"That's enough!"
Odin's voice came from the doorway, and everyone turned to look at the Allfather standing at the entrance of the observatory, the Spear of Eternity shining brightly in his hand, with Frigga standing calmly behind him.
Thor, Loki, and Wanda followed behind. The atmosphere among the three was somewhat subtle. Thor and Loki always kept a distance from each other, while Wanda's gaze remained fixed on Shendu.
"Report the situation." Odin walked to the star map and scanned the points of light with his single eye.
The white-haired old man stepped forward and bowed: "Father of the Gods, according to the latest observation data, the celestial convergence time will be two days earlier, and the orbits of the Nine Realms are accelerating. We cannot determine the reason."
"Uncertain?" Odin's tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction.
The scholar wiped the sweat from his brow: "An external force is interfering with the operation of the Nine Realms. We have detected an unknown power fluctuation that comes from outside the World Tree and is pushing the Nine Realms to move along the same line."
