Chapter 236: The Void's "Fusion Probe"
Chapter 236: The Void's "Fusion Probe"
"Its power is breaking through the critical point!" the observer shouted. "If it fully awakens, the entire rift region will be swallowed up!"
"Then what are we waiting for!" Kane ignited flames in his hands and charged towards the core of the Void Avatar. "Let's destroy it!"
Sophia didn't say much, but conjured a huge ice blade in her hand and launched an attack right after Kane.
The Observer, Lysa, and the Arbiter also join the battle; they must defeat the Void Avatar before it fully awakens.
The darkness deep within the rift slowly rotated, and the core of the Void Avatar became increasingly clear. It was a massive vortex of energy interwoven with rules and nothingness, its central light flickering as if it were breathing. The Observer, Lessa, the Arbiter, Sophia, and Kane stood before the vortex, all their attention focused on this ultimate threat to the universe.
However, just as they were preparing to launch the next attack, the voice of the Void Avatar suddenly rang out.
"Why fight?" The voice was deep yet penetrating, as if directly invading the depths of the guardians' consciousness. "Rules and nothingness are one. Your struggles are meaningless. Accept the fusion, and you will no longer suffer."
The sound, like an invisible wave, penetrated deep into everyone's hearts. The guardians trembled slightly, and then, waves of hallucinations began to emerge. Before them was no longer the darkness of the rift, but the deepest, most hidden fears and contradictions within each of their own hearts.
The Arbiter felt himself being pulled back to a moment in the past. It was a battle he would never forget—his homeland was being corrupted by nothingness, and his army was annihilated.
"You're a loser." A muffled voice echoed in his ear, filled with mockery and contempt. "You can't save them, and you can't save yourself."
He watched his comrades' faces vanish into nothingness, one by one. No matter how fast he swung his twin blades, he couldn't withstand the endless tentacles. His heart felt as if it had been pierced, and a profound sense of powerlessness completely crushed him.
"Enough!" the Arbiter roared, his twin blades blazing with flames as he tried to shatter the illusion. But the illusion clung to him like a tangible entity, trapping him in that moment of defeat.
In Lysa's hallucination, she found herself in a silent wasteland. There were no cracks, no battles, only endless emptiness. She saw herself raising a spear, guarding a world that had already shattered.
"Why persist?" the voice of nothingness whispered in her ear. "You have lost everything, your fight is meaningless. Embrace nothingness, and you will find true liberation."
Her hands trembled slightly as images of her comrades-in-arms, who had fought alongside her, appeared before her eyes, falling one by one behind her. The loneliness and pain felt like a boulder pressing on her chest.
"I can't stop." She gritted her teeth, trying to fight the hallucinations, but the empty whispers grew stronger.
Sophia's hallucinations take her back to where she began as the guardian of the extreme cold dimension. In that frigid world, she chooses indifference, abandoning all emotions, solely to become stronger.
"Indifference makes you strong, but it also makes you lonely." The voice of the avatar of nothingness was like a cold blade, cutting into her heart. "Accept nothingness, and you will no longer be lonely. The existence of rules is nothing more than to make you suffer."
A flicker of doubt crossed Sofia's eyes, and her hands clenched slightly, yet she could not shake off the deep-seated suspicion within her.
In Kane's hallucination, his body was engulfed by endless flames. These flames did not originate from his own power, but from the erosion of nothingness. He saw himself struggling in the flames, ultimately turning into a burning skeleton.
"Power insatiable, yet you will never be satisfied," the avatar of nothingness said seductively. "Accept the fusion, and you will possess eternal power, no longer tormented by it."
Kane laughed wildly, "Don't even think about making me submit!" But a hint of fear lingered in his laughter. His thirst for power was his most inescapable weakness.
The observer's hallucinations differed from the others. He witnessed the collapse of the star chart, all the rules of the universe being swallowed by nothingness. He stood atop a pitch-black cosmic ruin, the star chart scepter in his hand now reduced to ashes.
"You cannot save the universe." The voice of the avatar of nothingness was cold. "The existence of rules will only cause greater division. Accept nothingness, and you will be free from this heavy responsibility."
The observer's gaze flickered slightly. He had always shouldered the will of the universe's rules, and the weight of it all had long since become unbearable.
“Perhaps… the existence of nothingness does have meaning,” he murmured, but then gripped the Star Chart Scepter tightly. “But this is absolutely not a reason to destroy the universe.”
Just as everyone was lost in the illusion, the observer keenly sensed a faint energy fluctuation. He closed his eyes and used the power of the star chart to capture this fluctuation. It was a periodic energy change; whenever the fluctuation reached its lowest point, the core of the avatar of nothingness would briefly reveal a flaw.
"I understand!" the observer shouted, as the Star Chart Scepter emitted a brilliant blue light, pulling him back to reality from his illusion.
He looked around and found that the others were still struggling in their hallucinations. He immediately used the power of the star chart to awaken Lysa, the Arbiter, Sophia, and Kane one by one.
"Don't believe its lies!" the observer shouted. "It's exploiting our weaknesses, trying to wear down our fighting spirit!"
Lysa recovered first, her spear gleaming with blinding golden light as she pierced the phantom of the ethereal tentacles, finally dispelling the illusion. The Arbiter then regained his senses, roaring as he swung his twin blades, shattering the surrounding illusions completely.
Sofia and Kane were a little slower, but with the help of the observers, they also managed to break free from the hallucination. They looked at each other, clearly still shaken by the experience.
The observer pointed the Star Chart Scepter at the core of the Void Avatar: "Listen! Its core fluctuates periodically, and whenever the fluctuation reaches its lowest point, that's the best time for us to launch an attack!"
“Periodic fluctuations?” Lessa frowned, but quickly nodded. “I understand. We must seize this opportunity!”
Sophia calmly analyzed, "The power of the Void Avatar is constantly recovering. Our attacks must be precise, or they will be absorbed by it."
“Then let’s join forces.” Kane grinned wildly. “This time, we can’t afford to fail again.”
Guided by the observers, the guardians began to adjust their battle strategy. Their objective shifted from depleting the power of the Void Avatar to precisely striking its core. Each person suppressed their inner fear, concentrating all their strength on the impending counterattack.
