Chapter 202: The Summoning of the Temple of Origin
Chapter 202: The Summoning of the Temple of Origin
Isaac frowned slightly: "Examine us? We haven't disrupted the order of the universe; rather, we've given it new life. We've granted every living being the right to choose for themselves—isn't that the most fundamental law of the universe?"
The guardian of the universe had a profound gaze, seemingly able to see through everything about Isaac: "Your actions are not meaningless, however, you have never considered the limits of freedom. Freedom brings new life, but also new challenges. Your choices, while giving the universe a new life, have also torn apart the boundaries of the universe's laws. Now, the fundamental structure of the universe is changing because of your actions."
"Change?" Isaac's voice deepened. "Is this change in power irreparable?"
The guardian remained silent for a moment before finally speaking: "The order of the universe is maintained by laws that have lasted for billions of years. While your freedom has brought light to the universe, it has also torn apart this order. Now, this power from the depths of the universe is reviving, and it will determine the true fate of the new order you have established."
During the process of balancing the Fate Network, Isaac faced a challenge from the Lord of the Abyss and temporarily sealed the Chaos Rift. However, he gradually sensed that the hidden dangers of the cosmic rules had not been eliminated, and a deeper calling emanated from the edge of the Fate Network. Mira keenly perceived that the calling originated from the "Hall of Roots," a legendary place that governs the fundamental laws of the universe.
Isaac stood at the center of the network of fate, his core of rules projecting a pale golden light that merged with the pulse of the entire network. Yet, at this moment, he felt an invisible pull, as if the entire universe was whispering. This summoning not only made his soul tremble slightly but also caused Mira beside him to frown.
"What is that?" Mira asked softly, her voice tinged with unease.
“The call of the Temple of Origin,” Isaac murmured, his gaze fixed on the distance, on a void where pure white and pitch black intertwined. His tone carried an unprecedented solemnity, “Perhaps this is fate telling me that the real trial has just begun.”
Mira nodded, her wise eyes shining with determination: "Whatever the call, we must face it. The balance between rules and freedom has always been your belief, and the Temple of the Roots may be the place to test that belief."
Isaac paused for a moment, then reached out and summoned the "Blade of Rules," a longsword radiating golden light that symbolized his control over the rules of the universe. He gently grasped the hilt and whispered, "Let's go, whatever awaits there."
The Temple of Origin, located deep within the web of fate, is one of the oldest legends in the universe. It is said to govern the origin of all rules and the ultimate convergence point of all free choices. When Isaac and Mira crossed the void rift and entered that realm, the sight before them took their breath away.
This place was neither darkness nor light, but pure chaos. Indescribable energy fluctuations permeated the air, like fragments of time and space silently intertwining. A majestic palace floated within the chaos, its surface covered with ancient runes that emitted a faint silver-blue light, as if recounting the mysteries of the universe's birth.
“This is the Temple of Origin,” Isaac said softly, a hint of awe in his voice. “The origin of all rules.”
Mira followed closely behind, her gaze sweeping over the runes, and said in a low voice, "But I sense that this is not just the starting point of the rules; there seems to be other powers hidden here..."
Isaac did not answer. He strode forward, each step feeling like the pulse of the universe, each touch resonating with the harmony of order and freedom. However, just as they approached the entrance to the hall, a deep and majestic voice echoed from its depths.
"Isaac, you've finally arrived."
The voice carried an irresistible power, as if emanating from the depths of time. As the voice faded, the runes in the center of the hall began to flicker, and a massive halo appeared out of thin air. Countless symbols were engraved on the halo, each representing a fragment of a time and destiny.
"Who are you?" Isaac gripped the Blade of Rules, his gaze piercing.
"I am the Wheel of Time," a majestic voice echoed from within the halo, "the embodiment of the fundamental laws of the universe. Your pursuit of freedom and order has caused cosmic turmoil. Today, you must prove your beliefs here, or... accept the judgment of the fundamental laws."
Isaac frowned: “I have never feared any judgment. If this is a trial fate has placed upon me, I will accept it and show you how rules and freedom can coexist.”
The Wheel of Time turned gently, and the surrounding space began to distort. Fragments of time materialized, forming the entrance to the Three Trials. It coldly declared: "First Trial: Revisiting the regrets of the past. Second Trial: Confronting the fragmentation of the soul. Third Trial: Creating new life. Isaac, your choice will determine the future of the universe."
Isaac and Mira were transported to an unfamiliar scene. It was a planet on the verge of destruction, its ground riddled with cracks, and its sky covered in blood-red clouds. Isaac's power of rules seemed to be restricted here, and before him stood a group of familiar yet unfamiliar figures.
"Isaac, why did you abandon us?" a voice rang out. It was a young warrior, his eyes filled with disappointment.
Isaac froze. It was one of his former followers, fallen in the battle against the Fate Network. He wanted to explain, but more voices rose up—those who had sacrificed themselves because of his choices, their figures haunting him like phantoms.
Mira tried to approach Isaac, but found herself separated by an invisible force. She could only watch Isaac from afar and whisper, "Isaac, this is a trial! Don't be bound by the past; your choices have never been wrong!"
Isaac closed his eyes, his Blade of Rules trembling slightly. He took a deep breath and whispered, "The regrets of the past will not disappear, but I cannot let them become chains that hinder the future." He raised the Blade of Rules, cleaving through the illusions, and the departed souls vanished as starlight.
When the illusion dissipated, Isaac found himself still standing on that dying planet, with a faint light of life flickering in the distance. Mira finally broke through the barrier and came to his side.
“This is the answer to the first trial,” Mira said softly. “You must face it, not run from it.”
Isaac nodded, his gaze resolute: "The regrets of the past are in the past. Now it's time to confront the split in our souls."
