Chapter 61: The Toad Causes Conflict, the Malfoy Trio!
Chapter 61: The Toad Causes Conflict, the Malfoy Trio!
In the corridor of the carriage adjacent to where Dali and the others were.
A haughty, pale-faced boy with a full head of blond hair slicked back, dressed like a nobleman, was leading two short, chubby followers as he walked briskly in.
If they continue in their current direction, they will soon meet Dudley and his group, who are out searching for the toad Raef.
"Crawb, Goyle, hurry up! Harry Potter is in the next carriage! I can't wait to be his friend!"
The blond boy at the head of the group urged on excitedly, his short legs moving back and forth even faster.
This was tough on his two chubby little followers, who had to run to keep up.
"Malfoy, why do you want to be friends with Harry Potter? He's not popular right now," Crabbe, the follower behind the blond boy, asked疑惑地.
"And his monster cousin, he actually used magic to blow so many people down. If we go to find them, won't we get beaten up?" Gore, the follower, chimed in with a question.
Draco Malfoy was displeased to hear his two henchmen questioning his actions and abruptly stopped in his tracks.
Crabbe and Goyle couldn't stop in time and bumped into Malfoy, pushing him forward two steps before he regained his balance.
Malfoy was even more displeased. His face darkened as he turned back, glaring at his two innocent-looking, dumbfounded lackeys. He sighed and explained:
"This is my father's idea. He believes that my friendship with Harry Potter will bring us pure-bloods closer to Dumbledore!"
As for Harry Potter's cousin, do you really believe he could blow away so many wizards? Impossible!
How could someone with a surname I'd never even heard of mascots wield such powerful magic? My father couldn't even do that when he was eleven!
It's definitely a rumor!
Crabbe and Goyle could only nod timidly in the face of Malfoy's rebuttal, appearing quite submissive. But suddenly, their expressions turned to terror.
"Malfoy, your...your...shoulder..." The two henchmen didn't know how to remind their boss.
"What is it now?" Malfoy said helplessly, turning his head to look at his right shoulder. "Shoulder? There's nothing there! Don't make a fuss!"
"Another...other...side."
Malfoy then turned his gaze to his left shoulder.
Then... without realizing it, I made eye contact with a toad.
"Quick...quick! Help me move this toad!"
Malfoy was startled, his lips trembling, but he dared not move, for fear that the toad might get excited and pounce on his handsome face from his left shoulder.
"Huh?! How could this be..."
Upon hearing Malfoy's order, Crabbe and Goyle, who were in a panic, were initially at a loss and hesitated for several seconds before remembering to reach for their wands.
This is different from when they bully other young wizards. When faced with slimy, sticky, and bumpy cold-blooded little animals, rather than their own weaker kind, the eleven-year-olds don't have much courage.
By this time, Malfoy had calmed down a bit and, before his henchman, took out his wand and pointed it at the toad on his left shoulder.
"Toads, drive them away!"
Malfoy used a banishing spell, a simple spell that can repel the things a wizard thinks of.
"Lefer!"
Suddenly, a loud roar came from behind Malfoy, just as the light from the tip of his staff was emitted.
"Goo~Goo~"
No sooner said than done.
Malfoy's banishment spell missed Lyford. Sensing the danger, the toad jumped off Malfoy's shoulder first, avoiding the spell.
However, the spell did not miss; it struck Neville, who was rushing towards it to save his pet, in a straight line.
Poor kid!
The pet couldn't be saved, and the person who saved it died instead.
Neville was hit by Malfoy's banishment spell and was immediately thrown back the way he came.
His friends behind him were shocked and tried to help, but they couldn't react in time.
Only Dudley, using his ankle to generate power, launched himself forward at zero frames, extending his right hand to deliver a gentle, neutralizing force, which blocked Neville's back.
The force of the exorcism spell on Neville was neutralized, allowing him to land smoothly and avoid a painful fall.
"Are you alright, Neville?"
Hermione, Ron, and Harry then ran over and surrounded Neville, asking him all sorts of questions about his condition.
"I'm alright, save my Rafer!" Neville gasped, trying to stand up and launch another attack with Dudley's help.
"You should rest!" Dali said helplessly.
The aisle of this carriage is too narrow, making it difficult to maneuver. Neville rushed in too quickly, and Dudley refrained from attacking earlier to avoid accidentally injuring his teammates.
“That’s right! Neville, take a break, I’ll help you save Rafer!”
Just as Dudley was about to make his move, Hermione stepped forward to stand up for Neville.
This proud know-it-all pulled out her grapevine wand and was about to confront the Malfoy trio.
"Wait a minute, Hermione. Neville's toad jumped onto his shoulder first. It was an accident!"
Dudley rubbed his forehead, called out to Hermione, and at the same time, waved his hand, "Fly me through the air!"
Not far away, the toad Rafer, who had jumped onto the corridor floor, suddenly felt himself being bound by a large mass of air. Then, he involuntarily rose from the ground and flew into the hand of a little wizard next to his master.
Hermione hadn't taken two steps when Rafer flew over, skimming past her and landing steadily one centimeter above Dudley's right hand, hovering there.
Without hesitation, Dudley quickly tossed the little pet, which he didn't appreciate, into Neville's hands.
Honestly, raising a snake is better than raising a toad!
Dudley didn't understand, but respected Neville's hobby.
Neville hugged his toad with great joy, stroking it with his chubby little hands, while Hermione stepped back.
The matter seems to have been perfectly resolved; I can go back to my cubicle now.
However, the tree wants to be quiet but the wind keeps on.
The noble young master Malfoy, accompanied by his two bodyguards, strode over with an air of superiority.
Malfoy's pride is clearly different from Hermione's.
The former stems from a false understanding of lineage, family background, and social class, while the latter stems from confidence in one's own knowledge and abilities.
"You're just going to leave like this?"
Malfoy spoke up, immediately launching into a contemptuous interrogation. He first targeted Neville, "You're that Longbottom kid, aren't you! Keep an eye on your filthy, stinking toad! You're a disgrace to our pure-blood family!"
"I...I'm sorry!" Neville lowered his head in shame and stammered an apology.
"Who are you? What right do you have to treat Neville like this? You just used a spell to send Neville flying, you should apologize to Neville!"
Hermione stood up once again to defend her friend.
“I am Draco Malfoy! Draco Malfoy! One of the Twenty-Eight pure-blood families! My father is a member of the Hogwarts Board of Governors! Why should I apologize to a fool who offended me?!”
