Chapter 7 Readers Will Wear Yellow Glasses
Chapter 7 Readers Will Wear Yellow Glasses
"How boring." Yokoshima Naruko sighed helplessly when she saw that the handsome young man Uchiha Ryo was ignoring her. Then, she suddenly thought of something and said.
"Oh, by the way, I made a bet with Mr. Hiratsuka from Class A about our respective classes' average scores on the end-of-month exams. You guys will do your best, right?"
The students remained silent, and Naruko Yokoshima coughed lightly.
"Although their class has the first and fourth in the grade, the second, third, and fifth are all in our class! If you win, I have a way to let you skip half a day of classes and have free time."
Some students' eyes lit up at the prospect of skipping class and going out to play, but Uchiha Ryo looked around the classroom in surprise. Sure enough, in the far right row against the wall, Shijou Maki sat there bored.
I didn't see her yesterday. Could she be one of the four designated people who can't access the system? If that's the case, then I shouldn't provoke her.
However, the fourth-ranked student is also in Kaguya's class... "Who were the fourth and fifth-ranked students again?"
Uchiha Ryo turned to ask Shirogane Miyuki.
"Please, you didn't stop looking at the grades just because you got third place, did you? The fourth-ranked student is quite famous in school; I heard she's the second young lady of the Yukinoshita family. As for fifth place, well... Chitanda over there."
Uchiha Ryo nodded. "You seem to know quite a lot."
Miyuki Shirogane sighed. "It's not that I want to know, it's just that all those boys are talking about it."
What do boys usually talk about after class? The topic of which girl is the prettiest never disappears.
Whenever Shirogane Miyuki finishes class, he hears the boys in his class talking about these things: Kaguya Shinomiya, the eldest daughter of the Shinomiya family; Yukino Yukinoshita, the second daughter of the Yukinoshita family; and Eru Chitanda, the eldest daughter of the Chitanda family.
Uchiha Ryo gave an "oh," and of the top five girls in the freshman year, Shijou Maki wasn't considered, since the system hadn't specified her. Kaguya was difficult to approach, but Yukino... that would be hard to gain her favor with either.
My gaze shifted to Shirogane Miyuki. Sure enough, it was easier to raise his favorability with the captain and Shirogane's sister. Perhaps I should visit the Shirogane family this weekend as a friend?
During the afternoon club time, Uchiha Ryo, as the vice president, looked at Amakusa Shino with a very serious expression.
"Minister Amakusa, I think we should do something."
Amakusa Shino looked shocked. "Isn't this a bad idea? We..."
Uchiha Ryo nodded. "If I'm not going to do anything, what am I even doing here?"
"Here?" Amakusa Shino's shocked expression suddenly turned somewhat shy.
"But Chitanda and Shirogane are still over there." Amakusa Shino turned her head to look at the two who were reading books.
Uchiha Ryo said nonchalantly, "But our Classical Literature Club can't just do nothing, right? As the club president, you have to find some club activities to do."
Amakusa Shino patted her chest. "You scared me! You were talking about club activities, huh?"
"..."
Chitanda Eru put down her book. "Speaking of which, we still don't know what the Classic Literature Club is supposed to do."
Shirogane Miyuki stroked his chin. "Our school does have a literary journal, right? There should be a section for the Classical Literature Society in it."
Amakusa Shino's eyes lit up. "Then let's come up with content and launch our own club magazine. We can't let the literature club and the news club handle everything. We need to have a place in it too."
Uchiha Ryo still had some impression of the Shuchiin school magazine. Although they had just enrolled, this week's magazine had already been distributed.
Any literary club can occupy a small section of the page, and official school announcements will be published in each issue of the school magazine. The remaining space is filled by the news department.
Amakusa Shino stood up. "Then leave it to me. As the department head, I'll go to the news department tomorrow to discuss our section of the newspaper."
Uchiha Ryo nodded. "Alright, as the vice-president, I'll leave the task of thinking about the content for our Classic Literature Club's publication to Chitanda-san!"
Chitanda Eru clenched her fists and raised them to her chest. "I'll do my best!"
"Uchiha, I actually have a lot of ideas that I should be able to share." Amakusa Shino chuckled, as if she had thought of something interesting.
"No, your content will make the school magazine's readers look like 'yellow glasses,' so Chitanda should take charge."
Amakusa Shino sat back down helplessly. "I'm the club president, after all..."
Knock—Knock—
"Please come in."
Upon hearing the knock on the door, Amakusa Shinobu regained her seriousness and looked at the three people outside the door.
The leader was someone Rin Uchiha didn't recognize, but the golden chain ornament he wore on his chest already revealed his identity.
"What brings the student council president to our Classics Literature Club?"
Amakusa Shino suddenly felt a little nervous, because under normal circumstances, the student council president would not personally visit other clubs unless something bad happened to that club.
"Oh, Amakusa-kun, you don't know yet, do you? According to the club rules for the new semester, any club needs one advisor and at least five members to be established."
"So, it seems your Classics Club can't be established."
Amakusa Shino looked embarrassed. Ever since the third-year students graduated, the Classical Literature Club had become practically deserted. If she hadn't successfully applied to become the new club president, the club would have been disbanded by the school long ago.
After finally finding three new students, she was told there weren't enough??
"Um, cough cough...we'll handle this matter soon."
The student council president smiled and stepped aside, revealing the two people behind him. "Let me introduce you. This is Mr. Hiratsuka, the homeroom teacher of Class 1-A, and Yukinoshita, a student from Class 1-A."
"I have a method that can perfectly solve the problems on both sides."
The student council president pulled up a chair and sat down, then beckoned Hiratsuka Shizuka and Yukino Yukinoshita to come in.
Today, Yukino Yukinoshita wanted to start a club, so she prepared an application and went to the student council office. However, the student council president refused, citing the same reason that a teacher and five members were required to start the club.
Later, Yukino Yukinoshita found Shizuka Hiratsuka, who already knew the Yukinoshita family through Yukino's older sister, and thus agreed to Yukino's request.
However, this is Shuchiin High School. If it were an ordinary high school, Yukino could probably start her own club with the help of the Hiratsuka and Yukinoshita families.
But at Shuchiin Academy, no one has that right; even Kaguya Shinomiya cannot forcibly break the school's rules.
Yukino brought Hiratsuka Shizuka to the student council room again. Although their club application was rejected again, the president brought them here.
"The Classical Literature Club is short of an advisor and a member, and these two want to start a club. I think you two should discuss it."
The student council president's calm voice rang out, and then he stood up to leave.
"If you've reached an agreement, Mr. Hiratsuka, please come and let the student council know. If not, then you should all go back to the home club."
"Oh, right... Uchiha-kun, Shirogane-kun, come to the student council office tomorrow at noon."
After saying that, the student council president walked out of the clubhouse, leaving only Hiratsuka Shizuka and Yukino Yukinoshita standing at the door.
