Chapter 39 Expulsion
Chapter 39 Expulsion
After a long journey, Chongyang and Luyun finally arrived at the remote mountainous area.
The mountains were high and the roads were treacherous, and the terrain was complex, so the two of them proceeded cautiously.
After searching in the mountains for several days, they found a dilapidated hut. Pushing open the door, they found it filled with various experimental instruments and documents.
"It looks like this is where Li Tian is hiding," Lu Yun said excitedly.
Just as they were carefully examining the documents, footsteps sounded outside the door. Chongyang and Lu Yun alertly grabbed their weapons, preparing to deal with any potential danger.
The door slowly opened, and a figure appeared before them. It was Li Tian!
When Li Tian saw them, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Who are you? How did you find this place?" he asked in a low voice.
Chongyang and Lu Yun explained their purpose to him and told him that the truth behind the abandoned factory was related to the safety of countless lives.
Li Tian slightly raised his head, glancing at them with an extremely contemptuous look. A disdainful smile appeared on his lips as he casually said, "Hmph, what does this have to do with me? You uninvited guests, go back to where you came from! Don't get in my way!"
After saying that, he turned around gracefully and strode straight into the house, not wanting to waste another second paying attention to them.
Chongyang and Lu Yun looked at each other, exchanged glances, and then quickly followed Li Tian without hesitation.
Upon entering the room, they saw Li Tian sitting leisurely in a dilapidated, rickety chair that looked as if it might fall apart at any moment.
Li Tian turned his back to them, leaving them with a cold and indifferent silhouette.
"Li Tian, can you really just stand by and watch those people die without caring about their lives?" Chongyang finally couldn't contain his anxiety and anger any longer and raised his voice to question him loudly.
Upon hearing this, Li Tian's already gloomy face became even more unsightly, like the sky before an impending storm, making people feel extremely oppressed.
He frowned and replied impatiently, "I've already said I can't help you! Stop bothering me and leave immediately!"
However, Chongyang did not back down because of Li Tian's refusal. He took a step forward, looked firmly into Li Tian's back, and said decisively.
"We absolutely cannot give up so easily! Li Tian, don't forget, you are an outstanding scientist! You know better than anyone the terrible consequences that would result if your research results were allowed to be misused by those with ulterior motives. Now is the time for you to step forward. If you still choose to stand aside, more and more innocent lives will be implicated and suffer irreparable harm!"
Faced with Chongyang's righteous and indignant accusations, Li Tian fell into a long silence. The room became deathly quiet, with only the occasional creaking of the tables and chairs.
At this moment, Li Tian lowered his head, his hands clenched into fists, seemingly weighing the pros and cons intensely in his mind...
“Even if you completely disregard the feelings and interests of others, can you also abandon your own reputation and prestige?” Lu Yun then added righteously.
His sharp gaze fixed on the other man, as if trying to see right through him. "If this matter eventually comes to light, you will undoubtedly be held responsible and unable to escape the punishment you deserve!"
Upon hearing this, Li Tian jumped up from his seat like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
He quickly turned around to face the crowd, his face trying to appear calm, but a hint of gloom unconsciously crept into his eyes.
He thought to himself, "Hmph! No matter what, I will never let you guys have the chance to ruin my entire plan!"
His eyes, which were as cold as stars, were now filled with a resolute look, as if he had made some unchangeable decision. He said coldly, "If you don't leave now, you really won't be able to leave!"
Before he finished speaking, Li Tian slightly raised his right hand, gently placed it to his lips, puffed out his cheeks, and blew hard, producing a clear and loud whistle that instantly pierced the sky.
Almost at the same moment, a series of hurried running sounds came from not far away, accompanied by low barking of dogs.
In the blink of an eye, dozens of agile, glossy-coated hunting dogs rushed over like lightning.
These hunting dogs, each with sharp fangs and fierce eyes, quickly surrounded Chongyang and Lu Yun.
Chongyang and Lu Yun were both shocked by this, but they were not willing to leave so easily.
So, after exchanging a glance, the two tried to say something to salvage the situation.
However, faced with such a large number of exceptionally fierce hunting dogs, any words seem pale and powerless.
Ultimately, after weighing the pros and cons, they had no choice but to back down for the time being.
At this moment, Chongyang and Lu Yun were surrounded, and neither of them dared to be careless.
They cautiously moved backward, keeping a watchful eye on the menacing hunting dogs around them. Each step was taken with extreme care, for fear that the slightest misstep would provoke the beasts and trigger a bloody attack.
"Let's leave here first and then discuss this further," Lu Yun said in a low voice.
Chongyang nodded, and the two turned and walked towards the door.
Li Tian stood quietly in place, his gaze fixed on the receding figure, a slight, almost imperceptible smug smile playing on his lips.
That smile seemed like a silent declaration of what had just happened, yet it also seemed to conceal a deeper conspiracy and scheme.
"Brother, are we just going to let them go so easily?" Suddenly, a deep and magnetic voice sounded beside Li Tian.
Hearing the voice, Li Tian slowly turned his head and saw a tall and imposing man, standing like an iron tower, looking at him with a puzzled expression.
This man, named Ali, is one of Li Tian's most trusted and capable assistants.
A cold glint flashed in Li Tian's eyes, and he sneered, "Hmph! Don't worry, Ali, even if they sprouted wings, they wouldn't escape my grasp! Besides..."
At this point, Li Tian paused slightly, his tone becoming increasingly somber, "They already know far too many secrets, secrets that are enough to plunge them into utter ruin!"
At the same time, Chongyang and Lu Yun hurried towards the door of the small house.
Just as they were about to step out of the room, the two of them turned around at the same time, their eyes filled with resentment and unwillingness.
Chongyang gritted his teeth, grabbed Lu Yun, and disappeared into the vast night outside the door without looking back.
