Chapter 702 Final Exam
Chapter 702 Final Exam
Chapter 702 Final Exam
The appointment of the new minister did not actually have a significant impact on Hogwarts. Most students would only be surprised when reading the newspaper, and would still go to class on time after putting down the newspaper.
As June approached, the weather grew increasingly hot, and with the upcoming exams, a sense of tension permeated the castle, like a powder keg with a lit fuse about to explode.
Perhaps it's because this year is the year everyone least wants to take a holiday.
Seeing the news in the newspapers about Voldemort killing someone again and again, everyone obviously preferred to stay at Hogwarts, at least there they wouldn't be suddenly killed by Voldemort.
However, their thinking might be a bit of an overreaction—after all, not everyone is Harry Potter, and for most Hogwarts students, Voldemort wouldn't need to do it himself to kill them; the Death Eaters would suffice.
So strictly speaking, their situation is not much different from last year.
But no one told them these things.
At school, professors unanimously increased the difficulty of their teaching and the amount of homework in preparation for the upcoming final exams and holidays.
Even sixth-grader Celan had to write five essays a day that were over a foot long, in addition to spending two hours practicing spells and transfiguration.
But no one complained. Even Ron only muttered a few words after hearing about the homework, and then he would go to the library or an empty classroom with everyone to practice spells.
This tense atmosphere reached its peak after entering June.
Exam week had begun, and the night before, the Wizarding Exams Administration of the Ministry of Magic arrived at Hogwarts as usual.
Professor Gershilda Marchban is still leading the team. She was already the proctor when Dumbledore graduated, and she has been there for over a hundred years without changing.
That evening, Dumbledore, who had been missing for a long time, reappeared at Hogwarts.
His face showed undisguised exhaustion, but he forced himself to be energetic and invited Professor Marchban into the auditorium.
"Wait, look at his hands!" Hermione suddenly exclaimed.
Xilun subconsciously raised his head, then jumped up and stood up abruptly.
Because Dumbledore's right hand was charred black again.
But how could that be!
Siren was about to go find Dumbledore, but before he could do so, Dumbledore happened to notice the place as well.
He gently shook his head, as if to indicate to Xilen that there was no need to rush, and raised his right hand to point to a seat on the teachers' table.
"Professor Machiban, would you be comfortable sitting there?"
“I’m not senile yet, Albus,” Professor Marchban said loudly. “I sit here every year; you don’t need to remind me.”
"I'm sorry, I forgot," said Dumbledore.
At the same time, Xiren sat back down.
When Dumbledore raised his hand just now, his right hand, except for his little finger, returned to normal. Although it was hidden by his sleeve, it was still visible from Siron's angle, and quite clearly.
Hermione, sitting next to him, also saw it. She frowned and whispered, "Strange, could I be seeing things?"
"What did you misread?" Ron asked from across the table. "And what did you just say about Dumbledore?"
"No, it's nothing." Hermione shook her head, changing the subject, "What's the test in the first period tomorrow?"
"Transfiguration," Ron said. "I hope we don't have to take the test on multiple transfigurations; I'm just not cut out for that."
"It won't be on the test," Hermione said. "Multiple Transfiguration is a seventh-grade topic, and it's the last topic in Advanced Transfiguration. Even NEWT rarely appears on it, so it definitely won't be on the sixth-grade exam."
"That's good." Ron breathed a sigh of relief.
Just then, the previously empty plate was filled with a variety of delicious dishes. Starving, he immediately forgot what Hermione had just said and reached for the nearest roasted chicken leg.
Xiren glanced at Hermione, who seemed to be deep in thought. He was certain that he hadn't misread anything before, and neither had Hermione.
There's only one explanation: Dumbledore did it on purpose.
In the classroom, Dumbledore was chatting with Professor March Bennet, but they were too far apart to hear what they were saying. Both of them looked very serious, and Professor March Bennet would occasionally sigh.
After dinner, everyone returned to their dormitories to prepare for tomorrow's exam.
But few people could fall asleep at this time; everyone stayed in the common room, discussing the questions that might appear tomorrow.
In the corner, Hermione was highlighting important points for them.
"I've asked seventh graders and those who have already graduated, and the sixth-grade exams are generally not difficult. This time it's more like a summary, to see if you can stay in the advanced class. If your grades are too bad, and you don't even get an A (pass), you'll be kicked out of the advanced class by the professor next year."
"An A isn't a particularly high grade, so the sixth-grade exam won't be too difficult; it'll mostly consist of basic questions. As for Transfiguration, human transformation and cross-species transformation are the most fundamental skills learned after the third year, and tomorrow's exam will most likely cover these two topics."
Harry and Ron quickly wrote it down, then flipped to that section of the Advanced Transfiguration manual and carefully noted down the key points.
Siren didn't know how long they had been in the common room, but the next morning, after Siren and Hermione had already finished breakfast, the two of them arrived at the Great Hall, yawning.
At this point, only a few minutes remained before the first exam began. The two could only hurriedly grab a few sandwiches, stuffing them into their mouths as they ran towards the exam hall.
Fortunately, the Transfiguration exam room was on the second floor, not far from the auditorium.
The morning session consisted of a theory exam. On the table were parchment, ink, and quills that had been enchanted to prevent them from being used. Students were not required to bring anything with them when they entered.
Of course, you can bring it if you really want, but you will definitely become the focus of the invigilator's attention.
The students taking the exam with Xilun were all sixth-grade students. Most of those who could get into the advanced class didn't need to cheat at this point.
Besides, it's just a sixth-grade final exam, which is far less important than NEWT, so there's no need to risk being expelled by cheating.
After submitting the exam, there was nothing else to do in the morning.
The afternoon session will be the corresponding practical exam.
After Celen entered the examination room, she sat next to Professor Marchban and another old wizard.
"I remember you," Professor Machiban said. "Your Transfiguration has always been excellent, and you even got the highest score on last year's 0.WL exam."
"Thanks to Professor McGonagall," Celen said with a smile. "She taught me a lot, both from inside and outside the textbooks."
""
Professor McGonagall's tense expression softened considerably, but as an examiner, she couldn't show too much emotion.
However, Professor Machiban next to him did not have such concerns.
"Minerva is indeed one of the best Transfiguration professors I've ever met," she said with a smile.
Why is it one of them? Probably because Dumbledore was once a professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts.
After a few words, the tense atmosphere in the classroom was completely dispelled.
"Alright, let's begin the exam." Professor Machiban pointed to a cactus on the table. "You'll need to swap fingers with it. I don't think that'll be too difficult for you, will it?"
Transformation spell.
Siren blinked. Hermione had guessed right; the exam was indeed about human shapeshifting.
