Chapter 586 OWL Exam
A room that only appears once a week?
Although this statement made Umbridge doubtful, she quickly accepted it.
After all, this is Hogwarts, a magical castle that has existed for over a thousand years, so it's not surprising that anything unbelievable could happen here.
And this also explains why she never caught the other person—that room only appears once a week, and she was looking for it at the wrong time, so of course she couldn't find him, right?
“Tell me, darling, where is that room?” Umbridge said, stepping forward and grabbing George’s shoulders, eagerly asking, “Tell me the location, and the list.”
"I... I can't say," George said, covering his face with his hands.
Umbridge's face darkened, but before she could react, George quickly explained, "What I mean is, they made everyone who knew where there sign a magical contract, so we couldn't remember the location of that room at all."
"Then how did you get to that room before!" Umbridge quickly seized on the loophole in his statement and questioned him.
"They gave me a piece of parchment," Fred said, pulling a slip of paper from his pocket. "If that room appears, this piece of paper will show its location."
"If it appears again, I will let you know immediately; this is our way of showing our sincerity."
"No, that's not necessary. I need you to hand me the note, okay?" Umbridge said, narrowing her eyes.
She wasn't entirely convinced by the two men in front of her. Although they seemed very sincere, as an old rival, Umbridge felt that something was amiss.
George hesitated for a moment, then handed over the note.
"You definitely won't fire us, right?"
"Of course, darling," Umbridge replied casually, her attention fixed on the note, her outstretched hand trembling with excitement.
George covered his face tightly with his hands, his fingernails pressing red marks into his skin—but he did this not out of shame, but because he was afraid that if he suddenly laughed, everything he had just done would be for nothing.
Fortunately, Umbridge was focused on the parchment and didn't notice his unusual behavior.
When will it appear next?
"I don't know the specifics," George said through gritted teeth, "but it might be on Wednesday."
Umbridge couldn't help but frown.
If she remembered correctly, everyone was taking an exam that day, so even if she found the room, she wouldn't be able to catch anyone.
"Did you do this on purpose?" she demanded in a shrill voice.
“Of course not—Professor,” George said. “As far as I know, they also have a secret weapon hidden in that room, which Dumbledore specifically used to fight against the Ministry of Magic.”
"Weapons, more weapons?" Umbridge exclaimed, his eyes practically bulging with excitement. Compared to the students, the tangible evidence of weapons was clearly far more compelling.
"Yes, yes, weapons," George gasped, "but I don't know where they're kept. Those people don't trust us. He even made us sign an extra magical contract, so we can't even recite the list."
"It's alright—" Umbridge clutched the note tightly, then said in what she thought was a kind voice, "You've done very well. Go back and rest, don't miss lunch later."
George felt as if he had been granted a pardon, and dragged Fred, who was lying on the ground, away unsteadily.
They didn't stop until they reached the third floor, a place where Umbridge couldn't see them.
Xilun was already waiting there. Upon seeing the two arrive, he immediately asked, "How did it go? Did you deliver the goods?"
"Everything is going exactly as planned." George made a gesture indicating that everything was settled.
"Oh, this was so difficult!" Fred, who had been speechless just moments before, complained as if nothing had happened. "That idiot's magic only lasted five minutes, and I almost screamed!"
"Come on, you have it so much easier than me." George rubbed his face vigorously. "Without your cooperation, I almost laughed out loud several times."
"Sorry," Fred said with a grin, "I didn't expect her to shut me up like that—but do you think she'll believe what we said? To be honest, even I think it's full of holes."
Fred had been worried since the beginning that Umbridge would see through their plan, the biggest loophole being the timing of class.
George said the door would open on Wednesday, but at other times, they all have classes on Wednesdays and can't participate in any training.
But if we're talking about the weekend, the exams either haven't started yet or have already ended, which doesn't fit their plans.
Fortunately, Umbridge's attention was drawn to the non-existent secret weapon, and she did not notice this loophole.
"Definitely," Celen said with a smile. "At the very least, she'll definitely go and check if that door really exists."
In the days that followed, Fred and George seemed to be under some kind of special magic.
They stopped promoting their Weasleys Magic Tricks shop and stopped leaving dung balls on the castle walls; they were so quiet it was as if they had become different people.
The same goes for Siron; he spent most of the weekend in the library studying for Monday's Potions exam.
This was probably the exam Harry least wanted to take—he always said it would thwart his dream of becoming an Auror.
Later, he didn't want to be an Auror anymore and wanted to be a professional Quidditch player. However, during a career guidance session, Professor McGonagall told him that if he wanted to join a professional Quidditch team, he would also need a NEWT Potions certificate.
"I've really had enough—"
The night before last, Harry didn't finish reading all of Hermione's Potions notes until the early hours of the morning, so he was so sleepy that his head was still nodding while eating breakfast.
Xilun quickly took the milk jug away from him to prevent it from spilling all over him.
"Why do Quidditch players need Potions certificates? Do they think we can stir the cauldron while riding brooms?"
""
"It might also be to enable players to distinguish between different types of potions." Celen poured himself a cup of hot cocoa.
"As far as I know, professional Quidditch is different from school matches. Many potions, including Felix Felicis and Polyjuice Potion, are prohibited before a match. As a qualified professional Quidditch player, you should at least be able to recognize these potions to ensure you don't accidentally drink them before the match."
Just then, a bell rang more urgently than usual. After finishing the last of his hot cocoa, Siron stood up to prepare for his Potions exam.
"I don't drink any potions during the competition," Harry muttered as he stood up.
