Chapter 173 The Prophet's Talent
Chapter 173 The Prophet's Talent
Chapter 174 The Prophet's Talent
The second half of the divination class almost became a one-man show by Siron; no one looked at their teacups anymore, and they all crowded around Siron and Harry.
The crowd dispersed with laughter only after Xilun had fully explained what he had said.
In their view, the process of conquering Xilun was indeed exciting, but the absurd and laughable result was only comparable to their own.
Everyone looks the same, except that Xilun looks more like the real deal.
Except Trelawney.
Although she also felt that Xilun's victory was somewhat ridiculous, she unusually refrained from expressing any opinion, instead staring thoughtfully at the tea leaves in the cup, lost in thought.
At this moment, Harry also helped Siren look at his cup.
Perhaps because Siron didn't drink the tea, Harry had a much harder time examining the tea leaves and couldn't recognize them for quite some time.
"There's something in your cup that I think is a top hat; maybe you're going to work for the Ministry of Magic."
"There's another animal here, with wings—oh no, I don't recognize it." Harry pushed the cup toward Shillon. "Why don't you see it for yourself?"
Xilun glanced at his tea leaves.
Unlike the obvious pattern from before, this time he couldn't recognize what was inside either; it looked like nothing more than a pile of cheap tea leaves.
Fortunately, at that moment, a faint ringing sound seemed to come from a very far place.
It was the bell signaling the end of get out of class, but because the North Tower was so far away and the windows were completely covered by thick curtains, the bell sounded much quieter.
"I think we can end the lesson here for today," Trelawney said. "Yes, please pack your things, and just a reminder, don't forget your pet."
Neville had just stood up and was about to walk outside when he heard Trelawney's words and instinctively looked down, just in time to see Rafer lying there, looking up at him.
His face immediately turned red.
Clearly, if it weren't for Professor Trelawney's reminder, he would have forgotten about Ralph in the classroom today.
But speaking of which, why is Leif here? Shouldn't it be in the dormitory?
Or did you simply forget to take it out of your pocket last night?
But now is not the time to think about these things.
Seeing that the classroom was getting hotter and hotter, Neville quickly shook his head, grabbed Rafe and stuffed him into his pocket, and left the classroom with the last few students.
The next class is Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration lesson, which is in the main building of the castle, quite a distance from the North Tower.
In order not to be late, they had to quicken their pace and jog forward.
As he ran, Ron asked curiously, "Siren—why have you never mentioned that you also have the talent to become a prophet?"
"What is the talent of a prophet?" Hermione asked.
This was the first time she had encountered this situation. She didn't understand anything during the entire class and was in a daze when the class ended.
"It's about identifying the patterns," Ron explained. "It's said that only prophets can quickly identify what those tea leaves are, and also the crystal ball..."
"Those with the talent of a prophet can see all sorts of different scenes from it, while those without the talent can only see a white mist."
"Oh, right—" he took a breath and turned to look at Xilen, "Did you go look at those crystal balls on the shelf just now?"
"No," Siren said. "Besides, I don't know if this counts as having a prophetic talent, since I couldn't see anything when I looked at the other cup."
Are you sure?
"Of course, why would I lie to you?"
"That's really strange."
"What's so strange about it?" Hermione said impatiently. "I dare say Trelawney is a fraud, just like Lockhart last year. The tea leaves were probably random too, just some of them happened to resemble a certain pattern."
"How strange—you actually admitted to Lockhart that he's a fraud!" Ron looked at her in surprise, so focused that he almost bumped into the armor in front of him, but luckily Harry noticed in time and pulled him back.
"That was close, thank you Harry." Ron patted his chest with relief as he looked at the gleaming one-handed sword in the armored man's hand.
Hermione didn't say anything, but Ron didn't seem to care.
He didn't care whether Lockhart and Trelawney were liars; he only cared about how Professor McGonagall would punish Fang Yi for being late.
But this distance is really too far.
Even though they ran all the way, they had only just reached the lobby when the school bell rang.
Fortunately, everyone was like that; not a single person walked into the classroom on time.
After Professor McGonagall learned the reason, she exempted everyone from punishment.
She glanced at everyone; they were all panting heavily, but in good spirits, chatting and laughing as they took out "The Intermediate Transfiguration Guide".
"That's strange." Professor McGonagall frowned in confusion and looked at Hermione, who was closest to her, and asked, "Is this your first Divination class?"

"Yes, Professor," Hermione said.
"Didn't Trelawney predict that one of you would die this year?" Professor McGonagall continued to ask.
"no."
Hermione thought for a moment, then shook her head.
"How strange, has Trelawney finally stopped being so mysterious?" Professor McGonagall muttered again.
"I'm sorry, Professor," Hermione looked at her blankly, "I didn't understand what you meant?"
"It's nothing, Miss Granger, please sit down," Professor McGonagall said, clearing her throat.
She was actually surprised that Sybil Trelawney didn't use all sorts of bizarre things to scare the students, as she had done in previous years.
But this is for the best.
If the students become distracted by her words, then I won't be able to continue the class. This way, I can save time explaining.
"Prepare for class." Professor McGonagall walked to the front and gently tapped the table. Everyone immediately fell silent.
The topic of this lesson is Animagus.
It has nothing to do with Celestia; the content in the "Intermediate Transfiguration Guide" is about Animagus.
Of course, it's not about teaching everyone this magic; even seventh graders won't learn Animagus.
But as the most famous magic in Transfiguration, it's something you have to know even if you can't learn it, so the content of their lesson was to recognize and understand Animagus.
Hermione listened very attentively.
In her view, these traceable changes are the real magic lessons.
In front of everyone, Professor McGonagall transformed herself into a tabby cat, complete with the marks of her glasses around her eyes.
Everyone gasped, feeling the temperature in the classroom rise considerably.
They had witnessed this amazing change during their very first class, but no matter how many times they saw it, they would still gasp in amazement.
In the first grade, they only saw one cat, but this time they saw the whole thing.
Professor McGonagall transformed herself into a tabby cat without using a wand or casting any spells.
The classroom erupted in applause.
A few minutes later, Professor McGonagall transformed back to her original form and gestured for everyone to be quiet.
"Remember the key to Animagus transformation: establish communication, find the heartbeat, and complete the transformation. Why don't you write all of these down?"
The students immediately took out their quills and parchment and began to jot down notes.
