Chapter 41 The Auction Reopens - Part 4
Chapter 41 The Auction Reopens - Part 4
"I do know about these taboos." Vega walked over as soon as he heard Thor and the others talking about him.
To be honest, Vega prefers to interact with these purer superheroes rather than those politicians, because he can feel the brilliance of humanity still shining through them.
"I didn't eat people on that Earth, did I?" Tony Stark asked immediately, voicing his most pressing question as Vega approached.
When the footage was played, he saw Mark's armor standing in Madison Square, covered in dust and bird droppings, and knew that he also existed on that Earth.
Vega: "That you became a 'Carnivore,' but the suit's intelligence obeyed your command, shutting down and locking the suit, and that you starved to death."
"That's good, that's good." Tony Stark breathed a sigh of relief. Although it was his counterpart from another universe, he would feel very awkward if that counterpart did something she shouldn't have.
Steve Rogers: "Me? I see my shield."
Vega: "Uh, it seems like you were eaten by someone else. I'm not sure. I only stayed in that universe for less than a day."
Tony Stark: "Less than a day? Is there a difference in the flow of time across different parts of the universe?"
Vega: "There are indeed differences, and some of them are very large, to the point that one universe has just been born while another universe has already restarted countless times."
He wasn't lying about that, but there shouldn't be a big time difference between the 'Carnivore' universe and this universe. However, he didn't intend to mention the extradimensional space and the Phoenix Force, so he used this as an explanation for why he didn't return for a month.
Captain Britain's Brian Braddock: "I noticed that Thor from that world was also on Earth when the virus broke out. He killed his companions and left Earth. Could he have taken the virus to Asgard and other places?"
Vega shook his head: "I don't know."
His expression was rather unpleasant. He genuinely didn't know whether Thor was carrying the virus, nor did he know whether Phoenix had only corrected Earth or the entire universe.
However, it shouldn't be a big problem. That kind of virus can't survive in a vacuum, and the infected "carnivores" have a very strong sense of territory. Even if Thor leaves with the virus and Phoenix doesn't correct him, the possibility of the virus spreading back to Earth is extremely small...
Thor: "Those are Hercules, the mighty god of the Olympians, and Ares, the god of war. They've both been infected. It seems the realm of the gods in that world is doomed."
"Aren't you sad?" Steve Rogers asked incredulously, while Vega and the others around him looked at Thor in surprise.
Thor's expression was normal and his tone was calm when he said that, as if Asgard were a strange place.
This is very abnormal. When they were watching the footage, they felt very sad about the plight of the people in that world.
"Why be sad?" Thor asked, puzzled. Then he understood what everyone was thinking and explained with a smile, "The universe is billions of times more numerous than stars, quicksand, and droplets of water. Every moment, many Aesir gods perish. If I'm sad about everything, I might as well not do anything else in my life."
After hearing his explanation, everyone looked at each other, while Vega frowned secretly.
Thor's reaction was too strange. Could the Aesir gods in this world also be strange?
It seems I need to make time to get in touch with Soldor. The Nine Realms are the territory of the Aesir gods. If I don't understand them clearly, I won't dare to close both eyes at the same time when I sleep.
Thor's reaction left everyone speechless for a moment. Seeing this, Vega changed the subject: "It seems many people didn't participate in the bidding. Do they not like these potions?"
"I like it, but it's too expensive."
"Yes, the cheapest bottle of treatment potion has now risen to $582 million, no, it's become $600 million. It will take us several years to earn that much money."
People with official connections simply lamented the high price of the potions, saying they couldn't afford them, but the government would distribute them when they went on missions.
Those extraordinary individuals without official backing could only smile wryly; they didn't want to join the government and lose their freedom, so they could only watch helplessly.
Vega: "I apologize for my oversight. How about this, I'll give you one bottle of each type of potion for free, as a personal thank you for your efforts in fighting the invaders."
"This is too valuable."
"Yes, we can't accept it."
Everyone quickly refused. There were five kinds of potions, and the auction wasn't over yet. The five potions together were worth more than 30 million. Such valuable items could buy some of their lives. How could they dare to accept them?
"It's alright. The cost of refining it myself isn't much, but I'm only giving it away this once. If I give it away too often, those fools who paid a high price for it will have something to say."
Tony Stark, who had just raised the price again, turned pale upon hearing this. He was just paying for something and was being called an idiot. Did he have any manners?!
Captain Marvel, Captain Britain, and Mighty Man glared at Vega with annoyance, but considering they were about to get five bottles of potion for free, they refrained from punching him.
"Don't refuse, come and get it from me after the auction." After saying that, Vega did not give anyone a chance to refuse again, and turned back to the auction stage.
The auction ended shortly afterward, and Vega looked at the total auction amount. He was very satisfied to see that the unit price was much higher than before.
Despite his satisfaction, he still sarcastically remarked, "We've already said that the money from this auction is to help the more than 30 million people affected by the war. Why are you so stingy?"
"What happened to your good intentions of wanting to help other universes? Did you throw them into the sewers?"
Nobody paid him any attention. It's ridiculous; nobody's money comes from thin air. What do those 30 million people have to do with them?
"Ha, a bunch of hypocrites." Vega scoffed again, then swept his right hand across the auction table once more, and another box appeared.
"White Wine, Enchantment Orb, and Battle Doll are out of stock. I will notify you when they will be re-auctioned."
He opened the box and took out a small, pure silver cross with ornate carvings on the edges and a blue gemstone in the center, showing it to everyone: "This is a mind protection amulet, which can prevent the wearer from being controlled by psychic beings. It is valid for one hundred years."
There are a total of 2167 pieces, with bidding starting from a single piece. There is no limit to the number of pieces that each person can bid on, and the auction will last for 30 minutes.
A friendly reminder: this type of amulet is difficult to craft and will only be auctioned once in the near future.
