Chapter 324 Moral Public Opinion
Chapter 324 Moral Public Opinion
Madam Song walked to the center of the conference platform.
All eyes in the room turned to that direction.
Her eyes were fixed on her, with a fierce look in them.
This woman usually seems quite dignified, but when she gets ruthless, she's truly something else.
"I have something here." She held up a file folder in her hand, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"A share pledge agreement."
"I found it by chance, and I've never taken it out." She paused. "You know what? Someone's going to sell the company!" She slammed it on the table as she spoke.
A buzz of discussion erupted from below. What agreement? Whose? Who was it pledged to?
Song Yafei froze, her face turning deathly pale. She stared at her mother, her mouth slightly open as if she wanted to ask something, but couldn't utter a single word. She probably hadn't expected her mother to pull this stunt.
Just then, a man's voice rang out; it was Song Yafei's father.
Lying comes at a price.
The pot below immediately exploded.
"Price? What price?"
"What does Chairman Song mean by that?"
"Who is he talking about? Madam Song?"
The discussion grew louder and louder.
"You old folks, do you still remember what happened back then?" Song Yafei's father took a step forward, stood at the edge of the lamplight, and pointed directly at Madam Song without any politeness.
"It's her! She colluded with her old lover back then, creating a lot of messy debts that made me so angry that I got cancer. It's her!"
His voice trembled with anger; it was the pent-up resentment of so many years that finally erupted today.
This is even more explosive than that piece of crap from the previous document. A live broadcast of a family feud!
The shareholders' gazes towards Madam Song changed; they were filled with suspicion, scrutiny, and a hint of sudden realization. So that's how it is!
“Oh… I remember now…” someone muttered softly.
"Back then, Chairman Song suddenly passed away. I thought it was because of his poor health, but it turns out there was a hidden reason..."
"Tsk tsk, what a misfortune for the family, this fight is too ugly to watch."
Mrs. Song's composure began to crumble. She hadn't expected her ex-husband to suddenly jump out and undermine her, especially in front of so many people.
"You're talking nonsense!" Her voice turned sharp, completely losing her previous composure.
"You ran away without a word back then! Now you're coming back to fight for the family fortune?"
"I'm talking nonsense?" Song Yafei's father sneered.
"Wasn't that all a scheme orchestrated by you back then? I told you not to get involved in the business, but you colluded with your ex-lover to frame me! I never expected you to stop after handing the Song family business over to Yafei..."
"You're spouting nonsense!"
Mrs. Song tried to explain, but the shareholders' eyes were already filled with distrust. The victim image and moral high ground she had painstakingly maintained collapsed in an instant.
As if she had been forced to the edge of a cliff with nowhere to retreat, Madam Song suddenly raised the file bag in her hand again, making a desperate gamble.
"Don't listen to him! He just wants to come back and seize power! He's no longer a member of the Song family!"
“The one with the real problem,” he suddenly swept his gaze across me, “is him! Zhang Tian!”
She roughly tore open the file folder, pulled out a few sheets of paper, and shook them fluttering.
"This is a share pledge agreement that Zhang Tian secretly signed! He's been wanting to drain the Song family's assets for a long time!"
"The evidence is irrefutable! It's all in black and white!"
This counterattack was swift and ruthless; it was a desperate act.
The atmosphere in the room shifted again. Some shareholders who had initially believed in Chairman Song began to hesitate again, turning their gazes to me with curiosity and new doubts.
I clenched my fists tightly, my stomach aching slightly, and the pain kept me from losing my last bit of sanity.
I looked up at Madam Song, whose face held a kind of crazy smugness after a desperate struggle.
“You think,” I began, “that forging an agreement will cover up the truth?”
I suppressed the churning in my stomach and, with almost all my might, laboriously raised my other arm, pointing towards the ceiling of the conference room. There, an inconspicuous projector stood.
"I'm going to show you something," I said.
I had already backed up the evidence of his forged agreement in the cloud, and now it was all on display for everyone, down to the second.
Furthermore... the recovery records of deleted files, as well as the accounts of the people who performed the deletion operations, are all clearly and plainly documented.
Madam Song, and the names of those behind her, are prominently listed, leaving them nowhere to hide.
The entire venue fell silent instantly. Everyone looked up at the cold, hard evidence hanging in the air.
My shirt was soaked with cold sweat, sticking to my body, and my stomach was still cramping, but I forced myself to stand up straight.
Song Yafei's face remained tense.
She turned around and walked step by step toward her mother.
As Madam Song looked at the evidence in the air and then at her daughter approaching step by step, all the color drained from her face, leaving only disbelief, panic, and deep-seated fear in her eyes.
She seemed confused as to why this was happening. How could those things still be there?
The shareholders in the audience finally realized what was happening. One after another, they stood up, their faces filled with anger.
"That's outrageous!" A chubby shareholder slammed his hand on the table.
"They forged an agreement and then cried wolf! Do they think we're fools?!"
"Madam Song, you must give us an explanation! What exactly happened!"
"This is outright commercial fraud! It's a crime!"
The accusations came like a tidal wave, and those who had been hesitant and observing just moments before now joined the chorus of condemnation without hesitation.
Madam Song completely broke down.
"I...I didn't..."
"I just wanted to... to protect the company..."
She spoke incoherently, her voice trembling uncontrollably, choked with sobs, as she tried to explain herself.
Song Yafei finally walked up to her.
Looking down at his mother, his voice was low, yet it carried a chilling, penetrating power that clearly resonated throughout the entire venue.
"Mom! This is the path you chose!" she shouted hoarsely, stepping forward and shaking Madam Song's shoulders.
"Do you think this will save the Song family? You are sorely mistaken."
Song Yafei's eyes were filled with disappointment and heartache. "What do you think you can get in return for doing this?" she asked, her voice trembling with tears, before collapsing to the ground.
Behind me, Mrs. Song's "reinforcements" had various expressions.
At this moment, Song Yafei's father stepped forward again, took over the conversation, and naturally took control of the situation.
He surveyed the room and nodded slightly to all the shareholders.
"Thank you for your trust in me. I believe that all shareholders will make a fair judgment."
He paused, his tone steady, carrying a sense of control that had been lost and regained.
"Now, the truth has come to light."
"The Song family will take full responsibility for any problems caused by Mrs. Song and any infringement on the interests of shareholders. We will never shirk our responsibilities."
A burst of applause erupted from the audience. I let out a long sigh of relief, then everything went black, and I collapsed to the ground.
