Chapter 113 Silent Assassination
"You're Ah May?" Song Zhaowen took a few steps closer and, by the moonlight, saw the other person's face clearly. She was in her thirties, with a haggard appearance, but there was still some beauty in her eyes and brows.
Ah May stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly sneered, "Trying to trick me again? In the past two weeks, Songchai has sent three groups of people disguised as Chaiba's men to try and get information out of me. Tell your boss not to waste his time, I don't know anything."
Song Zhaowen didn't explain, but took out a ring from his pocket and handed it over.
That was a token given to him by Cai Ba to prove his identity; it was a very ordinary gold ring with "Ba & may1970" engraved on the inner circle.
When May saw the ring, her expression changed drastically. She snatched it away and examined it closely, her fingers trembling.
This is her wedding ring with Cai Ba; no outsider can ever get their hands on it.
This is enough to prove Song Zhaowen's identity.
"How is Cai Ba doing now?" May's first question was about her husband's situation.
Song Zhaowen said in a low voice, "Miss May, Boss Cai Ba is in a very bad situation right now. He is being targeted by Song Cai, and his Burmese men and brothers are not getting paid and are becoming increasingly uneasy. Wu Tun has also betrayed him, and Ah Bao and the others are all dead. Now I am the only one left, and I cannot guarantee that I will be able to rescue you 100%."
May bit her lip: "Listen, since you have this ring, I believe you must be one of Cai Ba's confidants. The fact that you were able to infiltrate here is enough to prove your skills. I'll tell you the account and password now. If something happens to me, at least you can bring the account information back to Cai Ba."
Song Zhaowen's eyes lit up, but he had to put on a convincing performance.
Song Zhaowen immediately raised his hand to interrupt: "Wait a minute, Miss May, let's talk about these things after you've safely met Cai Ba."
Ah May shook her head, her tone urgent: "No, you must write it down now. This is Somchai's stronghold, heavily guarded. Whether we can get out alive is a question. If I really can't leave, at least this money can't fall into Somchai's hands."
She grabbed Song Zhaowen's wrist with surprising strength: "Listen carefully, Swiss bank account UBH-7732-"
8890—5561, the password is the guesser's birthday written backwards, plus our wedding anniversary.
Song Zhaowen frowned: "Birthdays backwards? How was I supposed to know Boss Ba's birthday?!"
「1958年4月15日,倒过来就是51—41—8591。」阿may其实不用说这些的,但鬼使神差之下还是竹筒倒豆子:「结婚纪念日是1980年7月23日。所以完整密码是51418591—1980723,记住没有?」
Song Zhaowen repeated: "51418591—1980723."
"Yes." Ah May released her grip and gave a wry smile. "There are 537 million US dollars in the account, which is the wealth that Cai Ba has accumulated over the years. If he really reaches the end of his rope, this money is enough for him to make a comeback."
"Let's not talk about that anymore. What are your plans for the future?"
"Plan? What plan?"
Having obtained the password, Song Zhaowen no longer needed to act!
He pressed down on Ah May's head with both hands and then forcefully pried it open.
With a creak.
Amidst her utter confusion, Ah May's neck was snapped, and she died from a cold.
Song Zhaowen never intended to help A-May.
He accepted the mission merely to gain the other party's trust; the five hundred million US dollars was something Song Zhaowen intended to keep for himself.
Of course, this is only the first step in the plan, and the game is far from over.
Song Zhaowen stuffed Ah May's unseeing corpse under the bed.
They stealthily made their way to the military camp's armory, a solitary concrete building located in the northwest corner of the camp. There was only one guard at the entrance, dozing against the wall.
Song Zhaowen crept up behind him and delivered a swift chop to the back of the neck. The guard collapsed limply and was dragged into the nearby bushes.
Use a safety pin to pry open the door lock.
The room was spacious, filled with wooden crates. Song Zhaowen quickly scanned it with his flashlight: AK series rifles, RPK light machine guns, RPG rocket launchers, crates of grenades—on the innermost shelf, he saw what he wanted—
Three whole boxes of C4 plastic explosives.
Each box weighs twenty kilograms, enough to blow this camp to the sky.
He took out the timed detonator and wires from the toolbox and began setting them up.
The first detonation point was chosen in the center of the armory, where ammunition boxes were piled up. Once detonated, it would cause a chain reaction. Song Zhaowen stuffed five kilograms of C4 into the gaps between the boxes, setting it as a backup detonator. If the main detonation failed, this spot would automatically explode after half an hour.
Song Zhaowen moved through the camp like a ghost. He first made his way to the parking lot, where more than a dozen military vehicles and two old tanks were parked.
The tank's turret hatch wasn't locked—clearly, no one expected anyone to dare touch these steel behemoths. Song Zhaowen crawled inside and stuffed two pieces of C4 into the connection between the driver's compartment and the turret. This was the tank's most vulnerable part; if it exploded, the entire vehicle would be totaled.
Military vehicles are easier to handle. He only needs to stick the explosives near the fuel tank, and when it explodes, it will ignite the fuel tank and cause a secondary explosion.
Next were the wooden buildings, where the soldiers slept.
After doing all that, he glanced at his watch: 3:10 a.m.
There's still enough time.
Song Zhaowen's next target was Songchai's command post in the main building. According to the information he had extracted from the prisoners, Songchai's bedroom was on the far east side of the third floor.
There were four more guards at the main building entrance than at the armory. But it was the time when everyone was most sleepy; two were yawning, and the other two were leaning against the wall, dozing off.
Song Zhaowen went around to the back of the building and climbed up the drainpipe. He moved very lightly, like a gecko, and quickly climbed to the third-floor windowsill.
The window was closed, but unlocked. Song Zhaowen gently pushed it open and climbed inside.
The door was ajar, and heavy snoring could be heard from inside.
Song Zhaowen gently pushed open the door and slipped inside.
The room reeked of alcohol and tobacco. Songchai lay on the bed, shirtless, his chest rising and falling with his snores. A military uniform was draped over a chair beside the bed, with a holster hanging from the back.
Songchai seemed to sense something; his snoring stopped for a moment, and he turned over. But he didn't wake up.
Song Zhaowen drew his dagger, the blade gleaming coldly in the moonlight. Without hesitation, he covered Songchai's mouth with his left hand and plunged the dagger down with his right!
"puff!"
The dagger pierced his heart with pinpoint accuracy. Songchai's body stiffened abruptly, his eyes widening instantly, but his throat was gagged, rendering him speechless. He stared intently at Song Zhaowen, his eyes filled with terror and confusion.
Song Zhaowen tightened his grip, the dagger churning inside Song Cai's heart. Song Cai convulsed a few times, his pupils gradually dilating.
After confirming the death, Song Zhaowen pulled out a dagger and then handed Songchai his head.
The movements were clean and efficient, like a butcher handling livestock. The head was wrapped in a sheet and stuffed into a waterproof bag he carried with him.
After doing all this, he walked to the window, preparing to return the way he came.
But just then, footsteps suddenly came from the corridor.
Song Zhaowen immediately slipped behind the door and held his breath.
The footsteps stopped at the door, followed by a knock: "General? General, are you asleep?"
It's Wu Tun!
