Chapter 32: Recruiting Soldiers and Buying Horses
Chapter 32: Recruiting Soldiers and Buying Horses
The three followed Limei into the factory. The interior was under renovation and looked somewhat messy, but the overall plan was still visible.
The workers were busy, the machines humming. As Li Mei walked along, she gave a brief introduction: "Our 'Bursting Juice Foods' mainly produces high-end frozen foods. Our first flagship product is 'Bursting Juice Beef Balls,' which will be launched soon. The boss has very high standards for quality and brand, so we urgently need talents like you."
While nodding in response, Ye Rongtian quickly observed the surrounding environment, the workers' condition, and the stacking of materials, rapidly assessing the company's strength and management level in his mind.
The final conclusion was that the factory was poorly managed, the workers were inefficient, and everything was a complete mess.
We arrived at the temporary office on the third floor.
"Boss, the three gentlemen who will be interviewing have arrived," Li Mei announced at the door.
Ye Rongtian and the other two entered the office.
The office was small and simply furnished, but very clean. Behind a large desk sat a man who looked a few years younger than them, looking down at a document. He only looked up when he heard a sound.
It was Song Zhaowen.
The two sized each other up.
Ye Rongtian felt that the boss looked young but had a sharp eye with a penetrating power that was beyond his years. He didn't have an aggressive aura, but it made Ye Rongtian and the other two unconsciously straighten their backs slightly.
"Please have a seat, all three of you." Song Zhaowen gestured to the chairs opposite his desk. "Limei, coffee."
As Li Mei bent over, Ye Rongtian glanced at it unintentionally, and the depths of the Mariana Trench almost made him have a nosebleed.
Afraid of embarrassing myself, I quickly muttered "Mommy, Mommy, please!" to calm my racing heart.
Li Mei served three cups of coffee, rolled her eyes at Ye Rongtian, pulled her bra up slightly (only the boss was qualified to look at her little white pig), then retreated to her small table, pretending to be busy, but actually perking up her ears.
"No need for self-introductions, I've already seen all the resumes." Song Zhaowen got straight to the point, picking up three resumes. "Ye Rongtian, dropped out of the HKU Business School, started several businesses, and failed every time. Wow, did you drop out voluntarily or get expelled? But it doesn't matter, I don't care about academic qualifications, I only care about ability~"
Ye Rongtian gave an awkward smile.
He is indeed smart, but he has a very unconventional personality. He likes to take shortcuts in everything he does, and he also wants to get rich overnight. He is very ambitious.
This kind of person is not suitable for working for others; most people can't control him.
But Song Zhaowen is no ordinary person. He doesn't care about being clever and making a little money. But if the water is too clear, there will be no fish.
But if it affects the company's development, Song Zhaowen will teach him a lesson in the ways of the underworld.
"Ma Zhiqiang, a science and engineering graduate...his resume describes him as hardworking and reliable. Xu Wenbiao, a top student from the Accounting Department of CityU, is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant)..."
"My company is newly opened, making food. We have money, land, and products." He pointed to a small insulated box on the table containing a few brown beef balls: "The only thing we lack is someone who can sell the products, manage the factory, and keep accurate financial records. What makes you three think you're qualified for the positions I'm hiring for? Or rather, what benefits can you bring me?"
Ye Rongtian spoke first: "Mr. Song, you're a man of few words! We can see the potential and ambition of your new factory, and we dared to approach you when it was still a construction site. We need opportunities, you need talent, and we each get what we need."
Ma Zhiqiang nervously rubbed his hands together: "Mr. Song, I... I may not be as eloquent as A-Tian, but I'm conscientious and willing to learn. If you put me in charge of production, I will definitely streamline the processes and keep a close eye on quality!"
Xu Wenbiao adjusted his glasses and said calmly, "Mr. Song, my principles are professionalism and compliance. As long as the company's business is within the legal framework, I can guarantee financial clarity, tax compliance, and the most efficient capital operation plan."
After listening, Song Zhaowen showed no expression on his face. He simply picked up the insulated box, opened it, and pushed it in front of the three of them: "Try it."
Ye Rongtian and the other two were stunned for a moment, looking at the unremarkable beef balls in the box.
"This... is this your company's flagship product?" Ye Rongtian asked.
"Yes, juicy, pissing beef balls." Song Zhaowen nodded. "Try them, and then tell me, if you were to sell this, what would you do?"
Ye Rongtian was the first to pick up a piece, hesitated for a moment, and then put it in his mouth. Ma Zhiqiang and Xu Wenbiao also each took one.
The next second, the expressions of the three people changed simultaneously.
Ye Rongtian's eyes widened suddenly, and he unconsciously quickened his chewing, his face showing a mixture of surprise and enjoyment. Ma Zhiqiang grunted and nodded repeatedly. Xu Wenbiao remained calm, but his eyes visibly brightened.
"This..." Ye Rongtian swallowed the beef ball, took a deep breath, and his gaze towards the beef ball was completely different: "Song Sheng! This beef ball... is amazing! The texture, the taste, that bursting juice gimmick... it's simply a killer product. If marketed properly, it will definitely be a hit!"
He instantly got into the zone, speaking rapidly: "If I were in charge of sales and marketing, the first step would be a free tasting blitz! Distribute samples intensively in all the tea restaurants, markets, and school gates across Hong Kong; the second step would be buzzword marketing! Words like 'juicy' and 'pissing' are already gimmicky enough, but to make it a big hit, we'd hire writers to write advertorials in newspaper food columns, with exaggerated headlines... The third step would be in-depth channel cultivation, negotiating exclusive supply or featured promotions with large chain tea restaurants and hot pot restaurants..."
Ma Zhiqiang also got excited: "In terms of production, to maintain this quality, standardization is essential! We need to establish strict raw material acceptance standards, standardized production processes, and quality control testing points... I can design a set of SOPs."
Xu Wenbiao pondered and said, "Financially, the initial marketing investment will be substantial, requiring meticulous budget management and cash flow forecasting. We can design credit terms specifically for the catering channel to accelerate payment collection. Once the brand is established, we can also consider financing for expansion..."
The three of them chatted away, getting more and more excited as they talked.
Everyone here is smart; after tasting it, they'll naturally discover the potential of the "pissing beef balls"~
These three men—Ye Rongtian, passionate and full of ideas, but somewhat impetuous; Ma Zhiqiang, reliable but lacking in decisiveness; and Xu Wenbiao, professional and meticulous but perhaps too conservative—make for a decent team. More importantly, they have a spark in their eyes; they are genuinely motivated to get things done.
"Alright." Song Zhaowen raised his hand, interrupting their discussion.
The three of them immediately fell silent and looked at him nervously.
Whether or not to use them, the boss in front of me said it with a single word.
Song Zhaowen looked at them and slowly said, "Ye Rongtian, Sales Manager. Ma Zhiqiang, Deputy Production Manager. Xu Wenbiao, Finance Supervisor. Three-month probation period, salary increased by 20% as GG mentioned. Good performance will bring bonuses and stock options. Poor performance, or if I discover any inappropriate thoughts you may have..." He paused, "My company isn't a place you can come and go as you please. Understand?"
Ye Rongtian and the other two exchanged glances. This young boss was not to be fooled.
"Understood, Mr. Song!" the three replied in unison.
"Come to work tomorrow." Song Zhaowen waved his hand. "Limei, show them around and assign them workstations."
"Okay, boss~" Li Mei stood up and gave the three of them a professional smile. "Gentlemen, please follow me."
Ye Rongtian and the other two followed Li Mei out of the office and closed the door. Even after they closed it, Ye Rongtian could still hear his low, excited whisper outside: "This time... we're really going to take off!"
"Now that we have the talent, it's up to you to help me steer this ship steadily and fast," Song Zhaowen muttered to himself.
