Chapter 12 Weasel
Chapter 12 Weasel
In the blink of an eye, the three weasels disappeared into the withered grass. Jiang Hao stared at the basket and the empty raincoat on the ground for three seconds, then turned around and ran back to the car, his face pale and his breathing rapid.
The two girls had clearly witnessed what had just happened. Their faces turned pale with fright, and they stammered, unsure of what to say.
"Hold on tight!" Jiang Hao gritted his teeth, stepped on the gas, and the sports car roared off, knocking the raincoat and basket to the side.
The rain poured down harder and harder until the raincoat and basket were far away. Only then did Qi Qi say, still shaken, "Those were foxes, weren't they? What were they trying to do, disguised as humans? It was so creepy!"
Chen Siya moved closer to her, looking at the pitch-black night outside, and said, "It's a weasel, it looks similar to a fox. These things are very intelligent, my grandfather said..."
"Let's not talk about it." Jiang Hao hadn't recovered yet; the direct experience he had just had was too terrifying. He said in a trembling voice, "Maybe they're just playing a joke on us."
scold--
Suddenly, the car stopped in a dark grove of trees. Jiang Hao turned around and exchanged a glance with the two girls, then looked at the rainy night outside and quickly turned the key, but the car wouldn't start no matter what he did.
Chen Siya shuddered and asked, "Is the car broken?"
Jiang Hao checked it and said, "Everything is normal, and the gas tank was just filled up when we arrived."
"What happened?" Qi Qi asked, her voice trembling with fear.
Chen Siya hugged her, her face also filled with fear.
"Don't be afraid! Maybe something's wrong. I'll go down and take a look."
Jiang Hao gritted his teeth, opened the car door, and got out in the rain to check the engine, water tank, and other devices. Chen Siya and Qi Qi looked out through the car window.
Just then, Jiang Hao suddenly paused, smiled strangely at them, and turned to walk into the woods beside him.
Chen Siya and Qi Qi exchanged a glance, both seeing a hint of doubt in each other's eyes. Where was Jiang Hao going?
"Jiang Hao! Where are you going?" Qi Qi shouted through the car window.
Jiang Hao didn't turn his head back and strode into the woods.
Chen Siya and Qi Qi both sensed something was wrong. What was wrong with Jiang Hao? Did he really need to go that far to use the restroom?
Without thinking twice, they opened the car doors and chased after him, calling out, "Jiang Hao! Wait a minute!"
The rain was torrential, and the wind made the trees sway. Only Jiang Hao's shadow could be vaguely seen ahead. He ignored the two girls' shouts and kept running into the forest.
Chen Siya and her companion felt extremely helpless and frightened, and they cried as they chased after them.
After chasing for five or six minutes, a lonely little house appeared ahead. Suddenly, a light came on inside, and a figure swayed and seemed to be doing something. Jiang Hao seemed to know the place very well and went inside.
Chen Siya and her companion stumbled closer to the house, calling out cautiously, "Jiang Hao? Jiang Hao?"
An old voice came from inside the house: "Hehe, it's raining heavily and it's very cold outside. Come in and have a bowl of hot soup."
The voice sounds like an old woman.
Chen Siya and Qi Qi exchanged a glance and helped each other into the house.
The house was simple, and the furniture was old, but it was arranged neatly. An old lady with a full head of white hair was stirring soup in a pot in the corner of the room. It was yellowish and thick, and no one knew what it was made of. The tempting aroma wafted far away.
Jiang Hao sat at a table to the side, holding a large bowl, not even looking up, wolfing down his drink and slurping it down.
Chen Siya and Qi Qi looked at him with surprise, wondering if Jiang Hao used to come here often. Just as they were about to speak, the old lady said with a smile, "Young ladies, are you cold? Here, have a bowl of soup to warm up."
As she spoke, she ladled out two bowls of yellow soup and placed them on the table. Chen Siya instinctively wanted to refuse. This was too strange. In the middle of the night, and with the rain falling, how could there be an old woman making soup in the old woods?
But the aroma of the soup bowl made me dizzy and unable to speak.
Qi Qi, who was sitting at the table, picked up her bowl and drank it in big gulps, not minding the heat at all.
The soup seemed to have a peculiar magic that made it irresistible. Chen Siya sat down involuntarily, picked up the soup bowl, and took a small sip. The soup was immediately fragrant and left a lingering aftertaste.
Wait! What kind of soup is this?
She shook her dizzy head vigorously, looked up at the old woman, and found that the old woman had a creepy smile on her face, and her face full of wrinkles was trembling incessantly.
"Who...are you?" Chen Siya asked, struggling to speak.
"Hehehe...good boy, drink up, drink up."
The old woman chuckled wickedly, her voice full of seduction.
Chen Siya felt dizzy again and uncontrollably picked up the bowl.
……
"What the hell is this weather! It was fine just a moment ago."
Zhou Fengchen, still soaked to the bone despite wearing a tattered raincoat, clutched his father's memorial tablet tightly, cursing, "Damn it! Even this raincoat I picked up leaks!"
Just then, a car appeared in the heavy rain ahead. Zhou Fengchen squinted and was overjoyed. It was the two girls' car. Could it be that they pitied me and were waiting for me?
City people are so much better than the old Party Secretary and his ilk.
I hurried a few steps to the car and looked inside, then froze for a moment. Where was the person? Was the car abandoned?
He looked around but couldn't find anyone. He glanced in the direction of the woods and frowned.
……
Inside the small house, Chen Siya was in tears, struggling in agony. She realized that there was something wrong with the old lady and the soup, but she just couldn't stop herself from drinking it. Meanwhile, Qi Qi and Jiang Hao next to her were drinking bowl after bowl without any expression on their faces, and they had already lost count of how many bowls they had drunk.
Finally, the whole pot of soup was finished, and Qi Qi and the other girl fell to the ground with a "plop," their bellies bulging, writhing in pain.
"Hehehehe..."
The old woman's face was full of wrinkles, and she pulled out a sharp, curved knife from somewhere. She walked towards Jiang Hao, reached out her brown old hand to unbutton his clothes, and patted his belly.
"Ugh—"
Chen Siya knew that something terrible was about to happen, but she couldn't say a word. Tears streamed down her face as she shook her head.
"Young lady, you have a good heart. Don't be impatient. After this old woman eats their hearts, it'll be your turn, hehehe..."
The old woman gave her a wicked grin, brandishing a small knife at Jiang Hao's belly, her eyes gleaming, and humming incoherently.
Chen Siya closed her eyes, her mind a jumbled mess, fear and despair surging into her heart, almost causing her to collapse.
Just then, a voice came from outside the door: "Grandma, is there any soup left? Give me a bowl."
Chen Siya suddenly opened her eyes and found the country bumpkin who had been following them standing outside the door, shivering in the rain. She wondered how he had found her way here and wanted to tell him to run, but when she opened her mouth, she couldn't utter a single word.
The old woman was about to strike with the knife when she heard the sound, looked up, paused for a moment, and her face darkened. "It's gone."
"That can't be right?" Zhou Fengchen chuckled, walked into the house on his own, picked up a bowl, scooped half a spoonful from the pot, then sat on the threshold and smacked his lips twice as he drank. "There must be seven or eight kinds of Chinese medicine, and some dead bones. The taste is alright, and the cooking is pretty good."
Chen Siya was stunned. The old lady's face darkened further, and she said in a hoarse voice, "What are you going to do?"
Zhou Fengchen casually tossed the broken bowl aside, rubbed his nose, and asked, "What are you up to now?"
The old woman said, "I want to eat human hearts!"
"Would you like to eat my heart?" Zhou Fengchen pulled open his shirt, gestured to his heart, and said, "It shouldn't be any worse than theirs!"
The old woman squatted on the ground, remaining silent.
Zhou Fengchen's face turned cold. "You old beast! You have little cultivation, but plenty of talk. Why don't you obediently reveal your true form and accept your death!"
"Chirp chirp chirp..."
The old woman's face changed drastically. As she twisted her body, she suddenly transformed into a weasel and turned to dart out the door.
Chen Siya could no longer bear this bizarre and terrifying scene; her vision went black, and she fainted.
