Chapter 16 The Invincible Inner Demon
Chapter 16 The Invincible Inner Demon
Clang! A loud explosion in the middle of the night startled the birds sleeping in the sycamore tree, making them tremble.
"Lin Jinghong, what the hell are you doing!" Lin Fan couldn't help but curse.
Fortunately, Lin Fan reacted quickly and blocked the wooden sword with his hand before it hit his head.
But the blow still hit his head, making his skull ring, and he was still holding the Soul-Suppressing Pearl in his hand as he tried to defend himself.
The Soul-Suppressing Pearl almost slipped from his grasp and fell out of his hand.
It would have been funny if it had fallen. I almost got killed by that fat guy.
Fortunately, it was a close call; if that blow had landed squarely, Lin Fan would probably have been knocked unconscious.
Sanpang suppressed the desperate expression on his face and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Brother Fan, I was thinking of catching you off guard, otherwise the dirt on you might be discovered."
"Also, don't call me by my full name. If some unclean thing finds out, it might start haunting me again."
"Sanpang, if you hit me any harder, I'll turn into something filthy and haunt you!" Lin Fan was still very angry.
He pretended to teach Sanpang a lesson, but out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at the woman beside him. The angle of Sanpang's sword strike just now definitely grazed her body.
It seems this damn peach wood sword is utterly useless; it only caused my arm and head to swell up from being hit.
"Brother Fan, you said there was something dirty there? Did I hit it just now?"
"What a load of crap! Your sword is fake, isn't it? It's useless." Lin Fan said, pretending to be angry, while observing the woman's reaction. Now that there was another person present, it didn't seem to have any effect on her.
From the beginning, she kept rubbing her hands and head all over Lin Fan's body. They were icy cold, and every time she did, Lin Fan's hair stood on end.
Fortunately, Lin Fan used his anger towards Sanpang to effectively conceal his unease.
The lantern in Sanpang's hand swayed, and the peach wood sword he was carrying gave him even more courage. He kept searching around Lin Fan for the dirty thing Lin Fan had mentioned.
"It's so big, can't you see it? A woman with long, white legs and a voluptuous figure, about my height without considering her head." Lin Fan finished speaking and nervously looked at the woman and Sanpang. After confirming that Sanpang really couldn't see it and that the woman was indeed not interested in Sanpang, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He silently made a mental note of it. No matter what it was, at least she was only after him.
Upon hearing this, Sanpang shook the lantern in his hand and looked at Lin Fan strangely.
He roughly understood what kind of evil thing Lin Fan had encountered.
Then, recalling that Lin Fan wasn't wearing any clothes when he entered the room and was gesturing around in the air, he understood everything!
'It's not Lin Fan's fault. Living in such a small room with his mother usually makes it difficult to vent. Since his mother isn't here today, Lin Fan naturally wants to let loose.'
Thinking of this, Sanpang was no longer nervous at all, and even showed a lewd expression of mutual appreciation.
And unexpectedly, Lin Fan had the exact same taste as him: voluptuous, fair-skinned women who were a head taller than him!
I must have a good talk with him when I have the chance in the future.
"Brother Fan, then I won't bother you any longer. Oh, by the way, you can keep this sword. Please use it as you like, and return it to me when you're done."
After finishing his sentence, Sanpang put down his sword, picked up his lantern, and went out with light steps.
Lin Fan didn't understand why he suddenly believed him, but it was better that he left. Staying would not only be of no help, but might also cause trouble.
……
As soon as Sanpang stepped out of Lin Fan's house, he was pulled aside by a thin, bony hand.
"Hey Fatty, how's Little Chicken doing? You wouldn't believe it, he was holding a wooden sword in one hand and a sickle in the other, his eyes were bloodshot, it was terrifying."
"Uncle Luo, it was probably too dark at night, so you didn't see him clearly. He's fine."
Lin Luozi reached into her clothes and scratched herself, wondering, "That's strange. Could Lin Fan have run into something evil again? Why is he acting so oddly?"
"Yes, I did encounter one, and a really powerful one at that," Sanpang said confidently and smugly.
Lin Luozi became interested upon hearing Sanpang's words. He needed the information and could ask for a reward by telling Master Lin later. "Which deity possessed you? Tell me quickly!"
"It's a really powerful inner demon. Every man has one, and Lin Fan must have been holding it in for too long, so it flared up and became very serious," Sanpang continued to explain, confidently.
"Stop keeping me in suspense, just tell me!" Lin Luozi urged impatiently, but Sanpang remained silent, smiling as he looked at Luozi.
It wasn't until Lin Luozi stuffed a few copper coins into Sanpang's hand that Sanpang slowly revealed the answer: "Lin Fan must be missing women." Sanpang finished his speculation in one breath and then ran away.
"Hey, you little fatty, give me my money back!" Lin Luozi suddenly realized that there was no dirty stuff at all; this little fatty was trying to scam him out of his money!
Lin Luozi jumped up and limped as he tried to catch up with Lin Sanpang, who had already fled far away.
Just then, a rooster crowed in the distance.
……
Lin Fan was already very sleepy. The woman's previous methods, which had once startled him, were now only good for keeping him awake.
Lin Fan propped his head up with his hand, looking at the dim light of the oil lamp on the table.
As soon as a rooster crowed, Lin Fan perked up.
He stared intently at the woman in front of him.
However, the other person was even more excited than him, and suddenly all the joints in his body twisted up like a four-legged spider.
Suddenly abandoning her human form, she charged towards Lin Fan in an extremely bizarre posture.
Suddenly, this happened, and Lin Fan felt a chill on the back of his neck. He thought nothing could scare him anymore, but he was still startled.
No, it was really cold on the back of his neck. He turned his head and saw a catfish-faced human head with its trachea and blood vessels as tentacles opening its blood-red maw to bite down on his neck.
At this moment, the spider-like body rushed in front of Lin Fan, and its slender fingers with long nails were about to slash at Lin Fan's eyes.
The overwhelming visual impact broke through Lin Fan's psychological defenses, making him feel as if his soul had left his body.
However, as the eerie green Soul-Suppressing Pearl lit up, the fear was dispelled once again.
The head and claws stopped just before they touched Lin Fan, turning into wisps of smoke and dissipating.
That scared me to death! It was just a final stand, and it's over already?
Lin Fan relaxed.
Thanks to the Soul-Suppressing Pearl, otherwise I would have been scared to death again.
Not counting the illusions, Lin Fan experienced being scared to death four times in one night. This was even without Lin Fan's fear accumulating and increasing, causing his threshold to rise higher and higher.
Without the Soul-Suppressing Pearl, even a dozen lives wouldn't be enough for an ordinary person to die.
However, if the same method were used on Lin Fan again, it probably wouldn't be as effective. Even without the Soul-Suppressing Pearl, he had developed a certain resistance to this thing's methods.
After all, as long as you're not scared to death, you'll get used to it eventually.
After considering for a moment, Lin Fan put down the Soul-Suppressing Pearl for a while, and then fatigue and the fear from before surged up all at once.
The Soul-Suppressing Pearl only eliminated the fear it generated; it did not take away Lin Fan's fear.
Just like how people can't help but recall horror movies after watching them, Lin Fan hugged himself tightly in fear. He was afraid of unknown dangers, and even more afraid of death.
If that ugly woman comes back now, she might have a chance to kill Lin Fan instantly.
However, Lin Fan wouldn't give her a chance. When he felt his human emotions return, he picked up the Soul-Suppressing Pearl again.
In order to fight against beings beyond human comprehension, Lin Fan needs to maintain his inhuman rationality.
Lin Fan was naturally worried that the ugly woman would launch another surprise attack on him.
"Damn it, which bastard broke my door?"
Upon hearing Lin Shuixiu's voice outside, Lin Fan immediately went out, afraid that her mother would worry about her.
Upon seeing Lin Fan, Lin Shuixiu was overcome with grief.
Just as Lin Fan was about to explain about the door, Lin Shuixiu interrupted him.
"Xiao Fan, the matter of the gate isn't important. Listen to me, something big has happened in the village."
"Ergou and all the other kids, they're all gone!"
