The cursed figure glanced at Ron, having no idea who Ron was, and therefore did not want to answer Ron's question. So the girl asked again, and only then did the cursed figure obediently answer.
"When I first came here, it was because I really liked a sesame seed cake shop nearby. I just wanted to have a bite of sesame seed cake here, so I stayed here for a while. Also, the way I kill people is completely different from this."
If it were me, I would enter their hearts and crush their souls.
The curses around him confirmed to Ron that this curse did indeed kill in this way, and that he hadn't killed anyone for a long time.
“I can assure you that I have not laid a hand on any human since the rules were set by my master last time. In addition, I have helped many people during this time. Everyone can testify to this. Even if you call those people here, they can testify for me.”
Ron carefully observed the curse and found that it didn't seem to be lying. Moreover, he could see that the curse aura on the curse was very strong, which was why it had been here for so long.
If it were truly the work of this curse, it would have released a great deal of energy, and its aura would have become increasingly dense. This faint aura is clearly unreasonable.
Then another cursed one came out and said.
"Although I have never been here, I seem to have heard about the situation here, and at that time I was in the next village."
I could sense a very strange, bloody smell emanating from here. I had initially intended to come here, but I found the atmosphere odd, so I immediately retreated.
Ron asked immediately.
"What kind of aura did you sense?"
The cursed man thought for a moment and then said...
"It seems to be a very special aura, not like a curse, but more like a strange creature. Moreover, this aura seems to be able to spread to a very far place, but it dissipates very easily. In a short while, the aura completely disappeared, and I could no longer sense its presence."
Ron frowned slightly. It seemed that this matter had become even more troublesome. If it was not caused by these curses, then it must be caused by someone else.
"Anyone capable of reaching this level could not possibly be a normal human; it is most likely a far more terrifying creature," Ron said, adding that he had to be on high alert.
"Does anyone else see what's happening here?"
But now none of the curses have spoken up, and everyone looks puzzled, because they hadn't discovered this situation before.
The girl said.
“We’ve only stayed around the castle area during this time and haven’t been to these places. Although there may be some curses here, they are all connected to me, and I haven’t found any curses lingering here for too long.”
Just then, Ron suddenly sensed that one of the corpses seemed to move slightly. Ron immediately bent down to examine the corpse, but found that the energy emanating from it seemed a bit strange.
That wasn't the energy of a curse, but a completely new kind of energy. Ron hadn't discovered this energy before, but it seemed that the corpse reminded him, and Ron quickly analyzed it.
Although this energy was very strange, Ron felt that it was traceable. It seemed to be a new energy formed by the fusion of natural energy and curse energy. This energy was more powerful than ordinary curse energy, but it was only a tiny bit. If it weren't for the sudden movement of the corpse, Ron would never have been able to discover this energy.
The girl also sensed this energy, and her expression changed slightly.
"Why does this energy feel so familiar? It's like I've seen it somewhere before."
Ron asked eagerly.
"Think carefully, where exactly did you see it?"
The girl carefully observed the energy, but quickly shook her head.
"I don't quite remember, it must have been a long time ago."
The situation here remains uncertain. Although the curses keep trying to distance themselves, Ron still considers them suspects. Ron knows that these curses have not yet shaken off suspicion.
The girl said to Ron.
“We have been trying to reform ourselves and never thought of going against humanity again. However, I know that you will remain skeptical no matter what we do, and I can understand that. But you must give us a clear explanation.”
Ron said.
“If you did not do this, of course I will not blame you. I will definitely find out the truth.”
Ron then investigated the matter everywhere, asking many people, but he didn't get any information.
The girl didn't stop either; she began sending these curses everywhere to search for clues about the matter.
These curses are spread all over the world, and they all possess immense power, making them highly efficient. Yet, even so, no clues have been found.
The girl frowned deeply. If they couldn't find any clues, they wouldn't be able to prove their innocence. And now, having just reformed themselves, they desperately needed the approval of these humans.
Ron is the medium for humanity, and now she really hopes that Ron can believe in them.
However, the matter was not over yet. While they were searching for clues, Ron soon discovered that a large number of corpses had appeared in other places, and the deaths of these corpses were almost identical to those of the previous ones.
Ron felt things were getting increasingly complicated; it seemed like the other side was declaring war on him and provoking him.
Ron clenched his fists. He refused to believe he couldn't find the truth. When he saw the girl again, her brows were furrowed, and she said...
"Although I have sent many curses to patrol everywhere, I have not obtained any clues, and there is still no progress in this matter."
Ron nodded.
"Me too."
He then took the girl to the place where the body had been found again, and the girl was very surprised when she saw the bodies.
"Does the other side still intend to make a move at this point? They must be trying to declare war on us."
Ron nodded and said.
“That’s right, this is exactly how he declared war on us. This time, we must make sure he finds out.”
Chapter 22, The Answer
Ron and the girl then examined the condition of the corpses, bringing up all the possibilities.
Furthermore, they categorized their fatal wounds. Currently, they can only identify two types: one is two blood spots on the neck, and the other is a completely intact body, but with ruptured internal organs.
Apart from the strange energy on the first corpse they discovered, they found no energy fluctuations on this new corpse, and even the aura of the curse had disappeared.
This period of time left Ron feeling extremely exhausted, but what worried him even more was Taiichiro.
Although Ron had knocked Taiichiro unconscious and taken him to a room where he locked it, he could now sense that Taiichiro was filled with resentment towards him.
"Do you know what you're doing? Why are you protecting those curses? They are enemies of humanity and can never be friends of humanity. What you're doing is like playing with fire and getting burned."
Ron said.
“You should trust me, I will definitely not let you down, and this time I can guarantee that the person who really did this is not one of those curses, but someone else. I need to find out the truth.”
Taichiro roared.
"The truth of the matter? Are you still trying to excuse those curses? You ignored such obvious signs of curses?"
Ron said.
“Although those auras were cursed, didn’t you notice? They were so faint. If they were the ones who did it, their auras should have been much stronger.”
Taichiro said.
"Let me out, if you won't fight them, then let me go."
Ron sensed that Taiichiro had lost his mind. Perhaps it was because he had been fighting against those curses all along, so at this critical moment, he had subconsciously identified those curses as the culprits, which was why he was acting so impulsively.
Ron knew he had to calm Taichiro down, or else things would go terribly wrong, and now they had a real adversary lurking in the shadows.
If Taiichiro really triggers the battle between them and the curse, then the real culprit will reap the benefits from the shadows. Ron certainly wouldn't want that to happen, so he would never let Taiichiro out.
"I hope you can forgive what I did. You will understand then that my decision was the right one."
For the next few days, Ron and the girl searched for any clues about the mysterious person, and they traveled back and forth between the two places, trying to find any trace of him. However, to their disappointment, no matter how hard they tried, he seemed to cast a shadow over them.
The girl said, annoyed.
"What exactly does that guy mean? Why is he creating so many corpses? Does he want us to kill each other too?"
Ron frowned.
"But what good does this do him?"
Suddenly he said.
"Perhaps we should investigate who would benefit from a fight between us."
Just when they were at their wits' end, someone came to report that they had discovered some very strange energy fragments not far away. These things usually only appear after a powerful energy burst.
Ron and the girl were both surprised. They immediately went to the place and saw that it was filled with energy fragments. These energy fragments looked very clear and were irregular in shape.
Ron frowned slightly.
"Why does this thing look so familiar?"
The girl said.
"These energy fragments seem to be somewhat similar to the energy on those corpses. Could it be that the other party made a move here?"
So they immediately began searching the area, but after searching everywhere, they found no other traces.
Ron was surprised. If it was really energy from a battle, there should have been many traces left here. But why were there no traces at all except for energy fragments?
Ron said.
"Could it be that the other party deliberately left these things behind to lure us and lead us astray?"
The girl nodded.
"It's not impossible, but why would the other party do that? What benefit would they gain from doing so?"
Ron looked around. The terrain here was very treacherous, making it a good place to defend and difficult to attack.
Just then, Ron suddenly sensed a dark shadow darting past him. He was greatly surprised because he could sense that the shadow seemed to be filled with a very strange energy.
